Higgie's Food & Ice Cream

I love Higgies!!! Great food for a great, affordable price! I always bring my friends who are visiting from out of state here and they love it. Lately they’ve been closed during hours it says they’re supposed to be open. Hope everything is okay with them. Would be so sad if they closed for good.

This was my first visit here since living in Higganum for the past year.

11:30 a.m. on a Thursday in the temperature is in the mid 60s.

Extremely kind service and with three people ahead of me, my order was ready within 10 minutes.

I ordered the 8-piece jumbo shrimp which came with fries and coleslaw. Tartar sauce, lemon and ketchup. $20.

I also ordered a small mint chocolate chip cup, ice cream is made by Gifford's out of Maine.

The parking lot was pretty full and I will say pulling in and out can be a challenge, especially when it's busy.

I was very happy with everything and I will be back. 😋

Higgies is a staple of the warmer seasons. There isn't much for a view while you eat, but it's a fantastic little drive-in. If you're craving a foot long hotdog (chilli cheese is great) and a root beer float. This is the spot in the area. I visit regularly for just that reason, and it's a "go-to" spot for a quick lunch when heading out on a motorcycle ride. The line in the evenings can get long for ice cream and the parking area is pretty small, so be mindful pulling in and out.

Wow!! Amazing clams that are perfectly fried with fantastic french fries. Service was top notch and the servers were very nice. They had just opened for the season so every one was in a positive mood. The food was pricey, but it was totally worth it! I will definitely come back here some time! Great service!

Myself and my partner have frequented Higgies forever. It's a wonderful place to stop for lunch or a yummy ice cream.We however can't seem to ever get anything else but their delicious foot long hot dogs and incredible french fries. They have nice umbrella'ed picnic tables and beautiful shade trees. We were lucky enough to be there at high noon and were able to to listen to (recorded) church bells tolling 12 times,then playing a hymn and the national anthem. It was truly an all American experience that we keep repeating every summer.

Definitely the best place to eat in town! I’d recommend the lobster roll! They really stack it with lobster and a healthy amount of butter! Also the lemonade is freshly made and is amazing!

Best fried clams I have ever had. Ever. What a great spot to stop for a bite or an ice cream!!

A small roadside drive-in, our food was great! I highly recommend their burgers, Loved it! Also a great place for ice cream🍦or a shake.

The food was awesome!! A bit disappointed because they did not have the clam strips. It's all good though; just gives me a reason to visit again.
My son loved the buffalo chicken burger. I must say their coleslaw was by far one of the best I ever had.
There will be other visits; for sure.

The food was amazing and the owners are great!

We had a chili cheese dog, fried fish sandwich, Philly steak and cheese, chicken tenders, onion rings, French fries, a hamburger and then milkshakes.

Rebecca and her staff make great food and provide a world class experience for the All American Road Side dining! Looking forward to next season!

My family, friends, and I have been semi-frequent customers for over a decade. We've seen and experienced quite a few changes over the years in terms of employees, managers, and owners. Despite all of the changes, this place has never let us down! 😎👌 The employees, food, service, atmosphere, environment etc. ALL get a 10/10 every time! 😃❤ Thanks, Higgie's, for being so amazing throughout all of these years!

PS - This place comes up quick on either side of the road so get you/your blinker ready for a quick turn! Also, there's a VERY small and tight parking lot here. All cars SHOULD (!!!!) park "nose in only" and as close to each other as possible (there's no parking lines). PLEASE DO NOT park in any other way! It causes congestion in the parking lot and/or the inability for vehicles to get out due to other vehicles blocking them in. Thanks so much! 💖

Food cooked fresh.Have had Whole Belly clam meal multiple times.Will put it up against any place along the shoreline. Burgers are cooked the way you order.The steak and cheese is money as well.Nice little roadside stop that takes pride in what they serve.Worth a stop!

My family and I love Higgies. We always get the burgers which are the best around. The ice cream is delicious. Well worth the money paid. And the service is excellent.

So glad it's open again! The foot long hot dogs and shakes are thr best and don't forget about the lobster rolls!

Mine and my husband's first time here. Delicious hot dogs, cold drinks, and great french fries. All served hot. Great service, staff was friendly, and fast. Would return.

Old time favorite!!!! A seasonal tradition! Fresh beef patties, hotdogs with many different toppings, fried seafood and incredible hard ice cream be sure to try their waffle cones!!!
Prices very reasonable! !

Higgies was always a stop either on the way, or returning from the shore...or the historic ferry...or Gillette Castle. Sadly it was shut prior to the plague hitting and we chalked it up to one more childhood memory gone.
But Higgies is back!!! And as tasty and homey as ever. The only thing missing is their delicious clam chowdah. PLEASE bring it back.

My son and DIL said this place had the best fried shrimp and seafood and boy they didn't like. Nice and fresh, fries perfectly 😋

Great burgers and fries! Lobstah rolls and dinners here too!
