Adorable little restaurant. Tuna sandwich was delicious. Curry soup was incredible! Baked goods looked delicious. Very pleasant atmosphere.

Beautiful location right next to the waterfall, giving this cafe a lovely feel. Staff were very friendly and helpful in assisting me with a dietary requirement, suggesting substitutes which I really appreciated. The coffee and food was lovely, and there was a great selection of local produce - and even some Gilmore Girls related things!

This place is amazing! I’ve tried about everything on the menu and it is allll amazing! They do not hold back on anything!

Great place to get breakfast/lunch in Connecticut. The sandwiches were very very good, i would definitely visit this cafe again. We had the bacon egg and cheese on sourdough and the steak and cheese sandwich.

Great little cafe. Portions are normal. A bit pricey but the quality of the food is great so far. We have stopped a few times for both breakfast & lunch. Top notch soups as well. Five stars all around

The Smithy Café is one of these rare places that combines unbelievable food with a welcoming staff with a cozy and comfortable environment. This is THE place in the area to get your breakfast or lunch and worth a trip if you’re not local.

Whether it’s an artistically made cappuccino, the homemade croissants or muffins or the roasted poblano peppers that make their way into the Sriracha Steak Breakfast Burrito everything here is created on premises and explodes with freshness and flavor. There is something on the menu for everybody, from a chicken gyro to a fig-and-honey melt and landing on anything from a Kaiser Roll to a gluten-free wrap and anything in-between.

It's hard not to instantly relax the moment you walk in as the environment is modern yet rustic, with wooden floors and tables (with fresh flowers), big bright windows and old-school radiators. There’s a collection of early 1900’s photos in the area including one showing children riding in a horse-drawn sled going to school. Or sit outside in the quiet shade of the trees at ne of the many well-maintained picnic tables.

If you haven’t visited The Smithy – well, get moving! And if it’s a bit of a drive well then combine it with a drive around scenic Lake Waramaug and a visit to a local distillery, winery or brewery that are all in the area.

Went there for the first time with a friend who lives in the area. Very nice cafe for a quick lunch. Beautiful setting for sure and I used to drive past here and was unawares of this amazing little bistro!

Usually busy. Very friendly and helpful staff. Really good bagels and worth the wait.

I love it here. Good coffee, fabulous food. I had the Southwest classic breakfast sandwich. Filling and delicious. I usually stop after biking around the lake for a mocha.

I recently moved to the area and came across this adorable café! I had ordered a Golden Milk Latte not having had one before, and from here on out will never have anything else but that! What goes so perfectly with my latte is the vegan truffles they have there!! Absolutely to die for!! Along with the calm and warming ambience of the staff, I recommend this place to everyone!!!!

Ridiculous summer schedule (closed two days a week)! As if there weren't vacationers and visitors in the area this time of year. Mystifying! (If I didn't like the place so much I wouldn't care.)

I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy lunch several times at the Smithy Cafe. This charming Cafe is located in the heart of New Preston. It’s easy to be lured by its country beauty as we pulled up. I was greeted warmly by the lovely folks who work there. The staff were all very kind and happy to serve up their tasty food. My husband and I took our lunch outside to enjoy at a table under a canopy of trees. The food was delightful and artisanal. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at The Smithy Cafe. Make sure you try some of their delicious scones. They are scrumptious! We look forward to coming back soon.

Delicious food. Vegan, vegetarian available and awesome choices. Prompt service and people are so nice. It's a very nice place and is even better in summer with places to eat outside! Beautiful views. You can purchase local honey and jams there too. In the summer you can take your food, walk across the street and eat at the picnic table there and enjoy the waterfall, which is AMAZING! And the prices are extremely reasonable.

Love this place! I’m vegetarian and I always find myself making modifications to my orders but not here. They have so many vegan options, my favorite is the sunflower butter veggie on naan bread. The vegan gluten free pumpkin muffin it’s my go to breakfast ! Friendly staff too, had a good conversation.

The best chocolate chip cookies ever, with or w/o gluten. An American standard treat offered at top quality is a testament to the fine cafe and country store experience.

Stopped in Nine Main Bakery and Deli for a Mocha Coffee and picked up a loaf of fresh baked sour dough bread. DELICIOUS! Crunchy crust with a nice moist inside. Will be making another trip back there for a sandwich for lunch. If you are in the area this is a must visit!
