We were pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food here is. For a diner, there was a 4 star flair to the food! The waitstaff is down home friendly. The restaurant is very clean! The kitchen knows what it's doing! I highly recommend it! Yummy!

Awesome all around, I particularly love their salads. I have been going there for over 20 years and not one time did it not stand up to its standards. The last time however, three days ago was the ABSOLUTE BEST TIME EVER(!!!). This famous diner, now under new owners OUDID ITSELF just one more time. I ordered the Cesar salad and my partner had the Greek salad and I could not believe my eyes when I saw the plates delivered- they were HUGE. The size of these salads were just mind blowing amd highly impressive and it did not end here. The salads were DELICIOUS!!! Super fresh lettuce/ perfectly fresh ingredients. Simply- awesome all around. Late night or early in the morning that’s always a great place to eat. Their menu is huge, service is great and prices still reasonable. I am now officially comparing to the iconic Tick Tock on 46, which was always the staple for the most amazing food and a large menu and the Tick Tock does NOT COME CLOSE. Their menu has changed recently, it shrieked tremendously /its only limited amounts of items and dishes are super small comparing to Fair Lawn Diner. I realize I should not mention names to compare but I just wanted to make sure diner lovers understand how these two places have changed in last few months. Fair Lawn Diner, prior Empress BECAME THE ABSOLUTE FAVORITE PLACE FOR ME IN NJ. It is glowing under the new management. I highly recommend you try it- you will not be disappointed.

I was ordering on doordash and I was confused on why there was not an option for selection of fries that come with the Buffalo wrap, but when I called around 3:50pm, this very nice girl answered and said she would take care of my order personally. Everything was correct and she even added a little heart and smiley face on my takeout boxes :*) after a long, early day at work, this just made my day and I thought she should get recognition from this review. Thank you!!

I happily devoured a delicious lunch that my friends gifted to me as a baby shower surprise! The cheesecake was always my favorite and I’m glad to report that the quality stands just as high under new ownership! (Disclaimer: I added my own blueberries to the cheesecake at home.)

It was a quick stop. I was never there before. I got there early. No wait and the food was great.

Fair Lawn Diner employees, atmosphere, and food are top notch. They were so welcoming to our high school students who were practicing their ordering and social skills. The patience, kindness, and delicious food were loved by all!

I go for breakfast with my fellow Mama's who are sneaking away for this precious time, and the service is always great and quick to accommodate special asks!!! The food is always just what we need and tasty. Whether we are crying over coffee or laughing over coffee, we are never made to feel rushed. I like walking in and feeling welcome...

I came here this morning with my friends and we loved it! Good food and even better service :) We wanted to try something new so we got the breakfast bowls...so so good. Everyone who was working there was also very sweet, we'll definitely be coming back!

After the new management, the food, service, and overall quality have gotten so much better! I recommend this place if you want to grab a bite and relax in a great atmosphere! The decorations give such a homey feel, the hostess is charming, and the boss is attentive.

I liked it when it was the empress. I still like it now. The owner now owns the Hawthorne dinner with partners, the same good food, and the same good service. Staff at the Fairlawn dinner needs a little customer service training. Don't know if it's a language problem or just new staff. I fully respect new staff and training, and the times we are in, everyone needs a chance. I'm more than willing to do that. Parking is okay handicap accessible handicap walkway if you choose one side of stairs on one side ramp to get in. Handicap accessible wheelchair accessible walker accessible bathrooms are clean and handicap accessible. The dinner is clean and run clean. Have good deserts, and hopefully, they will be able to service alcohol soon. It would be a nice amenity to the business. Hope this helps out to all the undecided. Please give it a try. You'll be amazed.

Ate here a couple of times and definitely will come back. Our server has the patience of a saint having to deal with me and my significant other. Food is tasty and comes out quick…..and….. the coffee is great 😁

I was pleasantly surprised by the service and food of this diner. The menu is expansive and has good options for everyone. I went once and continue to invite people to eat here with me because it's good. I really love their Benedicts and also have a really nice Mexican food menu. It doesn't say it's Mexican but it has fajitas and quesadillas. If you're wondering whether to try it or not go for it it's good.

New owner, New menu. Awesome!!!! Breakfast is a must from here. Eat in or take out. Haven't done lunch yet. Dinner or late snack, great. Hot and fresh, have no complaints.

Since the new owner, the food and service have been so much better. The Greek chicken is phenomenal. Fair Lawn Diner is a great place to grab some food!

Very nice, clean, respected diner. Omelette could have used a little more bacon, but service was very fast and the portion size was excellent. Friendly server, quiet place to get some work done. I will definitely be back!
