Ernie's Pizzeria

The pizza was great! Light and crispy- the meatball was definitely the way to go! Our server was so sweet and helpful as it was our first time trying it out! They only serve beer and wine which for us was enough. They do go heavy on the cheese-where we like more sauce. What a great experience!

Ernie's was our last stop during our little self-orchestrated pizza tour around Connecticut and WE ARE SO HAPPY IT WAS! Ernie's is so underrated!!! We wanted to try different pizzas and they informed us we could do 1 pizza with different toppings. They were closing soon, so I'm unsure if this was a usual thing or just a "before closing down the kitchen thing" but I'm happy they were able to do it. The pizza was cooked perfectly. Everything tasted great and the service was amazing. Top Notch, Old Fashioned, Incredibly Authentic. Ernie's Pizzeria is some of the best pizza in the New Haven area!

Ernie's pizzeria is my personal favorite in New Haven pizza capital of the world! The pride and quality put in by the staff and Pat are really second to none! I will always support Ernie's and bring all my friends and family with me to enjoy New Haven's finest pizza!

Excellent pizza. One of the most underrated pizza joints ever... definitely rivals Wooster street pizza. The owner is what takes it over the top for me. You can tell his passion for the pizza and the place. He took over for his dad and you can tell how proud he is for it. Talking with him was a beautiful experience. I will be going to Ernies for life!

I was DEFINITELY in PIZZA 🍕 Heaven ‼ Omg!!!! Every bite I was savoring the flavor. It was hitting every inch on the pallet of my tongue. I had 1/2 sausage, broccoli rabe and 1/2 onion, black olive, meatballs (GREAT by the way‼) cherry peppers. This pizza exceeded my expectations. Whoever reads this I am asking you to please make a pit stop to Ernie’s. Please and thank you! Pepperoni and cheese was good too. Just saying drop in.

Absolutely great pizza! That's all they sell (besides plain salad). Do one thing and do it right! Order early for pickup...it takes a while sometimes, but really worth the wait! Pat is a great pizza maker and always smiling. I love the friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Don't get me wrong - this place is busy - but without the chaos of other places.
BTW, the LARGE meatball with extra cheese is the best!

This is the best pizza in New Haven, forget what you read from influencers and blogs. Pat is a master of the craft and there is nothing better than a cheese pizza fresh out of the oven. Do yourself a favor and eat there! This pizza is best when it's only a few minutes out of the oven.

This is my favorite pizza joint in new haven and west haven. Always delicious, always friendly. Just go try it if you never have, you won’t regret it. Seriously, it’s ALWAYS right.

Ernie’s is a local treasure. It’s everything I love in New Haven pizza without the hassle of dealing with downtown traffic and chaos. Easy parking lot and pleasant service. I love dining in and take-out is always just as tasty.

We were a rowdy bunch and the waitresses were patient friendly and very helful. Excellent Pizza. I had "The Works"-and boy do they mean "The Works"! Kids had sausage and bacon and we had 2 house salads. The menu is very simple, they literally only sell Pizzas & one type of salad. They did have a large selection of drinks, but we opted for ice water with lemon. Overall a lovely lunch in a pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommend

My second trip to Ernies and now there is no doubt of my love for this New Haven Pizza Gem. Their crunchy crust was calling me back and now I'm hooked. More airy than the superb thin crust of Sally's and the other two pizza titans in town (Pepe’s and Modern) but just as good. Last week I waited 1 hour and fifty minutes in line at Sally's and it was worth every minute. But variety is a spice of life. Sometimes you want to dig into a big crunchy crust done just right. And Ernies is the place to go.

It's about to get very real! I've been thinking about this since my buddy Gerry told me about their signature tomato, bacon & garlic. Will also be getting my usual pepperoni & mushroom as well as a broccoli rabe, sausage, black olive and garlic! Pizza was great as was the service. It's only about an hour drive each way so we will definitely be back!

Excellent Pizza Definitely up there with the best

This is the first time I ate at Ernie's on Whalley Ave. Usually drive 18 miles to Zupps but saw the great reviews on Pizza Gavones and Google so I drove 15 miles. Notice the Muzz pie is a small and doesn't fit in the box. The Bacon / Meatball was a medium and also didn't fit. The place is clean and the people are very nice plus the pizza was excellent and I'll be back.

We go to a lot of apizza places in New Haven when our friends come from out of town and ask for other places by name, but when we are alone or it's our choice, Ernie's is it. Pat and the team are the real thing and the apizza is perfect!

Great pizza..nothing else to say. Top 3 new haven pizza. Crust was perfectly cooked, not to hard but enough of that crunch and charred that you expect from a new haven style pizza. Didn't short on toppings. Flavorful. Cheese and sauce were the perfect amount. Also not overly greasy even after ordering a pepperoni pizza. Gooooo.... And you won't regret it

Great pizza. The meatball is strong. Sauce is spectacular and the atmosphere is friendly. Should be in the conversation for New Haven"s best pizza

Ernies is never in the conversation of great New Haven pizza but it should be, I would put it up against any of the "top 3 " I think it's awesome !!
