A great small museum on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx. The current exhibition of Michael Richards ("Are You Down?") is great and stimulating. The artist died tragically on 9/11 at age 38. His studio was located in the World Trade Center. A particular focus of his show are the Tuskegee Airmen with allusions to both Icarus and Saint Sebastian. The architect of the beautiful new building from 2006 was Arquitectonica. Entrance is free.

Small museum but free and featuring local artist. They have a teen council internship that also displayed their culminating art. We were really impressed by the deep thoughts and art of those teens! It doesn't take long at all to visit here and very easy to get to from D train. Opened until 6pm, not crowded at all

1) Its free! 2) the exhibits are well curated - they tell the story of the art in super engaging ways and organize the work to give a sense of the artist’s message and mindset 3) It’s a beautiful building 4) it’s a peaceful space for exploration and contemplation 5) its easy to get to - a block from the D train.

Today was my first time visiting The Bronx Museum of the Arts. Beautifully designed and structured. It has a modern appeal with stone and glass combined to create the spaces that host works of art from artists then and now. The exhibit pays homage to the 80’s. From boom boxes to graffiti, this exhibit exudes an era that has not been forgotten and to some extent still lives on through other works of art.

A free nice small museum that has exhibits reflecting the life of minorities in NYC, primarily through the lenses of Jamel Shabazz. Plan to spend about an hour at least to capture the pictures across 5 decades. The photos were amazing, especially the ones reflecting the childhood innocence and family.

There is also a exhibit region showing different exhibits each month. When we went it was Medicina me Amor showcasing life in the Dominican republic.

Had an absolutely fantastic time here and the unassuming small sized lobby had a ton of hidden treasures as the many interconnecting rooms are hidden from view until you explore the small space. Not a massive museum but it's easy to spend an hour or two here if you're interested in modern art. Had a great time on a rainy day and it's extremely easy to reach by public transportation. Just be careful of some of the art pieces as one of them gave me a good scare since it dropped something overhead while I was underneath and was on a timer. Just pay attention to the large artworks as a lot of them have cool movement or mechanics that make them so unique. World class facility and unbeatable at the price of admission which is free!

A museum that highlights the art of Black Americans throughout the 1900s in South Bronx to present day. Breath taking.

I am excited to see how the Bronx Museum's expansion turns out in 2025! When my daughter and I visited, we were able to see Michael Richards legendary work.

Presently there's a great set of exhibitions, both exploring photography in different yet overlapping political frameworks. The subway graffiti photography exhibit is presented in a way that overlays depth and scale. It is not like anything else you'll see in NYC and I strongly recommend visiting this museum.

This was my first time attending this museum. Its free to visit. Located in the bronx. The exhibit that was displayed was graffiti. The beginning and end of an era. Great step back in history. I definitely would recommend a visit. If your in the bronx this is a place to see.

A piece of art without which the NY art picture remains incomplete. Small, but fantastically specialized, must-see for people looking for something local and extra.
