Friday, 12/1/23 , 825pm -Where do I start?! the 1st 5 star was Valet! Very kind, welcoming young man, Every server including Joe - very sweet & attentive... the food = delicious! Great Valet , great Servers..great food & atmosphere🙌🏻👍🏻

My husband and I love this place. We used to live around the block and even though we moved, we will still make the drive back to GP's for the amazing food. I always get the chicken parm, while the hubs likes to switch it up. We always enjoy our meal, the sauce is so good! The salad is also amazing, I don't know what they put on it, maybe the cheese? or the oil & vinegar? I don't know, but the salad is amazing. It's a classic NJ Italian spot, small, cozy, amazing food, and the same friendly waiter is always there all these years :). It's definitely a special spot. We aren't big drinkers so I can't say myself but the bar also often looks pretty hopping!

This is one of those cute little finds!! Extreme homely feeling, with amazing comfort and delicious food. The restaurant has been there since 1934, absolutely amazing!!

One of the best meals and experiences I have ever had. Such a staple in the neighborhood. Alan, Joseph, and Karen provided excellent service and made us feel right at home. The old-school ambiance reminded me of my childhood. Thank you for everything!!

I am so happy that we found this restaurant to have dinner at.

You can tell that this is a mom and pop kind of restaurant. The food was beyond amazing and the staff was so friendly and nice.

We had their specials which was a seafood risotto and chicken with artichokes.

On top of that we had the Fried mozzarella.

Everything in this restaurant was amazing including the desert.

Be sure to get reservations for this restaurant though since there’s only about 10 tables inside.

Gp’s is my favorite restaurant in Hudson County hands down. The best artichokes to start and a Peroni in a cold glass. I usually let the master “ server “ Mr. Joe order for me JUST CAUSE his family & I go way back. We take a picture every-time. If you haven’t experienced GP’s ambience, staff & food you really need to live a little. ⚡

This is by far the best and most authentic Italian I have ever had. Old school feel, with live piano music. Felt like a mob hit could take place at any moment, just kidding. Top notch place, can't wait to come back.

Visiting from abroad John and team took great care to ensure I had a great night in New Jersey. They recommended the signature Chicken Scarpariello over spaghetti which didn’t disappoint.

Make sure to sit down and eat at the beautiful bar at the front and you can guarantee a you’ll walk away with some great stories to accompany your full stomach.

Have you ever felt like family while dining at a delicious cuisine restaurant? This is what our local Frank Sinatra visited Italian experience was tonight celebrating our anniversary & Saint Patty’s Day.

Jimmy reached out and our baby boy snuggled into his side as he toured him around the restaurant making friends.

Edith, the pianist, welcomed the crowd with pleasant music… while Joe served us immaculate food.

We feasted on mozzarella and Brussels and I had the tastiest chicken Marcela in years. You arrive and Joe prepared a table side salad lightly dressed with olive oil and vinegar. Delicious and light to wet your appetite for the meal.

I can’t wait to come back. It was just a delight.

Dining in is a great experience! Food is so yummy! And the atmosphere is so relaxing and intimate. Also recommend take out if you can’t make it in.

This place delivers the goods. Authentic Old School Italian ristorante. If it’s not broken don’t fix it and it seems like this kitchen lives by that. The menu hasn’t changed much since they opened but there is no need when the dishes are excellent and will definitely satisfy that craving for genuine Italian.

Great complimentary salad served table side and excellent Limoncello Cake to finish the meal.

I can’t wait to go back.

Beautiful place that has only gotten better over time. I have been there 3 times over many, many years & they're the nicest, kindest, loveliest people who genuinely care about everything from their servers, to their food & the atmosphere is cozy & romantic as well. I had forgotten about them. It's been a long time but honestly I will be back & much much sooner. If there were more stars I'd give them all to GP's & to everyone inside & outside of their establishment. It's like a food vacation that lingers in your heart & mind in the best way possible. (I will be buying a larger size of dress tomorrow because not only is the food yummy, the portions are huge & I wasn't leaving without the best Tiramisu west of little Italy in NYC...I can't breathe but I'll die happily & gratefully thanks again to GP's) ... Omg, this was a night I'll remember for a very long time. ❤❤❤

GP's interior is the photo next to "classic Italian red sauce joint." I mean that in the most endearing way. We are regulars. Greeted every time like beloved customers. Enjoy the welcome of your experienced waitstaff, the complimentary tossed salad, the inexpensive wines (by the bottle or glass), full bar, classic Italian American appetizers and entrees, and delicious desserts from a Newark pasticceria. Yes you'll be full when its all over, maybe to the point where it will hurt, but you won't be unhappy. And if you are smart enough to bring half your entree home in a doggy bag - you'll have the best lunch ever the next day. Enjoy.

A classic Italian restaurant, if you really want to try traditional Italian food, this is the place.

My favorite foods here are the clams, the meatballs and the chicken parmigiana with an old fashion.

Btw this is the best old fashion in NYC.

Everything is always delicious and fresh. They even have a free valet. Never a bad meal.

Great first experience tonight out to dinner. I had sea bass .... It was perfect! The waiter was a sweetheart. They also have valet service which is very convenient in the area. 5 stars

Hidden Italian gem restaurant. I don’t think anything inside has changed in over 50 years and I wouldn’t have it any other way. As you enter in the front there is a nice horseshoe shaped bar with a friendly gent Tending bar who seems to know everyone’s name. In the back is the dimly lit dinning room. Just looking around the room you can imagine the meetings, gatherings, and conversations that have gone down in this place. They serve the salad in the wooden bowls and if you’ve been to old school Italian restaurants you know this is how it’s done. The old man tosses the salad in front of you - apparently it’s the end of the world of you touch the salad before him. Food was excellent I had chicken parmigiana and it could have fed 2-3 of me. Highly recommend this place. Very reasonably priced, great vibe, and superb food.
