Zamzows- State Street

Since I moved to Boise over 20 years ago, I have been amazed with Zamzows as a place to get all of my living things and their accessories. Their plants have great variety, price and health and even moreso their pet department takes the greatest care of the animals while they await their new homes. The staff are knowledgeable and very helpful. I have had many snakes, pet rats, ferrets, parakeets, and fish from Zamzows and found them all to be way healthier and more socialized than the pets that I have purchased at other stores.
Jared at the State street location has been one of my all time favorite staff members. His passion and knowledge of the animals is inspiring and contagious. I more recently decided to get a more sophisticated bird than the parakeets I have cared for. His honesty and experience with birds gave me the confidence that I was making the best choice in my new adventure. It allowed me to know I was being careful not to get into more bird than I could handle but the right bird for my desires and skill level. It is very apparent that his top priority is ensuring the humans and animals find the union that is best suited for both of their wellbeing. I could not have been happier with the bird I chose and valued his suggestions and tips even after I got her.
As a teenager my family owned a small pet food and supply store in a small town. The amount of care and learning I put into the products left me feeling a bit saddened by most other stores I have been to since. Although it is a larger company with several locations in the valley, it seems they put great focus on ensuring that their staff maintains the "local" small town store service with exceptional training. Their prices are competitive with the larger chain stores, but their products are fresher and often with healthier selections to choose from.

Fantastic selection of plants! The greenhouse really sets this store apart. Kate and Josh make this location great! Definitely have to come by and check this store out if you are looking for anything houseplants related.

I never thought a dog could have a favorite store but Nellie about loses her mind from excitement every time we pull into the Zamzow’s parking lot. She pulls me straight to the toys and takes her pick.
As her dog mom, I love that I am able to buy locally sourced dog food from a local company. I love how friendly the employees are to us. I love their indoor plant selection and I love buying my flowers here in the spring time. Their selection of plants, flowers, pots, dog items and cat items never fails. Zamzow’s is my favorite place to shop for garden, pet, plants and yard decor.

Also, Stacia is a 10/10. She goes out of her way to greet Nellie. I love her energy and how happy she gets when she sees Nellie carrying her new toy through the store. Thank you, Stacia for being a light in this world!

Been shopping at Zamzows for years. Locally owned and gardening supplies are geared towards Idaho's climate and growing conditions. This makes a huge difference in productivity of the garden.

Great selection of garden and pet supplies. I do have the best luck at this location for multiple varieties or colors of the same plant. The employees are very friendly and helpful they will go out of their way to help determine the best product for the need you are looking to fill

The quality is good, the staff is helpful about 90% of the time. Prices can tend towards the more expensive side so I don't go here for everything. I have used their in house lawn care products for several years now and have been very pleased with the outcomes.

I have been buying dog food at this store for 10 years now. It's consistent, good quality, and fairly priced. My dogs love it and I've never had any food related problems with it.
I'm also on their lawn-care program (approx last 5 years) and would definitely recommend it for the DIY lawn peeps. Just know you will also have to treat weeds with additional products, but all the associates are super helpful in getting what you need and I like it's a kid and pet friendly product.

Today was the first time I have ever been to Zamzows. I had questions about lawn care and their products. They are very knowledgeable and answered all my questions and I have decided to go with their products, it's all natural. I will also be purchasing the dog food that they stock there because of the same reason, all natural/no grains, especially no corn. I am so glad I went there. Good customer service!!! Friendly too 😊

Knowledgeable staff, I received a bearded dragon from my cousin after he went in the army. Told me about lights, also about diet, cage size, demeanor, behaviour, etc. I was amazed at how much he knew. Always smiling, the red head girl at the register is always so friendly! Great location as well, good parking, lots of variety

We love the staff at this location. I go to Zamzows for a variety of things, from food for the wild birds, my ducks, cat, snake and fish, to any of my gardening needs. I'm impressed with their animal husbandry as well. This is the store I wish I had back in Washington, it's so nice for a one stop shop for all of my animals, opposed to going to 3 different stores where I am from!

I am so grateful to the excellent staff at Zamzows - State Street. I was looking for several large bags of vermiculite for a garden project. Unfortunately, the last bag had been sold. The manager agreed to order some for me, but midweek he learned the product was temporarily unavailable. Rather than let me down, he called all the other stores to locate enough for my garden. Sarah, the assistant manager, then drove around to the other stores to pick up the individual bags and had them all ready for me to pick up as planned on Saturday. They truly went above and beyond to help me. Thank you so much.

I got the most amazing service I’ve had in a long time anywhere at Zamzow’s on State Street! Love this place and the people and would give more stars if I could. Boise’s so lucky to have such a great local business!!!

Obviously everyone knows they have great products, but they hands down have the best people working there. Nicest, knowledgeable, most helpful employees I’ve ever met.

I got the most beautiful little Christmas tree... They were super kind and helpful... Thank you so much! After losing my Mom and best friend, I am not really into the holidays and after not getting a full paycheck yesterday, it was super cool to get a tree for a small donation. I definitely will be back when I am on my feet for dog supplies! Thanks again Zamzows for being AWESOME and putting a smile on this girls face.

Always an excellent experience. They were out of the catfood I wanted - it's a popular brand. Had a fun chat with an employee so it was still worth the visit. As a resident of Boise for more than 60 years who has cared for horses, chickens, turkeys, dogs, and cats, I know Zamzows is the best place to buy quality, healthy food for every kind of critter.

We visit this location frequently for our lawn program and all our garden needs. We love the help we receive from this store, they are always so helpful and knowledgeable. The best thing they suggested for us to use in our garden this year was the Compost Tea. We were having a problem with our vegetable garden and especially the blooming of tomatoes. It was a kit that had Tomato Bloom, Thrive and Foundation in a 5 gallon bucket. The instructions were very easy. Once I applied this tea onto our tomato plants (as well as all the other plants) within 2 weeks they were going crazy. I did two batches and the plants did wonderful. I will definitely use this tea early on next year. Our season is so short we need all the help we can get for our plants to produce in a short time. Thank you Mr. Zamzow's!!

More of a mom and pop store, which is always great. Very nice and knowledgeable staff. They are generally genuine and are assets to this business. All animal cages are clean and they have been each time

Went in there tonight 1/23/20 and was pleasantly suprised!! The lady and the gentleman working were super helpful and knew what they were talking about!! they knew the store, its products and were really nice. Raised my 2 star opinion of this location to a 5 .

These guys are always very helpful and there's always enough staff on hand to help you out with what you're trying to find. Their pet experts are informed and knowledgeable and they have a very good selection of products. I used the zamzows systemic tree pesticide to treat for aphids and other destructive pests and it works extremely well.

Always helpful. Easy to return dog food, which is a plus! Took my little furbaby a while to find a food she craved! Always a good selection and sometimes amazing deals! This is a go too!
