FDNY Engine 69/Ladder 28/Battalion 16

Earlier this evening around 6pm l went in the elevator as usual, but as l descended to the lobby, l was in for a surprise when the door refused to open and let me walk out freely. L was trapped with a door that refused to open at bldg 2, 2569 Adam's Clayton Blvd Junior, 10039. I pressed the alarm button and the phone button several times. I could hear no one responding to me. There was just silence! I thought l might suffocate and have to spend the night sitting on the floor. I looked up and saw an AC vent. "Thank God, l can breathe some fresh air for a while: l won't overheat." I thought.
I prayed and asked God to please get me out. I started pounding on the door: help! Help! Help! I continued pounding, pressing the alarm and touching a button for a phone. The red light was blinking at times. " if this light is blinking, someone is responding." This gave me hope although l did not hear anyone talking. I wondered still and kept ringing the bell. " we are here, you would be out soon." The voices sounded like angels to me. Never sweeter! The door did open and my 3 angels were there in their navy blue uniforms. Three firemen with tools in hand. They made me feel my life was important and worthy. It might be a job to them but to me it is a landmark in my life: an experience l'll never forget, but cherish. Thankyou, thankyou my angels. I love you. Your job is heavenly. I'll be praying for you for the rest of my life.
