I recently collaborated with Buunni by hosting an event for a community I created (Black Girls at Leisure). Maribel was very helpful, patient and kind during the process. We were able to offer a custom coffee tasting for a group of 8 of us. The drink and pastry pairings were something non of us could have selected if we tried! Such an amazing experience and I’m looking forward to going again!

Update: Buunni has more vegan options for pastries. I got the vegan carrot cake muffin and vegan croissant and they both were moist inside. They didn’t taste sweet which I liked. The prices for both were a good price and not over priced. I would definitely get this again when I want to indulge.

This is a nice cozy coffee shop to do work, have a drink or food. They use to sell Ethiopian food and I will miss that. I love their vegan options for food and treats. Make they bring more vegan options to the menu. I love their chickpea salad. Nice and light and usually good portion. They have a nice tea selection and good matcha. It’s a vibe.

Long time patron- I love this coffee shop. It's legitimately my favorite coffee in the entire city. I've tried all the chains and all the fancy limited edition drinks, and honestly, I always look forward to treating myself to a cup of Buunni coffee on Saturdays when I go to the Farmers Market. Sometimes, when the wfh gets too monotonous, I would come here instead of the library. The owners are also amazing kindhearted people and also host a myriad of events in the space.

Truly, the best coffee in not only the neighborhood, but the entire city.

I won’t say they have the most creamy or smooth cappuccino BUT their coffee tasted great! Their own coffee beans have good quality. Would like to go back for black coffee next time!

They also make their own pastries, so I got a scone, recommended by the staff.. it was delicious! 🍓When it comes to mixed-berry flavor, there’s usually no strawberry, but their version did☺ It was solid but moist, really like the way they made it.

In addition, I can tell they are super community engaged which is awesome! So happy to see this kind of cafe exists in neighborhoods!❤‍🔥

Love everything about this place, from the vibe to the staff to the coffee. The vegan croissant was delicious and the super friendly staff, Ashley and Amy, made an iced latte version of the seasonal amaretto cold brew drink for me and my friend. Honestly I can’t rate the service high enough, definitely recommend checking it out!

what makes this place stand out is the atmosphere. there is a lot of natural lighting and it is well decorated in a 60’s kinda way with colorful furniture, plants, and nice artwork. thought has been put into this place!

Good chai lattes, a great place to get some work done, and good food! We enjoyed the spicy shaksuka, which had perfectly poached eggs. It wasn't that spicy despite the name, which made it a nice, light comfort dish. It was more on the soupy side, which I've seen done before that way, and worked well as a light dish as opposed to an entree. We got some chocolate mousse to go, which we're excited to try.

I went for their restaurant week and the staff is so polite, the lady behind the counter even struck up a conversation with me. They have colorful outside seating and I love how air conditioned the inside is. I wish I took a picture of the dessert. I had the Watermelon Feta Salad and the Spiced Shakshuka. Salad 10/10. Shakshuka 3/10 I thought it was going to be more thicker with tomatoes it was more like a broth with a grainy texture? I want to come back to try the Fir Fir and some Ethiopian coffee

This is a really cool place with plenty of space. Beautifully decorated and with lots of plants. There is outside sitting as well. I had a great espresso, my wife had a latte which was really good. I liked the iced chai latte. Definitely would recommend it.

I’m leaving the below review because I still love this place, but it bummed me out this morning when the lady behind the counter didn’t acknowledge me for something like 3 to 5 minutes. She was busy making the brewed coffee etc, but all it takes to make a client not wonder if they’re invisible is to say “good morning, I’ll be right with you.” Plus I said “good morning” and got no response. DEFINITELY not going to keep me from going back, but since I saw it happening continually to others after me, I figure the owner would probably like to know.

“This coffee shop has been the thing I woke up for throughout the pandemic. My boyfriend and I were two of many loyal patrons lining the block to buy delectable coffee and pastries one at a time at the Riverdale location (before it closed), even in the bitter winter months of 2020, and we will continue to patronize all the locations that remain. Why is it special? Hard to verbalize. Lavender lattes, for one! I’m addicted, they’re drinkable yoga. But also the family vibe. You can feel the care in the hanging plants, the fresh local flowers, the wall tapestries…nothing about this place says corporate. It’s dependable warm fuzzies, even from an iced (lavender!) latte.”

You've got chill staff and good food. The prices are standard for the selection and quality of the assorted treats.

Super cool local coffee spot in Inwood. Hot beverage options are spot on. The food options are limited so consider that when planning.

Vibes are you spot on. tons of seating options inside with a working, very clean bathroom. very important if you plan on spending a lot of time here.

What I really dig about this spot is the ability to do remote work. Wifi is solid, plenty of seats and access to power if you're sitting along the walls.

Very clean, well lit especially natural light as well. and they offer functions throughout the week if you wanna just chill.

They support local artists here and often put up art on their walls that you can purchase if you so choose.

They have a weekly calendar of events here as well like open mic nights, etc.

Very kid friendly, with vegan food and beverage options which can be hard to come by these days.

Buunni is also wheelchair accessible

Also all the baristas are spot on... Ashley has been consistently cool, patient, thoughtful, informative and just a star in my opinion. When you visit this location ask for Ashley if she's there you wont be disappointed and you'll have a super solid cup of your favorite hot or iced beverage with a smile.

My new favorite place. Walked a mile to get here. Friendly folks roomy. Airy. Just would like music lower even though it's not too loud

Had a great time. I had tasty wine 🍷 during a community open mic night. Love that they have events throughout the month for the community.

I have always loved coming to Buuni for their Ethiopian veggie platter but was disappointed to hear they no longer offer it. Instead they have wraps that are Ethiopian influenced and are tasty but do not compare to the platter. The also make yummy cherry rice pudding that is vegan.
The coffee is fantastic although my boyfriend thought $8.00 was too much for a coffee.
