Truly a gem. Wonderful music and everyone is welcome . Dive spot with wonderful folks to accompany you. Draught list is great and the bartenders are even greater .

A small venue with lots of atmosphere, great drinks, and everything from Jam sessions to small bands playing every week! Drinks are reasonably priced, and cover charges for paid events are also reasonable, but there's also plenty of free events happening! Everyone from my experience was friendly and spirited!

Cafe 9 is a dive bar, sort of. It has that sort of vibe from the outside, smallish, no food except for frozen White Castle sliders ( a key component of my '5' rating!). But my friends, the intimacy of this place is unique & special. We have seen many bands here and some with pretty significant presence on the music scene. Here, you get as up close & personal as you want. The bar selection is decent, nice drafts, healthy pours. We have gone back many times for the music experience. This place provides rare opportunities to see performers up close, not in a 1K+ SRO venue. There are even tables & stools!

Not from New Haven, looked up jazz, and this is what came up. Great spot! Saturday's, they have open mic/stage from 4-7pm. Music was good, drinks were on point and reasonably priced, and the people were friendly. Place was standing room only, only one bartender who was also the waitress taking drink orders. Great service, never felt we were neglected or had to wait too long for a drink. Give her a raise! Great place if you're looking for a great early Saturday night out.

Went here for a private event and had a blast. This is a small cozy bar that offers live music. Definitely will be back.

I was there on a Saturday night. There was no cover charge, a live DJ was playing a variety of tunes, the crowd was friendly, and the staff took excellent care of me. This impressed me particularly since I had never been here before and thus I wasn't a "regular," but they still gave me great service! The security staff member assured everyone was of age, but was respectful and not intrusive. I enjoyed the ambience and I will return when I was in the area.

First visit to Cafe Nine! Flames. Mr. Cheeks was there amongst other Hot artists Envy exclusive Rowdy Punch Vodka n more. Hot show!

Just a dirty dive bar with great music and charm. Is it the cleanest place in the world? Not even close, but the bar tenders are nice and they host a ton of great shows.

This is a great little dive. We saw a punk show last night and really enjoyed it - quick and kind service with a relaxed vibe, the sound system was good and the person running sound did a great job balancing levels. Drinks are cold and cheap, my FAVORITE kind! They had a couple non-alcoholic options from Athletic Brewing (both IPAs) for any non-drinkers. I'd definitely go again for more shows, but I'd also love to head in for a cozy and lax Tuesday or somesuch.

Great drinks, not too pricey. Live music is beautiful. Friendly staff to serve. Small place but was'nt too crowded on a saturday around 4pm.

I've always loved this place and have sung on stage as well as one of my "kids". Great venue. AND great to learn that the new owners don't want to "yuppy" it - seems they just want to add some food. Hooray!

Great place to see a small band. The Gansetts are five dollars. And if you need they have ear plugs in case you forgot your own 🤣

Hello all readers. I had the best experience that I have had in over a decade at a musical show at Cafe Nine. I am a disabled person who uses a wheelchair and, on better days, two canes to get around. I was concerned about going to see any concert for so long due to my sensitive physiology. In contacting the owner, Paul, I was assured that the wheelchair I needed would be no problem, and it wasn't. Upon arrival i was kindly greeted by two men at the door. One taking tickets and the other saw me and asked if he could bring my wheelchair inside for me, which he did by hand (my wheelchair is not light at all and he was very strong). Everyone at this show/venue was so kind. I felt so safe and cared for the entirety of the event. In the beginning I had forgotten earplugs and asked for napkins to muffle my ears due to my sensory and TBI response to the live music volume
(I was so unprepared since it had been so long since I had the courage to attend such a show). As I was balling up the napkins, one employee saw what I was doing and brought over individually wrapped earplugs for me and my companion/caretaker, completely unprompted. This was exactly as the owner and operator of Cafe Nine had described and more. The accommodations were so good I was actually brought to front stage by the headliner. Every single moment of that night was the most fun...I was able to enjoy the show and not worry for my safety. This is a venue that I highly recommend for anybody , especially anyone who has a difficulty going out for hours at a time due to disability. That night I got to forget about my wheelchair and limitations and it felt AMAZING!! The kindness and attention of everybody at Cafe Nine was above and beyond. I feel overjoyed as daily I remember how Cafe Nine (Paul and all his wonderful staff) made it one of the biggest highlights of the last decade for me. After the show I was helped out and parking was right outside, so incredibly convenient. Thank You Paul and ALL STAFF who made this night a wonderful experience and added permanent joy and confidence to my memories. This was one of the best nights of my life. 10 STARS out of 5! I will never forget you or this event and I hope to return soon. - Paul

Nice little spot with a neat atheistic, dope people in attendance, and live sound setup properly. Situated right next to a parking lot so very easy to get in and out. Worth a visit definitely. Cheers!

Small, and historical bar. I recommend this place for open mic Saturday's for live jazz. It is always an experience. The dynamic of the regular musicians when mixed with a walk on is compelling to watch.
Good beers on tap, and food can be order but from the outside.
Wait staff is friendly and talkative.
