Sushi Hana Downtown

We have been patrons of sushi hana for years and have always had a great time! BEST sushi in 100 mile radius! LOVE IT!

Very good and friendly service. Stopped by to do take out but then decided to have our lunch inside to save the trash.
We ordered the Lawyer combo and the Raw combo for lunch which come with a very good miso soup and a delicious cucumber salad. We dipped our sushi in the salad sauce because we liked it so much.
Great quality, great service. Would always go there again.

The service at Sushi Hana is always above board, along with the cozy atmosphere! We recommend sitting at the sushi bar if it's just two of you, and the Gilroy role is our favorite with fried calamari and cream cheese!

Food, service, and atmosphere were all amazing! We had the edamame, ahi crisps and Alaska role and were greatly satisfied with each. The ahi crisps in particular were a great hit. The host was adaptable and the waiter was timely, polite and attentive. The flavor of everything was amazing! Considering that Montana is a landlocked state, the sushi was quite impressive. Overall, I will certainly visit this place again and recommend it to others.

High quality fish hands down. Recently when we go out, we have been testing the wait staff with our 16 month old. This is not necessarily by choice, it’s the reality of parenting. The wait staff at Sushi Hana was quite considerate of our needs. 5 out of 5. I’ve been to a lot sushi joints. Sushi Hana is my new by far. The wife agrees too. Primo eats and a chill atmosphere.

What an absolute gem. Not only is their sushi AMAZING but they offer plentiful vegan and vegetarian options as well (without feeling like you’re missing out on the sushi experience!) The service was top notch— our waitress seated us 15 minutes before closing and never acted like it was an inconvenience. She was courteous, efficient, and ensured we were comfortable and unrushed. The lunch specials are *truly* that: specials! They’re extremely affordable, yet filling, and come with a delicious little cucumber salad (careful, it’s not vegetarian) and a miso soup. The downtown location has a great dine in experience with large windows and lots of natural light— love the ambiance. Can’t wait to go back and explore more of their menu.

Sushi Hana has been a long time favorite of mine, and the expanded menu when Yuriko took over the business has only made it shine more in my mind. I am always impressed to see her working hard alongside the other employees to create delicious food and a welcoming environment for customers. A meal here always fills the cracks in my soul.

In addition to some serious sushi choices, there are lots of options for those who cannot eat fish—tasty options, to boot! Great small plates, delicious straightforward ramens (with the most delightful char siu I’ve had), a solid udon and curry, and the most freakin fantastic deliciously crispy sesame chicken like you’ve never had before!! Seriously, it’s addictive. I also highly recommend the tempeh maki from the vegetarian sushi selection.

For desserts, the cherry blossom ice cream has a light flavor to it, specially made by Big Dipper for the restaurant using authentic pickled sakura from Japan; the Big Dipper green tea ice cream is also hard to go wrong with, such a smooth delightful taste and texture. My other (absolute favorite) dessert is the melt in your mouth rare cheesecake, paired with a uniquely flavorful berry yuzu sauce that will have you exclaiming “oishii~” in no time.

I have never had a fish contamination issue with this restaurant (which would make me very sick), but be aware that the tiny tobiko (fish eggs) do like to stick to everything and may appear on a vegetarian sushi if tobiko was used recently for a different or shared order—a perennial occurrence with sushi prep anywhere I’ve been. Fortunately they’re bright and easy to pick off if you are worried about a potential reaction! You may also request specifically that the chefs be cautious of an allergen for you, and I am confident your request would be honored.

If you’ve hesitated to visit this restaurant just because you don’t like sushi or fish, I encourage you to stop by and give it a try because there really is so much more on their menu than the namesake sushi!

Sushi Hana is always a great time. We typically go later in the day (not during the lunch rush). Last time we went during lunch and it took awhile to get our sushi, but the place was full. All of the servers were quite gracious about it. I personally think Sushi Hanna has the freshest and best sushi in Missoula.

Sushi Hana never fails. It's our go-to when repaying a kindness or just for a night out in the "big city" We usually order 5-7 rolls and the Sashimi Moriawase. This combination usually provides a pretty great overview of what they offer. The quality and presentation of the various items is always top-notch. Occasionally, we have gotten tempura items which have also been pretty great, so if fish isn't your thing, you can still eat pretty decent grub while your friends eat the fishes.

I went here on Friday with my best friend and her kiddo, we had a lovely server who was nice and courteous to us. He made sure to check in on us to see how we were doing, it was quality service 💕☺

UPDATE: quality of sushi has improved and rolls are bigger since my review last year. I now go there at least once a week for their great lunch combo specials, especially the "lawyer's lunch". Yummy!

The location downtown, the ambiance and the very friendly staff made for a pleasant visit. Thing is, the sushi is just OK. Rolls are smallish (no avocado on a Rainbow Roll?) and the salmon just didn't have that glisten.

Food delicious, will definitely go back, and recommend.

Food is on point, and though the place was slammed we received our order in a timely fashion. The staff is amazing and has been for years! Bravo!

For the price you'd be hard pressed to do any better. Great presentation, fantastic service, and of course amazing flavours in every dish!

For a landlocked state, Sushi Hana provides a delicious seafood option. It's the most affordable option in town and always has a quiet, calm, and casual atmosphere. I've been frequenting this spot for the whole decade I've lived in Missoula and love ordering everyting from their apps (egg rolls, potstickers, edamame, miso, etc.) to their sushi (variety of flavors/price points). There's an option to sit at the bar and watch the rolls be made, though I prefer the shorter tables around the space or order ahead and pick it up to eat at home.
