Branford Supply Pond Bird Sanctuary Island

Very nice and picturesque location. The island itself is an off limits bird sanctuary but there are viewing spots and even parking locations all around. We were fortunate enough to find a pair of grown swans waddling out and feeding with their offspring on a sunny summer day. The pond freezes over in the winter, but is no less picturesque then.

This is a great park to visit and it is extremely well maintained. Almost everyone that walks through this park is very friendly and I have never had a problem in the several occasions that I have come here. Most of the trails are easy to moderate for hiking and a great park to visit if you are recovering from some form of injury.

The bird sanctuary sanctuary island is off-limits to people, but is a nice subject for pictures and the fishing from shore surrounding the island is excellent, or used to be. There's been a family of swans that have been living on that island for as long as I can remember. As far as the fishing at Supply pond, one can find sunfish, bass, trout, possibly cat fish, and a variety of other wildlife here, such as painted, snapping, and box turtles. The best spots for casting a line is on or next to the bridge along Short Rocks Road.
