Sushi Boy Japanese restaurant

My wife and I went for a late lunch. There was no customer there at 2:30 pm and the kitchen was closed. Our menu option is limited to the sushi bar. We ordered 4 different rolls. Boy! They were delicious. The rice was fresh and soft. One bite into the tuna volcano, you feel the tuna and the rice immediately melt in your mouth. No need to say more we finished every bit of sushi. This was the first time the food was prepared by the Japanese chief/owner. The place is cozy and small (7 tables) surrounded by many house plants. I found this eating establishment is very welcoming!!

I stopped at this place on a whim to scratch a sushi craving and received a real treat of a meal. I ordered the Eel Volcano roll for takeout and it was prepared in under 15 minutes alongside of a cup of Miso soup that I didn't realize I was getting (did include seaweed and tofu). The roll was DELICIOUS and I nearly forgot to take a picture of it before I finished it. The inside is nicely decorated with an intimate type of feel to it. Although I ordered takeout this time, I'm looking forward to being able to go again for dine-in.

Reviews mention that the chef doesn't speak English well and docked stars for it, but you're ordering from a Japanese restaurant so it's a weird thing to complain about. If you're patient you'll be able to get what you need across.

They also don't take Discover cards - so prepare accordingly! I didn't notice a parking lot, but there's street parking out front that I was able to find easily enough.

Overall, definitely recommend and will be going back for more!

Most review here are 5 stars and a random few low stars that seem to be fake reviews or people that happen to be miserable. I have been coming here for about 20 years and the quality of sushi has always been great and very fresh. The fish used for all of the sushi is always imported and prices have not changed. I have tried everything here and have not been let down. The owner is truly an expert sushi master from Japan.

Second place that I find delicious sushi in NJ (you can see one of my reviews to know the other place). This place's menu is wide and the price of each is very reasonable, the flavor of the sushi is very fresh and the taste is great. The image I'm sharing are 3 different flavors, the menu itself on the tables have the pictures of each type of sushi (I forgot to tell them that I was eating there so they packed my sushi and that's what you can see in the picture, next time I'll go there I'll upload another picture). The decoration and the atmosphere of the place is comfortable and the customer service is good. I highly recommend this place.

I have been going to this sushi bar since i was very young. I never had a bad experience with the food since the fish is always fresh. Yes this place is a bit small and the people are quite but they are very friendly people and sushi boy's food never disappointed me. I highly recommend this place, it has the best sushi around bergen county.

The sushi is great and at a great price. The customer service is fantastic ! :) unfortunately at this moment they aren’t offering dine in.

Now Sushi Boy is a bit of a hard one to accurately review...essentially, their sushi is amazing. Hands-down some of the best rolls & cones I've ever had anywhere in my life, and I love sushi (my favorite food infact), so that's saying something in my book. On the other hand, the service is very spotty amd really depends on what type of mood the owner is in that day. It's not uncommon for him to be curt or even sometimes 'rude' to customers, even repeat one's. In my opinion, this is something I'm willing to sacrifice for how good the sushi actually is and as long as he doesn't refuse to serve me entirely, I'm happy with whatever quality of service I get. 😊

Only complaint is it was little warm inside.

We've been getting take out from this place regularly for seven years. This is one of the best and freshest fish I've had. The couple that runs it is very nice. This place is a gem in a neighborhood where you would not expect a great sushi restaurant. Prices are good too. Highly recommend!

Best Sushi I've ever tried in NJ. Good size and the fish is fresh and it's made with love lol. I just loved it. Got a surprise treat with my purchase, that was pretty cool. I thought of making a clever review but I am just happy with my food.

This place is a true gem. We have been going here forever. We rate all other sushi to here. Nothing holds up to Sushi Boy. It is always fresh and delicious.

For the most part we have a standing order but we do change it up every now and again and it never disappoints.

I’ve been going to Sushi Boy Place for years! their sushi is definitely top notch always fresh,decent size rolls,very reasonable pricing. The Chef and his Wife are super nice people.

Stopped here by myself in the middle of a long bike ride,and it was just what I needed. Quiet, chill place that served delicious sashimi, which was presented tastefully on a cute boat with fresh garnishes. The prices were reasonable and in line with similar spots in the area. Nothing fancy, but I really enjoyed it.

The best sushi I’ve ever had. I can’t believe this restaurant has a single bad review. I’m actually afraid to go to other sushi restaurants because I don’t think they can compare to Sushi Boy. I feel so lucky that sushi boy is only five minutes from home. The fish is absolutely always fresh, the complementary miso soup is amazing, and the owners are so polite. The chef always greets you with the sweetest smile and his wife always makes sure you have everything you need. It’s like walking into grandma and grampas house to a home cooked meal. The food is authentic and the dim lighted atmosphere is extremely comforting. I’ve been coming here for five years and will continue to for years to come.
