If no stars where available that's rating would get. I went to do every three year exemption as usually do & provided same info as always have done. It took three people & a claimed director to address something so simple but instead the director had a problem & " used choice words for no reason & said make him sit down" instead of accomplishing exemption task, I then proceeded to mayors office, to advise of behavior & use of choice words for no reason. Apparently city hall is part of Culture Wars now all over the newsi n which is next phase of plandemic for our government & these people feel can do as please to anyone since they are them. City Code Of Conduct with majority in city offices here does not exist & professionalism is biggest joke.

No wonder citys rating went down the drain with individuals like this & its unacceptable nonsense & ways undermining its residents.

A client of mine was left in the cold with no heat. Someone answered my emergent call within an hour and helped me throughout the night. Nicki was beyond helpful even after her normal work hours.

Thank you Mike Reyes Badge #I-7. Your hard work was highly appreciated. You are the only one who ever assisted me with this illegal dumping at 535 Howard Ave. You are the very best.

The folks at the Livable City Initiative have an overwhelming job. Despite that, I found them incredibly helpful with matters that are within their immediate control. I also found them extremely empathetic and helpful in rational matters, especially where the people involved in issues, have done some leg work, and put in some initial effort. If you want a reasonable and successful outcome using LCI, I suggest you take the time to do some investigation, develop relationships, and see LCI as a partner and not a complete solution. I also found it helpful to think about land issues in relation to the overall community. I'll add that LCI is bound by legalities, which are very complex. If I have any complaints about LCI its that they sometimes don't communicate the issues they face. I think if they more effectively communicated issues, legal or not, you'd see a lot fewer negative reviews.

Nikki at Liveable City’s Initiative is a real gem. She’s always diplomatic, doesn’t take sides and is a real asset to this department and to the city. Thank you Nikki! - Naomi

No answer on phone or response to email. Your tax dollars hard at work. Just another reflection of how poorly this city is run. More taxes, more benefits for city workers, less services. That is why this city is broke. That is why I will sell my house and cash in at top dollar before they raise the taxes on it again and kill the property value. I write again from South Dakota. Kristy Nome here I come. As a Republican I will not live behind enemy lines any more. Get out of this dead state while you still can before they try to take more of your money and plow it into city pensions and welfare benefits. I'M GONE!

Very disorganized, extremely unhelpful and quite rude. Somali was the only person who had an idea of how to handle issues but she has since been promoted to a better department. Sean & Eddy are not equipped to help with issues but unfortunately, there is no one else that they will transfer you to for better assistance. I've been waiting on an inspection report to bring to the Housing Court for a week now.

I I am helping a friend try to Solve some apartment issues that she's having with her rental unit in North Haven, i contacted 211 on her behalf which made a referral to contact livable cities initiative in order to fix some housing complaints and code violations she was experiencing with an apartment owned by Mandy management group however however when they came out to do the inspection the inspector was very friendly with the mandy management personnel and since then both myself and she have been completely ignored after numerous attempts to obtain a copy of the inspection report and none of the major repairs included in the report have been made to the apartment including electrical violations, mold contamination causing illness to humans and pets as well as having no heat since occupying the premise just to name a few. After months of trying to get these issues addressed she arrived hone today only to find a notice to quit on her door even after i receiving a letter stating she had until Aug 15th to renew the lease and fulfill her financial responsibilities per the rental agreement and they would ensure all repairs were made.

Livable cities is nothing but another private agency in kahoots with these city government agencies put in place to screw over anyone they can, so they can both walk away with pockets full of cash and leave majority of these residents who are in no financial position to fight them with nothing to do but live miserable unsafe and unhealthy existences in these apartments run by slumlords who grease the pockets of theae agencies put in place to fix these problems who are now looking the other way at the risk of the health and safety of anyone in the community who lacks the time, education or ability to go after them in order to accomplish anything, I just hope one day this review finds itself on the desk of someone who can help change the problem rather than bury it or profit from it!!!!!

I try not to rely on municipal services. I have always had the same experience in New Haven as a homeowner.
Never answer the phone, never return calls, or answer questions, never provide the service they are supposed to provide for residents in New Haven, and been rude at all cost: that's their philosophy.
Another example of the decadency of Connecticut working ethics as a whole. Joe Rogan is right: "Connecticut is just a highway between Massachussets and New York" and that's just one of the reason people is fleeing this place.

This office does not answer their phone and their general mailbox is full. Apparently this office employees over 40 people (none of whom can answer a phone, apparently), and Arlevia Samuel is the executive director, in case anyone from city government ever reads this.

Never anyone there. You have to leave a message. No reply at all. Perfect example of another Raquet with people getting paid and nothing getting done. On behalf of everyone who has needed you and been ignored, thanks for nothing. Have you looked at these reviews? This organization is a joke.

One star is generous. Inspector failed to show at two scheduled appointments. When called, hotline operator attempted to blame his failure to show on us (?) by making up a new appointment time we never agreed to. Again the inspector failed to show. When called again, we learned the inspector showed up unannouced and physically entered our residence without anyone home. Unfortunately this is an incredibly disorganized and unprofessional group.

The EERAP program is a joke absolutely not meant to help homeowners who really need help but is more for homeowners who barely need limited assistance. This is obvious by the ridiculous requirements for eligibility. First they demand the homeowner have $30,000 in equity. Demand specific homeowner's insurance requirements then refuse to repair "code violations", and EVERYTHING is a code violation, demanding the homeowner fix all code violations themselves. Then there's a 6+ month period where they "inspect and test for various health and safety hazards" which the homeowner will be required to clear up at their own expense BEFORE they can qualify for the program! Any homeowner with the finances to do all of that DOES NOT need EERAP! They've basically done ALL the work themselves! In the meantime homeowners who sincerely need help risk losing their homes (I'm sure this matters to no one and is most likely intentional) trying to get even minimal assistance! Gentrification is real, its here and this program screams it along with other programs supposedly meant to help homeowners to include every single HUD approved foreclosure prevention program in the state. How do you prevent anything when all you do is complete paperwork and document outcomes!? How are you providing emergency mortgage assistance when you have the nerve to determine certain forms of government paid rent as unreliable and therefore not considered income for the purposes of the program! You have to be a criminal, rich or know someone to get anything in this state. City and state politicians have the nerve to complain about high rents while 1. Taking no action against bad tenants who destroy property and live from eviction to eviction and forcing multi family homeowners to absorb the loss and 2 the aforementioned government rental programs refuse to pay fair market value for apartments but demand landlords provide repairs and maintenance basically at their own expense and again take no action against bad tenants or offer any assistance (beyond under paid rent) to landlords renting to their tenants. The idea was to provide decent housing to low income families not provide a discount to the government at landlords expense! If you want decent housing pay fair market value for it AND assist landlords with maintenance costs, removing bad tenants and in repairing the vandalism at the hands is subsidized tenants, enact real penalties against tenants who habitually don't pay rent and force evictions so they can live rent free until the last minute starting with creating a public data base to keep track of and inform landlords BEFORE the tenant moves in and stop penalizing landlords for bad tenants! Certain programs claim its not their job to screen tenants WRONG if you're paying the rent you should ensure the tenants aren't abusive scam artists with no respect for someone else's property, no appreciation for what it really cost to provide them with "affordable" homes, (because it's ONLY affordable to the bad tenant and the government program) and/or criminals otherwise where is the incentive to rent to them!
