Indianapolis Public Library - Wayne Branch

I love the Indianapolis Public Library - Wayne Branch. They have friendly staff/volunteers and the building and restrooms have always been clean when I've visited.

They have recently renovated this location and with the new design layout for the book shelves the space looks so much bigger than it used to!
Their computers are spread out more throughout the library now and not
taking up a chunk of space right when you walk into the adult/teen area which is really nice.

Because of COVID, you now can only return borrowed books to the outdoor return slot, which is right next to the entry door so this return option isn't really an inconvenience. Because all borrowed books being returned have to go into a 4 day quarantine before being reshelved, they are waving most fees associated with late returns. (I.E. if you turn your book in on it's actual due date, it sits for a minimum of 4 days before being checked back in, you are not being charged for your book being 4 days late).

I haven't had any issues with coming/going to get new books with COVID. Mask are required to enter, but that is the norm for most places right now. But socially distancing speaking, I haven't had an issues with keeping space between myself and others. Will be hopefully visiting for years to come!

Adult reference people were very nice and very helpful. They helped me with all I needed today.

I have been going to this Library ever since I moved to Indy 10 years ago, it's so small and quaint. Just went in today for tge first time since they've done renovations and it looks great! The upgrades actually make it look bigger and more spacious. It seemed like there were less computers now, but maybe I just didn't look very hard. With all the virus foolishness going on, you do have to wear a mask the entire time you are visiting, which is unfortunate, also the hours are limited, and you are limited to how long you visit. Also, you are only supposed to return items at the drop box on the outside of the building, so they can clean and sanitize the material before putting it back in rotation. Other than that, they did a really nice job with the renovations.

It’s 2021 and the last time that I visited this library was in 2018 when I brought my son in to my childhood library to see both the train booth and enjoy the scenery and fresh smell of “libros”(books)!!
This location used to host my Girls Scouts meetings and also hosted my Summer Reading Program of which I participated in a few times for rewards and prizes. I am an avid reader and always enjoyed picking books to read at this location.

P.S. When I turned 18 and visited the library I had an outstanding balance of seventy something dollars and don’t remember settling it or not but I remember being frightened from embarrassment to walk through the doors only for the sensor to go off and have me come to the front (it never did of course) but I was lucky enough to look through the aisles and go down memory lane!

I visited here a few times when in the area and have had nothing but good experiences. I've only worked off my laptop with the free wifi while visiting. My only concern would be finding a good place to setup and work with my laptop plugged in, since this library is quite heavily used. But, I'm glad to see so many people lined up on Saturday mornings waiting for the library to open!

Well the remodeling of Wayne Township Library has been done, kind of warehousey, but I love it and they do a great job when I go there! Copies and faxes mostly, but they got lots of movies too!!! If you want a particular one, they will order it for you!! Same as a book, or any literature! I love my LIBRARY!

Great experience!! The staff is friendly and helpful. I liked the Christmas themed take home crafts, got a few of them to assemble at home.

It has been the Best experience I had all year Rachel P M was so caring and kind she made my year I believe she is one of most kind and hard working person l meet for a Long time you go Girl

Is a great place to study and enjoy your study. No disturbing in the reading room, except outside where people make copies and print stuff. I call the place my second home 🏠

Best branch in the Indy Library system! Newly renovated, so everything is organized and easy to find. Staff are all super friendly and helpful.

Always clean ,the staff is very friendly and helpful .
If they dont have a book that you are looking , they order for you, from another library.

Revamped just before covid so it still has that new library smell lol. As always, another great branch for IMCPL
