Dr. Thomas E. Shaw Jr, DMD

Dr. Shaw is extremely kind and patient. He offers thorough explanations that help the patient make informed decisions. He doesn’t promote unnecessary procedures. His judgment regarding a dental health question can be trusted. The receptionist is very helpful in scheduling convenient appointment times and answering questions. The dental hygienist is thorough and gentle. They are always right on time for appointments. Dr. Shaw and his staff make visiting the dentist office a pleasant experience. It would be very difficult to find a better dentist.

Can’t say enough about Dr. Shaw’s office. Recently was in need of a crown as a result of a cracked tooth. Entire staff was courteous and professional. Dr. Shaw was very informative throughout the entire procedure. I am generally apprehensive about seeing the dentist but would strongly recommend this office.

If you are looking at this dentist for your child....PLEASE TAKE THEM ESLEWHERE!!! This man does well with adults but cannot and I do repeat CANNOT handle children. One of my children needed a cavity filled and has had them filled before but was still scared of the needle. Instead of comforting my child and trying to divert his attention, Dr Shaw instead freaked out. He grew angry my son wasn't allowing him to give the shot of novacain. He proceeded to walk in and out of the room yelling at me to take him elsewhere to get his cavity filled if he is going to act like this. I stood in horror not understanding what was going on as I was standing there with my child as this procedure was happening. He proceeded to tell me next time I bring him to make sure I am sitting in the waiting room. I thought "why so you could forcefully inject the needle into my terrified child? Or so I don't see what kind of abuse you are inflicted on my child?" So, I did like he has said and found another dentis. That very night I called Dentistry for kids in Monroeville, which is where I went as a child, and made an appointment for the following week and transfered all of my children and then transfered myself and my husband to another dentist. He had never flipped on any of us for we had been going to him for close to 4 years. But to blow up on a 6 year old for being afraid to get their cavity filled was beyond what I felt a dentist should do. I have been extremely happy with Dentistry for kids and highly recommend them! Please do not take your children to see this man!!!! I was told from a previous worker of his that he hates working with children but does so to get the money. I have heard many other parents complain about how this man treats their kids. Please find another dentist for your children!!!
