Ixtapa Grille Family Mexican Restaurant

This was very good Mexican food. Wait staff was really friendly and the atomsohere was excellent.

Make sure to bring your appetite,.this friendly restaurant will not leave you going home hungry.

I recently visited New Haven & tried out this Mexican restaurant, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted warmly by the friendly staffs. The restaurant itself had a vibrant and colorful décor, reflecting the rich culture and heritage of Mexico. The seating was comfortable, and the tables were adorned with traditional Mexican accents.

The menu at Ixtapa Mexican Grill offers a wide variety of authentic Mexican dishes. They offer free salsa and chips. The chips were perfectly crispy and served warm. It was a great way to begin the meal.

For the main course, we ordered tacos, chimichanga, enchiladas, fajita combo- chicken, steak & shrimp, fajita melted burger, and grilled steak quasedilla. The presentation of the foods was impeccable, the aroma was tantalizing, and the amount was too good! The dishes were accompanied by Mexican rice and a item made with beans, which were cooked to perfection.

I don’t have a Mexican tastebud but I must say their foods exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend giving Ixtapa Mexican Grill a try.

This is a real deal, fast service, great food . Friendly people. Need to try it for your self .ps this not a fast food restaurant.

We drive down here from Madison bc it’s better than any Mexican food near us. Truly worth the drive, the food is always flavorful and plentiful; we usually order a dish to go for later as well. The service is always excellent: quick, attentive, and friendly. Ixtapa, please open another location up near Madison, we love you!

We have been going to this restaurant for years and we are never disappointed. The food is outstanding as is the service.

The food in this restaurant is always incredible. My wife and I go here every year for Cinco de Mayo and it is absolutely a blast. The staff are super friendly and service is amazingly fast. This place is the real deal when it comes to authentic mexican food!

Best sangria I’ve had outside of Spain. Burrito with shredded beef was perfect- tender, just the right amount of guac, sour cream, lettuce and tomatoes. Everything was fresh and delicious.
Delicious crispy light homemade chips. Delicious fresh salsa.
Nachos perfect balance of cheese, beef and guac.
Warm attentive service.
Charming cozy atmosphere.

Ixtapa has quickly become my family's favorite Mexican restaurant. Service is fast and friendly and the food is top-notch. Drinks are great too! We moved to Hamden from Colorado several years ago and finding decent Mexican food had been nearly impossible. We only wish we discovered this gem sooner!

Ixtapa was an amazing experience, the staff were quickly responsive and helpful, and the food was delicious (especially the homemade tortilla chips)! I had the Pollo Mole, which was good, but I found myself wishing I'd gotten what other people ordered because everything looked good! The drinks were good, not very strong, but good! I am excited to go back and try some other stuff on the menu!

This is coming from a midwestern guy that has had some pretty great spicey mexican food, Ixtapa is my go to mexican restraunt for that itch of spicey. They have alot of great options for what you desire, but when you NEED to kick it up a serious notch ask them for a side of the house sauce. First time i had it i was on fire and so happy to find spicey mexican food in Hamden. I wonder if i was the first crazy white guy to order the sauce? Love the atmosphere and waitstaff, best atritudes ever. Check them out, the Birria Tacos are to die for as well!

The enchiladas were so amazing! The staff is amazing. I don't drink alcohol so I can't say how the drinks are. This is my new place to get some yummy Mexican food! 😊

Great Fajitas for two. Service is fast, and the Mexican music in the background makes it feel authentic and feels like you're in Mexico.

We arrived around noon so the place was nice and quiet. The place was clean, but it is somewhat small. It would be a bit of an issue if the place was full, though it looked like there may be outside seating, but not sure. The server was very nice, although they don't speak English well. They offer free chips and salsa. The chips were excellent, the salsa could use some seasoning but it was still good. We got the ixtapa burrito with chicken and ground beef and taco consome dishes. The food was fresh and delicious, everything was fantastic. Huge proportions, you can certainly buy a dish and it would be enough for two. This is a good place for a date, family or girls night out. Would not recommend strollers in this place.

Wonderful restaurant. The owner was so incredibly welcoming and friendly. The food was great. Don’t miss the bar - it’s kind of hidden in the back. On on hot steamy day I was served the most refreshing Modelo in a chilled glass. It’s an outstanding local business and I’ll be back.

The food came fast and was delicious. Enough for a second meal at home.

My husband and our friends they coming here for years. Enchiladas jalaco the best, margaritas the best Mexican around.The best authentic tortillas soup for two… delicious It’s only gotten bigger and better over the years. Everything is very authentic served hot and warm as traditionally supposed to. Everything is usually fresh and delicious. If we should may price it everywhere increase but it’s still our favorite Mexican mom and pop rooted restaurant to go. They have the best enchiladas the best margaritas. And they’re very friendly and clean. The other new Locols places everything not even comparable it’s is not tasty and not served hot.
