Ivan Pharmacy

This place is great! I needed to buy expensive medication, without insurance, for my dog. The price at Duane Reade $500, reduced to $170 with a coupon from GoodRx. One of the pharmacists at Duane Reade pulled me aside and told me to go to Ivan Pharmacy, where the same exact medication was $60. Ivan got me the prescription quickly and efficiently, and at less than half the price of the chain pharmacy. Definitely going back, and already told my vet so she can send her other patients there. Thank you!

After 50 plus years of painful arms and egg-sized lumps from a flu shot, Ivan bet me that I wouldn’t get a “ lump” post flu vaccination.

And this from a retired physician who gave no less than thousands of flu shots in a 35 year career.

Addendum: Just had RSV which some patients say is a tough vaccine due to headache. Again, nothing. No pain, no side effects due tomIvan using the Pfizer over Glaxo vaccine. Stupendous .

I don't often write reviews, but in this case I will sacrifice some of my privacy in the interest of the public good. I am a recipient of traditional Medicare. I just left Ivan Pharmacy with 180 pills to control my blood pressure--a 90 day supply. The cost to me was $45. An hour earlier I had gone across the street from my apartment to CVS Pharmacy on Amsterdam Ave to get the prescription filled. The price there was a bit over $200 for a 60 day supply. This illustrates why we need the government to be able to negotiate the cost of prescription drugs for Medicare recipients. Such regulation would save taxpayers and beneficiaries billions of dollars a year. It also illustrates why large pharmacies like CVS should be heavily taxed. Transfer your prescriptions from CVS to Ivan Pharmacy and save.

Ivan Pharmacy is also an outstanding neighborhood retailer for quality children's literature, art supplies and toys. It's a great place to shop for that present for the birthday party coming up soon.

Make-up, medical supplies, underwear, socks, water bottles and so many other miscellaneous items are available at Ivan Pharmacy. Shop local!

Ivan is the BEST pharmacist - a real old school, know and care about your customers kind of man. He called me after surgery to make sure I was ok and to make sure I understood my medications. He makes good OTC recommendations. Everyone in the shop is kind.

Ivan, the pharmacist, deeply knowledgeable, personifies the long term relationships and care that define a neighborhood. His medical advice is excellent, the auxiliary products he sells carefully vetted, he's moral enough not to sell cigarettes(!) In recent years he's added an enticing selection of choice children's books, puzzles, and stuffed animals. Most of his clients, understandably, remain with him for decades, eschewing the generic drug chains that pop up on every corner.

My family used to go to a closer pharmacy, but after one experience with Ivan, we permanently switched to him. I quickly figured out why it was such a better place: the man that the store is named after actually works there. My mother had a prescription for low-dose oxycodone (five tablets of 5mg), but our regular pharmacy had an issue with the insurance company or something and didn't fill the prescription. I went to Ivan to see what he could do. He said that we could fill it without going through the insurance company if my mother could not wait. He only charged $11 (the other pharmacy wanted $18) and filled it on the spot.

He also has a great selection of educational books and toys and creative art projects for kids. I do all my kid-gift shopping there. I highly recommend shopping for your Toys for Tots there.

My only complaint is that if the stated hours are correct, I wish he opened at 8am instead of 9am. He should really go after the pre-work crowd.

Best pharmacy, hands down. I travel back uptown for Ivan!

I have served as a physician on the upper West Side of Manhattan since 1987, during that time most of my patient used Ivans Pharmacy. He was extremely friendly, cooperative and helpful. His customers including myself continued to use his service even though he could not accept their insurance. My 98 year old father continued to use Ivans services even though he lived in New Jersey. I have continued to use and to refer to Ivan even after my retirement, and move to Panama City Panama. I can think of customers who come back to Ivan from as far away as Hawaii. Best of one of the last “non chain”, independent pharmacies. Proprietor greets you by name, gives you personalized service, and always goes the extra mile to assist you in your medical, personal, etc., needs! His longevity speaks for itself.

Best pharmacy North, West, South, East side of town. You will not find the professionalism, care and attention to details anywhere else. They also have a great toys selection. Thank you Ivan and team!!

I've gone to Ivan since I was a little girl. I'm 28 now and I have traveled from 14th street when I moved out of my mom's house and I still travel to ivan's now that I'm all grown up and living near Columbia. They are always nice, professional and carry the best drug store products. if you forgot what the doctor told you, ivan will know what your medicines are for, have them in stock and make sure you are getting the best generic or brand name medications.

i know i sound like an add but it really worried me that someone posted a negative review for him, he doesn't deserve that. I really envy anyone living walking distance to him, i don't believe anyone could have a bad experience there but if they did it must have been a mistake.

Ivan’s is a community pharmacy which cares for the community. Try to find caring service at a large chain store. I’ve gone here for decades and will continue to do so.
