My child has thrived at Functional Patterns NJ. Alex is patient and encouraging. It shocks me to see my kid excited to exercise as she tends to be quite lazy at home. Before joining, I was concerned about her lack of strength and coordination. Since beginning functional patterns, she has built up her core, overall strength, and her confidence. She is more cooperative at home and has grown more independent with doing things around the house since starting. She is also generally in better spirits on a more consistent basis than she was before starting functional patterns. I am excited to see how her training impacts her performance on the softball field and in tumbling class.

My now 9-year-old son has been attending classes at Functional Patterns in between his 2 football seasons, last year and now this year. Not only does he absolutely love going there and has so much fun, but the improvement that it has made in his strength, speed and control of his body translated on the football field during his first year as a Pee Wee. It has helped build his confidence and even helped him get some playing time in a championship game on the younger end of the Pee Wee team which show the improvement right there. My son is tall for his age and needed that extra push to improve his coordination and balance and FP has been amazing in helping with that. The staff is so positive and creates an amazing environment for these kids who are learning and growing. Alex, Dan and Liz have amazing patience with the kids and are really hands on with explaining and helping them where they need additional guidance. Definitely recommend!

My son Carter has been training with Alex Lambert for almost two years. He loves going to the gym and really focuses on the exercises that Alex has him doing. Carter is building confidence right along with his six pack! This training has helped him in sports and with just feeling better overall. Alex is definitely one of Carter’s favorite people and as parents, we are thrilled to have him in such a positive and healthy training environment.

I cannot say enough great things about the staff at Functional Patterns. All 3 of my elementary age boys attended weekly classes with Alex and Dan for general strengthening and body control. The expectations were set high, but attainable with the support and encouragement given by the staff. The laid back environment also made it comfortable for my very shy boys to attend. They all looked forward to going every week. I highly recommend!!!

I’ve been working with Alex Lambert of Functional Patterns NJ for a few months now, and I look forward to each and every session. Every time I walk away from the gym, I know that I’m investing in my health, improving my postural control, strength, mobility and mind. Alex is a true expert in his craft, and a wealth of knowledge in all things FP. There is an amazing sense of community in this space, and the range of people you’ll meet is a testament to that. I wish I reached out sooner!

I started working with Dan about a month ago and I’m in great hands! I’m impressed with his knowledge of the body, ability to notice nuances of movement and provide guidance on different ways to do a exercise to recruit appropriate muscles. I feel great after each session. I also feel well cared for by Dan - he listens, asks questions and responds accordingly. I’m thrilled to have come across Dan and functional patterns - I also drive two hours for in-person sessions! And, I appreciate the flexibility with timing of sessions - he’s been open to virtual and in-person sessions. Can’t wait to continue to see progress in my movement patterns!

I've been training at FPNJ since November 2020. Prior to that, I was seeing both a personal trainer and a physical therapist with hopes of addressing imbalances and old injuries causing discomfort in my right shoulder, low back, and left hip. When I first tried FP, I immediately knew the training I was getting was greater than the sum of what I got from my old trainer and therapist. I haven't looked back since and can't imagine training anywhere else, especially now that they offer MMA/BJJ/Kickboxing classes. All of the trainers here have a deep understanding of anatomy and biomechanics, which is reflected in their own physiques (I believe this is a very important point to make since FP is extremely result oriented). The community is filled with like minded individuals looking to better their wellbeing, whether they're newcomers just getting started on their fitness journey or athletes striving towards their peak performance. I'm 1000% proud to be a member here! FP All Day!

I started training at FPNJ with Neil in September 2020, but I have had the opportunity to train one-on-one with Alex, Dan and Elizabeth, and can definitely say that all the practitioners are highly skilled and knowledgable about functional patterns and biomechanics. The facility is clean, spacious and equipped with a surplus of great equipment that has helped me to achieve my health goals. Beyond that, all of the practitioners are extremely friendly and passionate about the work they are doing. I always look forward to my sessions at FPNJ not only because I know that I will be getting a great workout in, but also because the gym has built a community of people that are genuinely trying to better themselves and each other. I consistently feel pushed to meet my physical goals, but I have also been able to improve my diet, reduce inflammation and make better lifestyle choices because of the skill sets and techniques I have learned from FPNJ. I have been able to considerably reduce anxiety and depression as well, so the training has improved my life holistically. I have been able to reduce pain in areas of my body that I was not able to with a Physical Therapist and the practitioners have helped me to understand my own anatomy, posture and gait cycle on a much deeper level. I highly recommend FPNJ if you’re looking to move and feel better without pain!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND FUNCTIONAL PATTERNS NEW JERSEY! I have trained directly with the team at Functional Patterns New Jersey for over 2 years and it has been an incredible experience. The practitioners are extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and always learning/developing new ways to get all clients results. I have participated in a variety of services such as In-Person Private Sessions, In-Person Classes as well as now Virtual Classes and Virtual Private Training sessions. Each session is designed specifically to help solve your dysfunctions and start living a pain free life. The classes provide a range of techniques from basic fundamentals to more advanced movements. I have seen significant improvements in my posture, gait cycle, pain management, muscle mass, and functional movement overall. Currently working with dan who has been nothing but helpful. Dan and the rest of the FP team have a clear understanding of the human body; I personally, after training here for the past 3-4 weeks, have felt major increases in my athletic ability and in my posture. These improvements have helped me address the minor injuries i’ve had throughout my career and prevent future ones from occurring.

My initial goal was to just to get in, and stay in shape. My mom had knee replacement surgery at 70 or so, and has a million aches and pains. While I’m still far away from that age, I vowed to take the best care of myself so my body wouldn’t have to go down that road.

Like most people, I started off with a regular gym routine. However after a while, I started having knee pain, which immediately set off a red flag in my mind. Luckily there was an FP practitioner at the gym and we started working together. Within a couple of weeks of training with Gabe, my knee pain was completely gone (and still is). It’s a lot of hard and sometime painful work, but I felt my body (and mind) strengthening, straightening, healing, and always thirsty for more. Learning so much about how the body works, it’s incredible to think that you spend your whole life moving, without any inkling as to how anything about your body functions! It’s really worthwhile to dig into it a bit. Fascinating!!

Towards the beginning of the pandemic I discovered FP New Jersey was offering online classes and I jumped in on it after having been stagnant for a while. The MFR and workout sessions were exactly what I needed. A resource like this and people like them were providing a whole other level of healing during such crazy times, giving everyone a constant to hold on to as we all weathered the uncertainty together. Healthy bodies = healthy minds.

Working with Neil has also been incredible. Virtual 1-on-1 training proved to not be as challenging as I thought. He takes the time to address all concerns, and answer all the questions, gives great cues, and really goes out of his way to provide supplemental material to help with at home workouts. The level of commitment that Alex, Neil and all the trainers at FPNJ have to their clients is remarkable. Even though sometimes I have to take a break because, well, #life, this is the only method I trust and go back to every time. Looking forward to meeting them in person at the center in NJ. So grateful!

Before I began with FP, I had many reservations regarding whether this was the right path for me. I couldn’t raise my arms over my head due to four years of chronic shoulder pain and I couldn’t walk up or down stairs without incredible pain in my knees. I talked to Dan Welch about my pain and very limited range of motion and asked if he thought it best if I go to PT first and then come to FP once I had a bit more strength (My shoulders were so weak, I couldn’t even open a bottle of water!) He said FP was the way to go and he was right. During our first session he did targeted MFR on my shoulders, back and legs as well as several complimentary, strengthening exercises which allowed me to get on the treadmill an hour later and run faster than I had in five years. I felt like I could actually trust my body to support me which was amazing considering I usually needed to take the stairs one at a time to ensure I didn’t fall. Over the course of ten sessions, Dan was able to not only give me full range of motion in my shoulders and knees again, he gave me my life back. I had been an ultra distance runner for most of my life but was sidelined due to a fall during an extreme trail race and was unable to rehab my injuries due to the intense pain and limited mobility. Dan gave me the tools to continue with MFR and FP on my own and I am forever grateful to have found this amazing technique. Thanks Dan, Alex and Naudi! Total game changers.

I’ve been training weekly with Dan and intermittently with Alex for about 2 months now and I feel better than I have in years. I highly recommend FPNJ for everyone, whether you are in pain, rehabbing, or just looking to better yourself in all aspects of life.

I love my Functional Patterns sessions with Neil and I have seen a lot of progress since we started working together. Although, everyone who works there has also been really caring and understanding towards me. Making sure that they are taking the necessary time needed to help me process and understand what steps and movements I need to take. All the trainers are so kind, helpful, and knowledgeable and I highly suggest signing up if you haven’t already!

FPNJ has been a life altering experience for me. Professional and passionate about the work they do, I have been fortunate enough to work with them to help get my body out of pain leaving me feeling younger and pain free! Life changing experience I would recommend to everyone no matter your age, athletic ability, etc.

My daughter who has cerebral palsy has been working out with Alex for over a year. He is wonderful with her and knows how to motivate her to push herself. Even during the pandemic, he kept in touch with her via the computer, which helped her a lot. My husband and I can see positive results as a result of the time she spends with Alex. I highly recommend Alex and the Functional Patterns program!

I highly recommend training with FPNJ; with their help, I am now moving much better and with minor pain.

In the past two years, I started with the 10-week course, I realized I needed more one-on-one help to overcome my movement issues. I have worked with FP practitioners Julian Rodriguez (Lambertville NJ ), Alexander Lambert (Glen Rock NJ) , and the FPNJ team, who are all super talented people. I highly recommend training with them!

Over the last 27 years, I had 16 surgeries stemming from a motorcycle accident. I would wear a knee brace & never walked barefoot without my custom-made orthotics, which I thought I needed to support my right ankle. I went to too many standard PT offices to relieve myself from pain and move better, without any progress. It has always been a challenge to walk, move, or even sit, and pain has always been an everyday issue. Sleeping was also challenging; I would wake up mid-night with knee or foot pain.

I am genuinely amazed by the fact that I am starting to walk/jog barefoot on the Curved Manual Treadmill, pain-free & without a supporting knee brace or wearing my orthotics. My sleep has not been better in years; FP has changed my life in ways that I did not think possible. I hope to be an FP practitioner soon to help others overcome the seemingly impossible as I have. Naudi, I appreciate all your hard work in creating a way to move better & pain-free!

I can’t say enough good things about Alex and the Functional Patterns NJ team. With this work, I’ve been able to get out of pain, greatly improve my ability to move athletically, and increased my overall sense of well being x 10! These guys know their stuff, and actually care. A rare combination in this industry. Is it challenging? Hell yeah it is, but so worth it, and in my opinion, with the guidance of the FP NJ practitioners- you cannot go wrong.

My son has been going to Alex to help condition him for football. He does strength training and cardio. My son loves to go and looks forward to his next session. He has noticed an improvement in his running as he is a lineman.
