Avalon Hotel & Conference Center

I had no plans staying in Erie overnight. Unfortunately some Courthouse delays required me staying overnight. Lol , lost and driving around, I stopped at the Avalon. The courtesy, kindness and friendliness shown to me by the manager and his assistant , almost immediately helped to take the edge off. It certainly made me feel, like I belonged. Funny ha. You know ,strange town...5 hours away from home. Thank You ! Oh...and the bed and pillows are Unbelievable.

Not a bad place for the price compared to everything around it. The front desk staff are all very friendly. I think the area gives it a bad wrap but there is alot of restaurants and bars along the strip. Absolutely NO bed bugs, the rooms were clean. We had one small problem and it was fixed by the time we got back from dinner. I would definitely stay again.

What a pleasant surprise this hotel was. Our room was really clean and the hotel is in a super convenient location. The ample underground parking was a bonus. The staff was beyond accommodating. Caitlyn checked us in and couldn’t have been more helpful and kind. The young lady who worked in the evening of our stay (i unfortunately did not get her name) was extremely kind and accommodating as well. We travel a lot and this was our first trip to Erie, so we weren’t sure what to expect on a busy Memorial Day holiday weekend, but we were not disappointed. If we ever return to Erie, the Avalon will be our first call. Well done!

I go here every year for my birthday. Clean, comfy bed, good shower. No bed bugs (I always check!!) Very friendly staff. Great continental breakfast. We stay here becauae its walking distance to the bars.

I can't review location or room as we didn't not stay here. We got a room online and our teenagers didn't want to stay after seeing the reviews. Employees were friendly when we got to check in. They even gave us keys to our rooms to let us go look and inspect the rooms ourselves. The rooms were extremely large and we did not see any bed bugs looking under mattresses and checking in areas they hide. We just knew with the condition of the room and them having seen the review from two days prior we would have gotten no sleep and we got another 10 hours to drive the next day. I give the hotel staff a 10/10. Rooms just need some TLC

I dont understand how this hotel has bad reviews. I got a great price and the staff was very kind. Room 522 was clean and warm. Both beds were white with fresh bedding. Bathroom was clean. For a one night in Erie this was a great hotel. Yes the homeless people are outside but they are all over Erie walking around. No one bothered us or asked for money.

Came in for a ballgame, but stayed for the awesome hotel. Front desk staff is incredible!! Hotel is awesome. Can’t beat the price. Quality is fantastic!!

I had an amazing stay at the Avalon ! Rooms were extremely clean, and hotel front desk Rikki was so pleasant !! She had great ideas on ways to occupy me and the boys while there on our stay, and I am definitely planning on a return ! You can expect me to send my friends by when they need a hotel !

Don’t believe the bad reviews! I don’t know if a lot of them are old reviews, before the new management took over, or they’re just from people who like to complain. I stayed there one night but I wish I had also stayed there the night before because the Red Roof Inn Plus that I stayed at the night before was terrible (dirty floors, rude staff, bad neighborhood). The Avalon doesn’t look like much from the outside and I think that turns some people off when looking for a hotel online but I was pleasantly surprised. I was in Erie because I had a friend at UPMC Hamot Hospital so I called to ask if they offered a discount. Ramesh and Rikki gave me a great rate and they were the nicest people EVER. They also knew it was my birthday and I wasn’t expecting to stay in Erie that night so they went out of their way to make it special for me. I was exhausted and probably talking a little too much but Rikki listened and I just can’t say enough about how sweet she is! Ramesh is great too! The room and bathroom were very clean and it had a mini fridge and microwave. If I ever need to stay at a hotel close to Hamot again, I’ll definitely be staying at the Avalon.

Hotel is outdated as most reviews state. I have to admit I was super nervous about staying here because of the reviews. Paranoid even. IT WAS NOT LIKE THE REVIEWS SAY. Our room was clean and the bed was comfy! The sheets were crisp and smelled of bleach. The bathroom of course was outdated but it was clean and smelled like it was just cleaned. The price is a little high considering the older building and amenities. The staff do what they can considering no one wants to work after covid. They are nice and outgoing. The girls at the front desk were accommodating. I would stay again.

I wanted to give special thanks to The Avalon Hotel and Conference Center Event and Kitchen staff for making our wedding reception a spectacular success! I cannot recommend them highly enough. They were easy to plan with and attentive to our wishes and needs while making many creative recommendations which enhanced the celebration even further. They went above and beyond expectations to make our day remarkable and memorable for us and our guests. If you are having a wedding in Erie, PA you should definitely talk to them. The appetizers wowed our guests. The bar staff was great the entire evening. The food was absolutely delicious. The decorations and table settings were beautiful and creative.

PLEASE READ!!!! I was skeptical of staying here after reading some of these reviews, but I took the chance and I'm SO GLAD I did. Right off the bat the staff was so nice and I felt like they were really dedicated to ensuring I was comfortable. They gave me some great restaurant ideas for dinner and the best part...WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE. I was able to park my car and feel it was safe in their garage and not be have to worry about the hassle of parking meters and parallel parking on the street. My room was great! The bed had fresh, bright white sheets and bedding and crisp white bath towels. I was completely at ease with the cleanliness. I'm so glad I ignored some of the negative reviews. I think maybe these people misunderstood the difference between outdated and clean. Yes I could agree, some of the decor was of an older style, but that doesn't bother me at all. That is a completely different issue than cleanliness and I saw no issues AT ALL of cleanliness at this hotel. I paid a very reasonable price, especially for being the only hotel in downtown and I will continue to stay here each and every time I visit Erie, PA!!!

Honestly, I wanna start by saying the reviews are very very misleading. Our stay was beyond amazing. The customer service is above and beyond, whether its getting extra towels or needing plates for dinner they were super helpful. The hotel is in a perfect location and parking is located in a garage which was safe. I was super scared when I read the reviews so I decided they deserve an honest review. The room bed was super duper comfortable and the rooms were clean. Thank you to the team working here, especially Surish

I love this Hotel. I don't care what other people say about this place. The Owner and his Staff are awesome people. Always smiling and polite. Also I have witness rude behaviors from some of the guest and the Staff did very well in handling them. Also last night I accidentally locked my room key in my room and had to get a new one. The Owner asked me my name and birthday to make sure I am the person that is staying there. They make me feel very comfortable and safe. Also my Room smelled good and was clean. Yes a few stains here and there but at least it doesn't have bedbugs and their beds are so comfortable to sleep in. This place is better than sleeping on the streets.

I was very impressed from the moment I walked into the building. The building has a lot of character and it's beautiful. I know they're about to undergo renovations to make it more modernized and whereas i understand that, it also saddens me because the hotel has a lot of great character and personality. The staff is amazing and the fact that they love working here shows how great the place is as a whole. My room was super clean and the bathroom has a cute arrangement of shampoos and soaps.

When my daughter was in a severe car accident, my mom came from Ohio and needed a place to stay. This place was close to UPMC . Hamot.. The price of $66 should not be posted as the price be sure when she went to book the room it jumped to around a $100 a night. The staff was wonderful though they were friendly and took great care of my mom, giving her plenty of tea bags and sweetener for the morning. They also allowed her to park close to the door so she could come in late at night and be safe. She said the room was clean enough. She did have one night where there was a party and people were rowdy. But it quieted down fairly soon and she got sleep. Thank you for taking great care of my mom.

When we arrived it was about 10 o'clock. The suite we had was big and we loved it. The only problem was the AC was down and it was so hot. The front desk gentleman who was Dwayne, was so helpful. Even though there wasn't another suite we were given two rooms for the price of one. They brought us all the amenities that we would have had in the suite. The employees at this hotel were the best I've ever had at a hotel. We weren't on the water or walking into a Hilton but the respect and hospitality we received was the best we've ever had.

The front desk employees were so nice and accommodating. I loved the location, as well. I’d stay here again.

Had a fantastic experience when staying here. Specifically due to the over the top customer service I received from Rikki who helped me out when I was in a pinch while traveling. I will return for that alone. My room was clean and comfortable as well. Thank you for everything!
