Was trying to find a park somewhat near I-74, so we could hop back on the interstate after the eclipse and hopefully beat traffic on the way back to the Quad Cities. Settled on this one, and I’m so glad I did. When we arrived, we saw a massive hill and it gave the BEST 360 view of the eclipse. Pictures and videos just don’t do it justice. That was the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen. I have no words (but had plenty of tears). Thank you Danville and Avon, for the amazing park, wonderful hospitality, and for creating such a beautiful memory.

Beautiful, relatively new park between Avon and Plainfield. It has a very nice playground, a couple of ponds, and very manageable walking trails. There is a very good sized disc golf course here as well that intertwines with the walking trails.

It is never as crowded as the surrounding parks in the area- it is our new favorite place to take out young grandson.

Had my wedding reception at the Bluegill Pavillion at Gibbs Park yesterday. I couldn't have found a prettier place. Nice big shelter house, electric outlets on both ends, nice new picnic tables, and gorgeous view of the water. All my guests enjoyed the park. Price was super reasonable. Would rent their shelter houses again. Might do it for my birthday next year.

Nice park! Love the disc golf course. Course is 18 holes and offers long and short tee boxes. I found the course to be very beginner friendly. Possible to lose discs in tall grass in summer months, but no issues finding discs when I played in October or April.

Great park for the family! Gibbs has all kinds of activities for everyone: huge disk golf course, trails for hiking or nature watching, a pond to relax by on a dock or fish in (permit license required), and even a hill for sledding in the winter! Please be aware, there are no bathrooms at this park but there are port-a-potties located at each shelter!

Park is also ADA-accessible including dedicated spots with paved walkways to shelters. The pond even has an wheelchair accessible dock.

There are two shelters that can be reserved:
Bluegill - 24'x44' - $75 per day
Firefly - 20'x36' - $50 per day

A quick note to parents headed to the playground: There is not enough parking at the playground itself, the firefly shelter would be the next best spot with a short walk over.

We visited for the first time today. We loved all the trees and the trails were nice. We spotted four tiny toads along the path. We walked to the top of the sled hill and it was cool to see the whole park. The back of the hill has lots of thistle which apparently brings lots of butterflies! There are many benches and picnic tables which was great.
The playground is a fun design but this was really the only negative part we noticed. While my boys, age 5 & 8 somewhat enjoyed playing, the designer of the playground definitely missed a mark. My 5 year old had to duck in a few places and my 8 year had to duck nearly everywhere which caused him to stop playing after about ten minutes.
In general we had a good time and we’ll be back.

Playground was fun for granddaughter but hard for adults to climb through do to low headroom. 🛝 We we’re the only people there most the time but it was early on a weekday, probably much busier on the weekends, we enjoyed having it all to ourselves. Ohh & don’t forget to bring a book for the library box thing. (They could use some preschool age)

Love love love this park for my 2 1/2 year old! There is a toddler portion for kiddos 2-5 but of course my 2 year old would rather play on the bigger playground. The bigger kid playground is for 2-12 year olds so it’s challenging for my 2 year old but also sooo perfect!! Just in the two weeks we’ve been bringing him here his confidence has grown so much and he’s able to climb so much more than he ever has been able to before! I am obsessed with this park.

If you like disc golf they have a great course that is definitely challenging to test your skills! It can get quite busy in the evenings during the week with league play and large groups. The park is new and off the beaten path so it is a quiet and relaxing place for a nice picnic! Also has a lake for fishing and playground for the kids!

Love the new trails they cleared out and have been enjoying them with the doggos. I do miss the time before the trails when you could walk the crick in peace, but the trails are nice.

One suggestion...utilize the fallen tree that sticks up like a cannon. Reinforce it, change the irrigation around it so it's not so close, and clear an area immediately around it so people and dogs can climb on it. It's a great place to sit and read or just watch the crazy squirrels. My pitty loves to climb up and jump down from halfway. Definitely our favorite spot when the weeds and brush aren't overtaking it.

I caught 20 of these little guys. The park attendant stated they stocked the ponds in 2021. While I was slaying these little aggressive bass, a person beside me caught a 2lb catfish. Thus is a great place for kids and bobber fishing.

This is a beautiful new Hendricks County park that memorializes the Gibbs family who has been a staple of Hendricks county in some way for the last 160 years. Having lived across from the street from them for 8+ years, it shows their dedication to the area. It is a great park now! in 10 years, it will be a world class park at a county level, or more.. Ponds for fishing, hills for sledding, trails for hiking, pavilions for gatherings or picnics, a good playground, AND a disc golf course!? I really like this place. It's also eerily quiet, a good place for some solace.

Great new park for the kids, grandchildren and just to enjoy yourself. They have Frisbee Golf, walking trails and a playground for the kids. Nice place to sit or play!

Great park! Nice gravel trails connect the whole park. Playground, pond, disc golf course, picnic table and shelters. Playground is wooden with different heights to appeal to all kid age ranges. With a separate smaller scaled one for the littlest. It is a mulched playground with benches in the shade to watch the kiddos play! Lots of trees and just nature all around. A wonderful park! A nice sized parking lot is right in front of the playground too.

You need to have a inside functional bathroom that was the only downfall and plus it should have been emptied before a family reunions. You need to build a functional bathroom as nice as it is at Gibbs park it should have functional bathrooms. We are planning on having another reunions.

What a great park! Nifty little playground for kids, really nice lake area, and loads of trails. Best disc golf course for miles around as well. Worth the hike up to the top of the hill on the south side of the park for the view.
