Plato's Closet Hamden

Rick and the whole Plato’s Closet family is like family to me. This is absolutely my favorite store! Great grabs that are affordable! I love coming here for everything; bags, clothes, everything and ppl always ask me where did you get this and that! Shop here if you want brand names in excellent condition and new that you can afford!!!!!!

I had a pleasant selling experience at the Hamden location! It’s been awhile since I’ve been in a Plato’s, but this location was clean and well organized. Often times these stores are stuffed to the brim and it’s hard to shop and look through racks but it was very efficient here. As for selling my clothes, I made sure to wash and fold my clothes before and I brought them in an Ikea bag. I went right when they opened and they looked through my bag within 10 minutes. SO FAST. My one tip is to be aware about current teenage fashion trends and know what clothing items they’re most interested in according to the season. Plato’s specifically caters to high school & college age gals and won’t accept clothing that might be more professional and modest. Urban Outfitters, Free People, Lululemon, American Eagle type of brands do well here compared to luxury brands or something from the Loft or Talbots. For example, I brought mostly sweaters (lots of colorful and knit sweaters!) since it’s the winter and they took every single one. Plato’s is never going to give you a ton of money, but it’s nice to have some extra cash just for cleaning out your closet. Best of luck selling!

The store was clean and well kept. Couldn’t believe how much stuff still had tags. I did spend more than I planned but went home with a pair of Air Force 1, 2 pairs of jeans (American Eagle and PAC Sun) and like 3 tops and a sweatshirt for $78. I’ll be back.

Went thrift shopping down in Hamden, ran across some great finds! Quality threads, brand spanking new, tags and all. The store was clean as a whistle, found everything pretty quick - super organized.
The prices? A total steal! Now let's talk staff. Great bunch, very helpful and witty particularly Brittany, what a gem. She'd help you with anything you needs, even into fetching hangers! Shout out to Hamden, your thrift store makes clothes recycling a fun and rewarding experience.

I don't get the negative reviews. I sell to Plato's Hamden often and they've always treated me fair. Maybe I get how it works. If you bring in current styles in really condition they are probably going to want it. I also know. that I'm not going to get a ton per item. After all it's a thrift store and people shop there for the prices.

I love this Store. I buy over %50 percent of my wardrobe here and then when I want I can sell some of my clothes and earn a little extra cash. The employees are also awesome especially Brittany the store staff supervisor. I like the boss as well Rick Myers does a great job keeping his store nice and clean.

love Plato’s closet hamden. they always have something for me when i go. staff is usually very nice and always greets me when i enter. they also clean up the fitting room area fast and efficiently

Very clean, very organized stuff. They say hello to me and they help me get my bins in when i went there to sell clothes. I also bought from them. They got good stuff. I dont understand why people are trash talking about the store. Like if you dont get it your way, just reserve your opinion and move on. This is a TRENDY STORE, not a VINTAGE STORE. They up to date. Keep up people.

Plato’s closet is the ONLY place I shop anymore. You can find amazing trendy clothes for literally less than half the retail value. All of their clothes are in awesome shape and most of the stuff that I found are brand new with tags. The space itself is clean and open which is so much different than any other Plato’s I’ve been to, I used to frequent the orange location but since the first time I came to the Hamden Plato’s I’ve never gone back to orange! The staff is so friendly and helpful and they always greet you with a welcoming smile! Plato’s has truly made it so that I can dress my best with out breaking the bank AT ALL. I love it here and will continue to shop here FOREVER :)

I visited the Plato’s Closet in Hamden twice in the past week, and am extremely satisfied with my experience. The store is very clean and well organized by clothing type, color, and size. I purchased a wide variety of clothing (a Banana republic jacket, aerie/gap shirts and sweaters, converse sneakers, etc.) in great condition and for very reasonable prices..this weekend they are running an awesome President’s Day weekend sale. Today I was rang out by the owner..he was extremely professional and personable. Buying second hand has been a priority of mine for environmental reasons and I can’t wait for my next visit back! Would give more than 5 stars if I could.

Best Plato’s I’ve been too! Owners are nice as well as the amazing staff. They always communicate with customers, making it a personable experience. Truthfully anyone who leaves a poor review for this store is salty that their clothes were not in good enough condition to be given cash for because this store has awesome people working there who strive to help with any concern a customer brings. Go Hamden. 10/10!

I came in and asked to try on quite a few clothes before buying and a very beautiful lady named Selma was extremely helpful. Anyways everyone was extremely friendly and I'm assuming it was the manager but upon request they allowed me to get hangers as well. I would highly recommend coming here if you are looking for some nice clothes at a cheap price for everything there was in extremely good condition and there is a lot to choose from.

5 stars. Love this place. Good selection of inventory. Manager is very friendly and employees are too. All are very welcoming as soon as you come in.You can find a great outfit to buy every time you shop here. I never leave without finding a nice dress in there.Also Prices are great and not expensive at all. Definitely follow their Facebook page to keep track of their deals/grab bag events. This Plato's closet looks like a really FUN place to work as well!I'd totally love to work here!

If I could give Plato’s closet in Hamden more stars, I would. In the past two years I’ve bought pretty much my whole wardrobe from here! From shirts to pants to purses, they have so much!!! And it is for sure 70% off retail prices and is MUCH cheaper than other Plato’s locations.
The brand name clothing can be vary or scares from time to time but give it a few days/weeks and they’ll probably have those brand names back in!
Selling clothes here can for sure be hit or miss sometimes depending on the time of year or brand, but all and all, the worst they can say is that they can’t take it.
The customer service is amazing here and everyone who works there is very friendly and if you go in enough (like I and my friend do) everyone starts to remember you after awhile. Haha, to some it all up, it’s a great store.

I have been going to the Plato's in Hamden for awhile now, by far my FAVORITE Plato's Closet in CT. I also like the Danbury one as well. I always bring in huge bags of clothes, and they take almost everything. The customer service is excellent, super friendly, and I love seeing the same faces every time I go in! The store is also extremely cleaned and organized. The racks are not stuffed at all unlike Milford. Not once have I had a bad experience, and I visit this Plato's a couple times a month, and not to mention, I live all the way in Westport too, so this is a real hike for me, and to go out of my way to come to this specific Plato's, says a lot! I will be back very very soon (most likely tomorrow) lol :)

This is the best Plato’s closet there is. Their stuff is amazing and adorable. They have a wide variety clothes, shoes, purses, wallets, sunnies, jewelry, body suits😍 Their shoes are always a good deal, $12 for toms...WHAT?! Heels, boots, flats, sneaks, ugh. They have deals up the wazoo...they had 4 for 20 dresses...thats better than goodwill prices but with brandname or just super cute clothing. Staff is friendly and helpful, they have a bathroom, music isnt annoying or too loud, it’s clean, and their racks arent overly crowded like other platos i’ve been too. My favorite store for clothes, even with old navy and tj maxx right there. Bring your friends, they’ll thank you.

I went to Platos the other day for the first time, & my experience was absolutely amazing from the time I walked in the store, until I walked out the door. The 6 foot social distancing due to Covid was being followed, all employees were wearing masks, and were very friendly, and the supervisor who I believe was named Brittany, went above and beyond when it came to helping me find clothes to wear to my upcoming interview.

I've only ever visited this location once and it was for shopping and not bringning in clothing but I've seriously never had a better experience anywhere else. The store and staff blew my expectations out of the water. There was an absolutely amazing selection of young adult/junior clothing as well as men's, with great affordable pricing for name brands. The staff was so bright and friendly and really just fantastic. If I lived closer I would visit every weekend! 10/10 recommend 💝💝💝
