Really delicious fried chicken! I got the spicy version which really wasn’t all that spicy. The fries were clearly homemade and delicious as well.

The place is counter service and is set to cater to the lunch crowd very well. Overall I highly recommend. Will be back to try their other menu as well

Top 3 best fried chicken in Indy, hands down. This hidden gem used to literally be hidden in another restaurant but you can now order directly from the main counter. The price is reasonable and the food is AMAZING (made fresh also and takes 15-20 minutes but definitely worth the wait). 10/10 would recommend!

Maybe the best fried chicken I've ever had, anywhere - Tandoori spices x American style fried chicken just works so well! The "spicy" is relatively tame and leans sweet, but that's not a bad thing. My favorite has ended up being the chicken sandwich, which is made with thigh meat only and comes on mini-naan buns. Masala fries are tasty but can get limp & soggy fast if you do takeout/delivery, so strongly recommend dining in - you won't want to wait to put it in your face anyway!

Two years later this is still a top pick for fried chicken in Indy despite some stiff competition from new arrivals. The long wait times and inconsistency with the type & quality of the fries are my only wishes for improvement but they haven't stopped me from making this a regular visit.

Absolutely love it. I came on a whim while searching for nearby chicken restaurants and I'm glad I stopped here. The chicken is cooked thoroughly. Each piece was juicy and tender. Well seasoned with sauce on the side and made with love. I'll definitely return.

This is one of our go-to favorites on the west side. Family friendly and delicious food. Extra Crispy Spicy Tandoori Fried Chicken Breasts and Malai Bombs (deep fried cheesy potato balls!)

Wow, haven’t dropped a 5 star in a long while, but this chicken from Shani’s were amazing! It was spicy, sweet, crunchy, and flavorful! This is 100% recommended if you love spicy food. Note: this restaurant is also Chapati. They also got some games to play in the restaurant!

This place is inside Chapati restaurant. I ordered the spicey chicken tenders with fries and a side of Malai Bombs. Special chicken sauce is sweet and spicey and very very good. Fries are ok. Nothing to write gimme about. Maili a Bombs were great as well.

On the pricey side ($4 for a small dish of plain rice?), but delicious Pakistani food! Highly recommend the fried onions and cilantro.

Every time I come to town to visit friends, this place is an absolute must. The fried chicken is possibly the best I have ever had. The meat is juicy, and the breading is crispy and seasoned to perfection. It is made fresh to order, so you will have to wait a few minutes, but good food is worth waiting for. The portions are generous, and I am not sure I have ever completed a meal. The garlic naan is what dreams are made of. If you haven't been here, what are you doing with your life?

Best fried chicken in town. I would recommend the regular chicken sandwich with their spicy mango chatni, which is absolutely to die for.

Lemme 'splain somethin to y'all, I've had a lot of fried chicken in my day, and Shani's had me coming back at a minimum every month to indulge in their chicken. It is by far the best fried chicken I've ever had. The fried chicken is succulent, has a perfect chicken-to-breading ratio (for the normal style), and the combination of Middle Eastern spices really sets this chicken apart from the completion.

Their chicken is by far the most unique fried chicken I've had and it's delicious. Look for the menu inside of Chapati's restaurant which has delicious Pakistani and Indian food in and of itself. Definitely do not miss out on trying the Malai bombs while you enjoy your fried chicken.

The most incredible chicken I have had in years!! The seasoning is flavorful and distinct. The cook on the chicken is superb, so moist tender and crisp. Tandoori (me) Spicy also. And it is Halal. I don’t live near by but when I visit clients in the area, that is always dinner one night. They are a sister restaurant to Chapati in same location, something for everyone!

Really great fried chicken here - just a heads up that you'll be waiting around 20-30 minutes for your food because they make everything fresh.. but it's well worth the wait. The spicy chicken definitely has a lot of kick, and the sauces provided are extremely savory and pair well with the chicken. Staff was very friendly and accommodating (even offering chicken breast when thighs ran out), excited to come here again!

One of Indy's best little secrets. We stopped by this place strictly on the Google Maps comments/ratings and I was NOT disappointed! FYI: THERE IS NO SIGNAGE FOR A SHANI'S. It is actually in the place called Chipatis. ???

We showed up about an hour before closing for takeout and were warmly greeted by the order taker. The food was absolutely delicious and I would drive across town for it again.

We had the Whole Chicken, tandoori style extra crispy and it came to us hot, fresh and well seasoned. The portions were generous and with the secret spicy sauce on the side, made metering the heat level easier. Speaking of the sauce, it's not that spicy if you are a spicy food fan. It definitely leans more sweet but, the more you use the hotter it gets we found.

The naan garlic bread was an interesting twist on a simple favorite. It was good and paired with pieces of the chicken was a great combination.

We also had chicken sandwiches. One spicy and one regular (extra crispy) both were well received and enjoyed the chicken on the naan as a unique twist to the traditional American style bun. They both thought the chew of the naan complimented the hot and crispy chicken.

Overall impression: Feeding a family of 4 with each of us having different taste is always a challenge. Shani's really did a great job of delivering hot and fresh chicken at a reasonable price. Everyone was satisfied and are eager to go back.

Give your money to this fantastic local place. No frills. No hype. Better than the Eagle. More expensive than Chris' Fried Chicken. But you get what you pay for.

I like this chicken! Very flavorful! WARNING!!!
If you don't like spicy food, stay away from the spicy option! It's very good, but your pieces are swimming in the sauce and it's very warm. The tandoori chicken is really tasty. It is fried to order, so 20 minutes is the typical wait time. The chicken is worth it! Not overly seasoned and not dripping with oil. Great stuff! Oh! By the way, Shani's is inside of Chapati. Just go in and ask for the chicken.
