Semper Amici Canine Training

The best trainers PERIOD! Our dog had issues with reactivity, resource guarding and pulling on the leash. Semper Amici went above and beyond to assist us with these issues and we are very grateful and happy with the results. Our boy Onyx is a lot more patient and calm when going on walks. We came to Jose and Semper Amici for help training our puppy Franklin, and started with the puppy course, soon moving into their 4 week program. From Day 1, we’ve worked with Jose and he’s so much more than just a dog trainer. You can tell his passion for helping people and their dogs goes beyond just teaching a trick or two and calling it a day. No, Semper Amici is there to teach YOU how to be a better dog owner, along with building a foundation in your dog for you to continue to work on over time, “teach a man to fish…” kind of thing.

The puppy course consisted of 4 lessons in our home in which Jose met and coached us and Franklin, and he was so patient, calm and even keeled, and he was able to immediately connect with Franklin and start teaching him the basics of the program. After 4 lessons, we had already learned so much, but knew that we needed to keep going.

During the All Aboard Training, we worked closely with Jose, Paul, Justin, and Patty multiple times a week to see Franklins progress, which was astounding to watch over the 4 weeks. Franklin went from being a rambunctious puppy to a much calmer and even puppy in JUST 4 weeks! Jose’s lessons were also very easy to understand and more importantly, easy to implement. Jose will take as much time as needed to make sure YOU understand the lessons he’s teaching to your dog. Semper Amici really does care about your relationship with your dog, and wants everyone who comes to them to succeed.

Franklin came home today and we are eager to continue his training with Semper Amici and want them to be around for everyone and anyone who has a dog.

I found Semper Amici canine training by chance, but it was truly a god send! When when we started training our two year old two-year-old Australian shepherd, he had horrible reactivity… to the point where we could not do anything with him, and had to keep him hidden away in our home. His quality of life was not what I expected when I brought him into our lives and it was really starting to take a toll on our whole family mentally and emotionally. After receiving training our lives have been changed forever, not only has my dog become more receptive to my training but I understand so much more about the way his mind works. Semper Amici has kept us both educated throughout the process and turned us into a true team! I am now able to take my boy out on walks around the neighborhood, on hikes with friends and even out into public at breweries (which I thought would never be possible) I can not recommend Semper Amici canine training enough!!!

I can’t say enough good things about our training experience so far. Rip is doing so well already I can’t wait to continue our training together at home. The facility is great. He had great trainers and the ladies who also cared for him are wonderful. I felt like he was being trained and loved while he was there. I totally recommend Semper Amici training.

I cannot say enough great things about Jose, Paul, Michelle and the rest of the Semper Amici team. We used them to train our Australian shepherd and now we use them for boarding. Our dog was unruly and it stressed us to take her out in public or on walks. We now get compliments on how well behaved she is. Semper Amici goes above and beyond for their clients and I know my dog is in the best hands when I am traveling.

We love Jose and the team at Semper Amici Canine. We dropped off Kobe (an 18 month old Doberman) in July for the 4-week boarding plan. Kobe was very needy, a dog born in my home and living with us through the Covid work from home era, he is a velcro through and through. Jose and the team were very attentive to Kobe, working with him on his separation issues while training him and giving him the confidence he needed for him and I to take our relationship to the next level. I will not have a dog that has not gone through boarding with Semper Amici. Jose did a fantastic job training me also! Part of making this work depends on follow-through from the owner and consistency. I had not had a trained dog before so there were a lot of questions that I had and training that I had to go through to really make this work out for the long term. We loved Semper Amici so much that followed up training in the 8 week class with our other two dogs. This really helped us understand the basics and better communicate with our dogs to troubleshoot any problems and enhance our relationships. 10/10 would recommend Semper Amici.

José is a great dog trainer with a lot of experience. Mylo joined the 3 weeks program and now his behavior has improved a lot since then. After the training he is following directions and doing very well inside and outside the house. What I like the most is that José exposed him to different places and people. I looked everywhere for the perfect trainers and finally found them here. My Beautifull loves the staff and so do I they are all Amazing and really do care about you and your Dog. The All aboard Training program was the best thing I could have done for my Pup. She’s more confident and walks are fun and even sometimes relaxing now. I’m so glad I chose Semper Amici!!

Our dog needed to be calm and trained ASAP since we have a new baby on the way and she was tearing up the backyard and jumping on everyone all of the time. We wanted to allow her inside but she was way too wild!

We put our dog into the boot camp boarding training and she’s a completely new dog! She can now stay inside most of the day because she is so calm but also knows when the appropriate time to play is.

Thank you so much to Jose and Paul who’s hard work and immense passion for dogs has transformed our Cocoa into a member of the family. Would do it again if we get another dog hands down. Highly recommend!

Jose did a great job on my shepherd Jasmine. In addition to her basic obedience training, he worked with her as a service dog. I've only had her a short time, but her previous owner tells me of her trips to restaurants, the theater, and more. Because of her great training and breeding by Heidelberg Kennels, she is a joy. Further, because of her service training she assists me in standing, sitting, and if I fall, she is right there to help me up. All this, because of disabilities on my part, is needed. Semper Amici is absolutely the best! I live in Tampa, FL and I drove my Pittie/American Bulldog mix (Jocko) to Texas where I left him with Jose for 5 weeks of training. I received daily updates of my boy and his progress with pictures and videos, which definitely helped me with him being so far away for so long. Jose and Patty treated Jocko as if he was theirs and I know he was so well taken care of! When it was time to pick Jocko up, Jose showed me the progress Jocko had made and even gave me lessons as well so I could continue the training back home! If you are looking for a trust-worthy and extremely knowledgeable dog trainer to entrust your fur-babies then look no further than Semper Amici!

I could not recommend the trainers at Semper Amici more! They are amazing. My dog Ruger stopped listening to me and I was at a loss, Jose and Paul turned him around and he is so well trained. They love dogs and you can tell they enjoy their work. They not only train the dogs but also train the owners too. I knew I would have to learn certain ways to interact with Rugers training., and The trainers made it super understandable and broke everything down for me as well. Totally worth the investment for your dog and your well being!

I have consulted via telephone with Jose's team regarding recommendations for our Collie Doodle. They've given me training ideas and recommended local trainers for me to reach out to, which was such a blessing. They're really good people and committed to the canines in their community and abroad!

I adopted a 14 month old DoberDane and I didn't know he knew nothing. He didn't know a front door (scared of it) or even how to take treats. He just wanted to run away from me in the yard. I was at my wits end what to do with him. Jose and his team taught him confidence, exposed him to different stimuli, built up his obedience and to be comfortable in his routines. He is a totally different dog after the training! No one can believe he is the same dog. So loving, so obedient, a joy to me now and he is happy! And I learned so much about how to work with him and so enjoy our Saturday sessions. I cannot thank Jose and Paul enough on giving this dog a life a dog deserves!!!

Our German shepherd displayed extreme fear aggression and anxiety. He was one of those dogs that we hid away from the public so we wouldn’t find ourselves in a lawsuit from an accident happening. When we dropped off Kylo for the All A-Board Training program we had no real idea what to expect we just knew we needed help. We are 2 months in and with both reinforcement training and our own up keep at the house we have a completely different dog. Confident, disciplined, and eager to learn but still the same boy we love with all the same personality.

Jose and Paul are incredibly skilled and talented with all sorts of dogs. Any breed and any size is their specialty. Not only are they great with the dogs but the fact that they insist on taking the appropriate amount of time with you as the owner is incredibly beneficial.

Jose could not be more in-tuned with how to train dogs and how to motivate them to change their behaviors. I'll be honest it was a tough decision to put this much money forward on our dog, however after talking with Michelle and meeting Jose there was no doubt in our minds that he was 'our guy'. In the time we had our dog at Semper Amici Training through boarding (3 weeks) the differences from when we dropped him off and now after a few months is a complete change. We truly have a dog that is so well rounded, trained and confident now. We were having a lot of social issues/anxiety/accidents throughout the house/snapped several times at people, but now his anxiety has subsided, has total confidence, well behaved on walks and it was so helpful for Jose to teach us how to introduce him to new people and the do's and don'ts. It's some of the best money that we've spent and cannot recommend enough. Half the time I forget Jose's name because what automatically comes to mind is 'dog whisper'. Based on our experience with him I don't think that there's a dog that proves to be challenging for him to train - he's so natural and connects with dogs.

This is the best decision I have yet to make for me and my dog. I decided to get a large breed and knew immediately that he needed training. There's so much value in the training received at semper Amici. Jose made sure to explain everything thoroughly and even taught me a few things. My dog is now very well behaved and is able to be out in public without having to worry about his behavior. I def recommend this place !!
