Rock House School of Music

My daughter has been attending Rock House School of Music since she was 5 years old. Now at the age of 12 I can't even begin to tell you how much growth we've seen, not just in her musical abilities, but also self-confidence. Rock House SUMMER ROCK CAMP has taken her appreciation to her craft to a whole new level. She has met so many great kids at camp learning new music and team building experiences! EVERY SINGLE instructor has amazing talent and works so well with children and adults. The future of music is right here at ROCK HOUSE SCHOOL OF MUSIC!

What can I say, I am proud to be part of the Rock House family and music community John and Cathy McCarthy have established. Our 6-year-old daughter joined the “Little Rockers” group in September 2016 exploring the basics of vocals, drums, and guitar. Not a full year has gone by and I can’t get over how much she has already learned; and the best part is, she is having fun!

In addition to the weekly lessons, we love attending Open Mic Nights at the West Haven Community House. The entire Rock House team provides an opportunity for amazing talent to shine front and center. The monthly event is a great way for kids to be with their peers and share their love of music with the community.

The future of music is right here in our own backyard at Rock House School of Music!!

Wow! My son is 12 and has been doing various camps since he was 6 years old. This band camp by far was his all time favorite! He has been taking lessons with Chuck and improved quickly in one month. Band camp really inspired him to play more. Working with the other band members made him realize how important practicing is. The counselors passion resonated throughout all the kids. It showed during their concert at the end of the week! Dominic and Chris were amazing and my son was grateful to learn and spend the week with them. I believe playing with other musicians and gaining confidence (from counselors)was the catalyst to continue his musical education. He looks forward to band camp again next year!

If you are looking for any type of music lesson, Rock House is the best place to go!! John and Cathy are the nicest people and the school has amazing instructors. My son takes vocal lessons with Kevin and guitar with Adam and he has made amazing progress. They all truly care for their students and have open mic nights every month so the students can showcase their talents. My son's band was formed at Rock House and with their help they have gotten gigs and have really become great performers.

Rock House School of Music is a great place to bring your child to learn music. The owners are very nice people and very friendly. They have professional staff. My son is very happy learning piano classes at Rock House School. John & Cathy you are doing a wonderful job.

Rock House School of Music is by far the best music school in New Haven County. John & Cathy McCarthy and their group of instructors are 100% top notch professionals. They make it feel like a family environment and not a school. You want to learn to sing, they have Kevin. You want to learn an instrument, they have Robert. The Rock House is awesome! I have three kids (13, 11, 5) who all take lessons there. All of the instructors are knowledgeable and passionate. They have passed on their love of music to my kids, who all love the experiences they have had so far! I can't recommend them enough!

I am new to the area and wasn't sure where to begin when my daughter expressed interest in drum lessons. I found Rock House School of Music and made the call. John and Cathy are friendly, welcoming, and professional. Chris Siena, my daughter's drum instructor, is clearly talented and a wonderful teacher. Rock House is THE BEST!!! I've been taking voice lessons with Sarah for several months now, and just started guitar with John. They are professional and knowledgeable about their craft, while still making it fun! John's curriculum is amazing and has helped me pick up a lot of new techniques in a very short amount of time. Highly recommend!

We love Rock House! My children take guitar and voice lessons there and we couldn't be happier. Friendly, personable, real people and the instructors are caring, enthusiastic and extremely talented. Cathy is flexible with scheduling when school or other things are overlapping. She always does what she can to accommodate some changes in day or time if she can. They know each child personally, you are not a number. They go above and beyond for example, the open mic's are places where the kids can play in a non-judgmental forum and collaborate with others too. It's so much fun to see how much they learn and grow through music. Try them and you'll see!!

Love Rock House! They were able to accommodate my son's super busy schedule and continue to accommodate his everchanging schedule needs without question. My son loves his instructor Chris and loves his sessions with him. The McCarthy family are the sweetest people you'll ever meet. So glad I found this place.

Rockhouse is the best place in CT to take lessons. We have been to a number of places around the state and none of them compare to Rockhouse. The growth I have seen in my daughter in the past year is incredible. The owners / instructors are not only awesome musicians but treat everyone like family.

Both of my daughters take music lessons from Rockhouse and totally love it!! Love their teachers and love the owners John and Cathy who make us feel like family!! They have learned so much and have improved greatly with the help of this fine music school!!

Excellent staff and instructors. I have been affiliated with the Rockhouse school for over a decade and the school has done nothing short of pushing it's own boundaries everyday to perfect a learning system that is concise, unique and second to none. Highly recommended for lessons of all instruments.

My daughter did the Band Camp they offer and the experiance was fabulous - To see how in 1 week they came together and performed together is a testament to the instructors and how great the school is - I would recomend if your child is interested in music go and see them - Schools in West Haven and Wallingford

The team at Rockhouse is awesome! They have a great curriculum and personalize each instruction. I learned so much at Rockhouse in the first 30 days that years of YouTube surfing didn’t and couldn’t give me. Not only can I play the guitar with family and friends now, I get to play the songs that mean something to me, connect to a song on a different level. That in itself is priceless to me.

Music is such a gift and it’s because of John McCarthy and Rockhouse I can jam out with family and friends. Not only is it a great place to learn but they do a lot in the community.

Absolutely amazing place. Everybody there is so friendly and welcomes you in like family. The instructors are all very experienced and have achieved some pretty cool things to show for it! Look no further if you're interested in learning or improving up on any musical talent. Can't recommend these guys enough.

I started playing the piano and after practicing with much of the patience of my piano teacher, I was able to play some of my favorite songs. Can’t help falling in love by Elvis Presley, How to Save a Life by The Fray, casper film score, All of Me by John Legend, and many of the common songs like kumbaya, jingle bells, etc. it has been such a therapeutic activity every time I go I leave feeling really good. I definitely recommend to come to this place for lessons. 5 stars is an understatement.

We couldn’t be happier! The instructors are top notch and the owners are professional, caring and accommodating. They are truly building a music community and encourage their students to fulfill their dreams!
