Van Cortlandt Library, Arline Schwarzman Building

Library is beautiful and staff are knowledgeable, helpful and kind.

I stopped by this library in order for my son to be part of their story time and unfortunately the volunteer that does it didn't come in that day. One of the staff member at this library made our experience so memorable. He opened the play area so my son could play with all the cool toys that they have available. My son had a blast!!! Thank you to that worker for your kindness. We will definitely be visiting this library again!!

They don't have a great selection of books. Still a small library. But they offer plenty of help. Backyard is beautiful.. it's new and up to date. It's a good library.

The new library is spectacular.
The staff from the old branch is still here, and I, for one, couldn't be happier about that.. great bunch of people.
Someone mentioned a rude security guard? At the old branch, there wasn't any security. Never saw any sign of racism, EVER. If your son was disruptive, that's on you. Don't blame skin color for that, good grief.
The new building does have security guards and they seem pleasant enough.
In conclusion, new library is a breath of fresh air and Mr. P. along with Mr. J. run a tight ship and nonsense is not tolerated. Good on them!

Really nice staff and awesome new library building. It's clean, has nice outside seating, a recreation room (for games), brand new books, and refreshing atmosphere. Great place to study!

I absolutely love this library! The staff is extremely friendly & helpful, it's very clean & has two floors.

This branch of the NYPL has the absolute best people working there. The workers, namely Mr. Johnson and a young man named John, are so helpful and patient with all who enter. They will assist you when you need assistance. They have programs for the neighborhood school. Seniors go there before lunch to read the papers etc. Just a very nice welcoming place, thanks to the people who work there and we are all fortunate to have people of that caliber assisting young and old.

Everyone here is really nice. It's one of the smaller branches of the New York Public Library but they have a good selection of movies and children's books. They have many computers that you can use.

Love the new building. The staff is always on point when it comes to books and if the books that you looking for is not there. They let you know or put it on hold. Thanks guys you are good

Amazing space! One suggestion - open up the community conference room -when not being used- as a designated quiet reading room.

Small but Liberians are very knowledgeable of all books in their building.
