Nicolas Pizza & Mexican Eatery

Went there for lunch and dinner because we were in the area both times. Such a good place. Passed it so many times the past 9 years, wish I had stopped. Burritos are huge, tacos are tasty and the empanadas are incredible. Definitely a must try if your in the area.

Hit the spot great $3 tacos in a jiffy. Git chicken, steak and el pastor would def try other food here

Regardless, their tacos and tostadas are 5 stars. 3 tacos, homemade crispy shells (a little over cooked) overstuffed with ground beef and some fixins, red and green hot sauce, very good. My advice to the owners, when a customer walks in and sits down, acknowledge them, don't just sit at the cash register expecting them to know you're not going to walk the 5 feet to their table. Also, when you serve, serv with silver or plastic ware. Just be conscious of your consumers.

Best Mexican place in the state bar none. Burritos are huge and delicious. You can tell the guac is made fresh and the tacos are authentic mexican style, no cheese or other filler.

I love (and dream about) the crunchy chicken tacos. The best crunchy tacos I’ve ever had if I’m perfectly honest and at a very fair price. When I lived and worked in the area I ordered here multiple times a week, but now that I have moved pretty far away I come back just to snag some tacos to eat in my car.

Just a little hole in the wall restaurant attached to a convenience store. Drove past it for years and thought nothing of it. Don't let the looks fool you though, they have some of the best tacos in the area. Highly recommend their burritos (they are huge), taco salad, and crunchy tacos. Place is really small so I wouldn't eat inside but takeout has always been great

Amazing crunchy tacos. Come with same ingredients as taco bell tacos but with fresh crunchy shells, and generous helping of everything on it. Awesomene Tortas, Favorite inexpensive Mexican place. Pizza slaps too

This is strictly a rating for the Mexican food, as I haven't tried the pizza.

The burrito is very big, full, tasty, and well wrapped. I couldn't eat it all at once, which I airways see as a plus (who doesn't love an extra snack/meal?).

It only took about 5 minutes from me ordering to get my food.

I'll be back!

Consistently good authentic Mexican food. I've liked everything I've tried here. The beef crunchy tacos are my go-to meal. Two of those is a decent meal. I love their burritos too, but they are almost too filling for me for lunch. I guess I don't have to eat the whole thing but it's hard to stop because it tastes so good. I like the food and I like supporting local businesses, so I go here any time I'm hungry and in the area. Great food for after 4:20 too!

I haven't had the pizza but the burritos are out of this world AMAZING. I drive 20 minutes to get them that's how good they are! Not only are they HUGE but so so delicious. All of them are great but My favorite is the mexicano burrito.

Not once have I been disappointed with the Mexican food! You can try all the other places around the area, including the bigger places and you will not get as quality. Mariachi burrito is awesome! Good size portions, amazing flavor, never ever bland. Quick pickup time. This is the real deal folks!! only recommendation is that they turn up the heat to eat there in the winter and that they expand for more seating!

This place is one of my favorites in Newington. I live in West Hartford which is luckily near by Nicolas Pizza and Mexican Eatery. I have yet to try their pizza but all the Mexican food I tried including their burritos, nachos, and taco salad taste really authentic, packed with flavor and ingredients. Definitely want to visit again soon to try their other dishes. The burritos in New Haven Mexican food trucks (called Food Truck Paradise) verses Nicolas burritos are definitely comparable, still debating which I like better.

We just ordered for the first time here for delivery. I must say we were pretty reluctant strictly just by the odd combo of Mexican fare and Pizza. But reading the reviews, we decided to give it a go. Well we are happy to say we were wrong. This truly is a little gem in town. We ordered, clams casino pizza, Empanadas, Philly cheese steak grinder and wings. Delivery was quick, food was hot, and very good and flavorful. We will definitely order from them again without hesitation.

Me and my husband live in walking distance and laughed at this place for the first year. Tried it and now we order takeout 3 times a month. Nachos and tacos are the best around. Pizza is shockingly delicious!! Love this place.

Excellent tacos! Authentic as they come. Had the beef tacos are well seasoned crumbled beef on fresh fried super crunchy shell. Also had the chicken on soft tacos...doubled soft corn shells with deliciously flavored chicken chunks with all the fixin's. Salsa Verde is amazing. Rice and refried black beans really good too. Mexican sodas. Will def be back!!

From the shabby appearance of this hole-in-the-wall establishment, the placement next to a simple convenient store, and the oddly paired foods in its name you would never guess that Nicolas Pizza & Mexican Eatery is any good. I'll be the first to admit I definitely judged. But to my surprise their food is crafted well, tastes very authentic, and is overall really good. Upon my first visit I tried the chicken burrito and as an avid burrito-eater I was very pleased! Clean cut and simple, but very authentic. The following week my curiosity got the best of me and I was visiting again for a large pizza, half cheese, half clams casino. I would NEVER normally eat clams casino pizza because to me clams and pizza should never be spoken in the same sentence, but boy was I pleased! Salty, savory, and cheesey. Couldn't ask for more. A hole in the wall for sure, but with great integrity and delicious food. I'd say Nicolas Pizza & Mexican Eatery is a great asset to this community!

My friends and I order from here last every week. It's a really great place with high quality food and friendly staff. Usually when there's a place like this their authentic food is better than the pizza or vice versa, but here, all of their choices are really good! We usually get a party sized pizza and also the soft tacos and whatever else for people who want a nice variety. Their tacos are more authentic and some of the best real tacos around. The quesadilla could be a meal itself with your choice of meat inside! The taco salad is to die for! It's huge and comes in an edible crunchy bowl.

At first I questioned how good the food could be from a place that does Mexican food and pizza...but I am happy to say that everything from this place has been awesome. The Mexican food is authentic and on point. The pizza is pretty darn good too. My only suggestion is that they provide more salsa verde, I cant get enough of that stuff.

Delivery is a plus too for those drunken munchies

If you ever had a taste for Italian and Mexican at the same time this is definitely the place for you and the food is amazing
