Potena Physical Therapy

I'm very happy with my experience at Potena Physical therapy! Everyone was helpful and cheerful. Best of all, they helped me learn what exercises would strengthen my lower back and after 2 months, I was able to discontinue going in for therapy and continue with exercises at home. I have worked with the staff at Potena Physical Therapy on two separate occasions and I am very grateful for the help I have received. Before scheduling my first appointment, I did some research and was very impressed with both David and Peter’s experience and the additional education and certifications they have received. In 2021 I worked with David Potena and not only was he able to explain things to me in a way that I could understand, he provided me with more information and insight about my injury than the orthopedic doctor that I was working with at the time. David checked in on me frequently during each session and spent 1:1 time working with me. The PTA’s also checked in on me frequently and made sure I was doing things correctly. I was assessed frequently throughout the course of treatment to see the progress that I was making and the interventions utilized were adjusted as needed. All of the staff were extremely kind and professional. After I was discharged, David and his staff took the time to answer all of the follow-up questions that I had. I moved out of the area at the beginning of 2023, but found myself dealing with a new issue. Potena Physical Therapy is now a 30 to 40 minute drive for me, but I opted to return based on the phenomenal care I received the first time. This time I am working with Peter Potena and again have nothing but positive things to say about the care that I am receiving. Peter also takes the time to listen, answer any questions and adjusts treatment as needed. I cannot recommend Potena Physical Therapy enough. As they are an independent practice each patients care is individualized and not cookie cutter like other facilities. Not only have they helped me, they have helped my grandparents, parents, siblings and multiple aunts and uncles. I will continue to return to Potena Physical Therapy in the future, despite the longer drive.

My therapy was always with the assistant PTs who usually did a good job. However, I expected to work with a PT most of the time but the PT, Dave Potena, was impersonal and only spent less than 10 minutes of the one and a half to two hour sessions with me even in the beginning of my knee replacement therapy. He misdiagnosed the problem I had as a result of the surgery, and I didn't get the impression that the staff or Dave Potena really listened to me about how my knee felt so they could better provide effective therapy for my atypical condition. Instead they went about their jobs in a robotic fashion with little personal interest in my condition. The facility is in a cramped space packed full of male professional sports memorabilia, and lacks needed equipment such as practice stairs, water therapy tubs, etc.

The people are nice but they work on you for maybe 10 minutes total and the rest of the time, you simply do your own thing on gym equipment by yourself. I was fine with it until they sent me a bill for $140+ per visit when I was told I would have to pay $30 per visit. To make it even crazier, they told me that they had a cash option for $55 per visit, but instead of sticking to their word on that, they refused and charged me $140 per visit. These people are not trustworthy. Do NOT go here. Total waste of time and money for things I could've done myself at the gym.
