Hilton Garden Inn Chesterton

I was on my way to Montana when I was in need of a place to stay before hitting Chicago. I got to this location in the evening and the lady that took care of me at the front desk was very welcoming. The only thing I did not appreciate that you’d have to pay for breakfast which I skipped and got something else on the road. The room was clean and secure.

I normally don’t take the time to leave reviews, but I thought my experience deserved some credit to the Hilton Team. I am a Hilton Diamond member and stay in Hilton hotels most every week. I also graduated college with a Hotel, Restaurant, Institutional Management degree. I don’t work in hospitality, but because of my education, I am watching all the little details that are happening behind the scene to make an experience good or bad. Most of my stays I would consider adequate. Not great, not poor, just adequate. However, my stay at the Hilton Garden in Chesterton, IL was way above expectations. It is refreshing to see employees actually engaged and enjoying their jobs and wanting to create an excellent customer experience. It is unfortunately rare to see these days. It started with Cameron greeting me when I arrived. His positive attitude and great smile was very welcoming. He later slid a hand written note under the door saying thank you for staying with us. I heard a saying many years ago and I use it all the time in business. It is, “The little things, mean everything.” And Cameron is paying attention to the little details that makes a guest’s stay great. They just remodeled the restaurant and bar, so I decided to stay in and dine at the hotel after a long travel day. Kali at the bar was incredible. She was very inviting and friendly and fun to talk to. She was a great server in every way. Robert (Bert) the chief came out and was also very friendly and was asking how the food was. I had the Cesar Salad with Grilled Chicken and it was very good. They were having a special called Wing Wednesday, so after talking to Bert, and another patron in the restaurant that was raving about the wings, I decided to try them. They were exceptional! I was genuinely surprised how good the food was! I honestly was not expecting it. So, sorry this review is long, but this kind of service from a team that cares about the customer’s experience deserves a gold star. Thank you Cameron, Kali and Bert. Keep doing what you are doing and you will continue to be super successful in your careers.

To be fair, I have not stayed at this hotel because we are local, but the new restaurant south shore drift is excellent! Very nice and attentive service, excellent bourbon selection, and great wings!!
Really good old fashioned

Rooms are very clean and nice. Bartender was super nice, really enjoyed the bar! Overall great service, been here twice. Just wish there were better restaurants nearby, found it difficult to get food delivered. Nice grounds and dog friendly

Stay here often when I am in town for business. Great location. Quiet. And rooms are big. One recommendation is that the lights in bathroom were brighter so I can see what I am doing with my makeup.

We spent a couple nights. The location was great, very close to restaurants and also places we wanted to visit. The rooms were nice and the kids loved the pool. The hotel was very clean. Staff was very helpful also. One of the nicest hotels we have visited in awhile.

Cameron at the bar is a gentleman and a scholar. Excellent drinks, excellent service. 10 out of 10. Highly recommend

Stayed here a full week. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating, breakfast was awesome, and the room was great! Huge TV. Very quiet (I stayed on the opposite side of the highway). Laundry facilities were nice. Will stay again when back in town. Thanks, ladies!

We live locally and had just returned from a month out of town for work to a flooded basement. After a few phone calls found them to have a wheelchair accessible room available, which my wife requires.

They held the room for us while we gathered our things and headed that way. Check in upon arrival was quick as they already pulled up all information with my Hilton Honors number.

The room was very spacious and set up for easy maneuverability with a wheelchair. The room smelled fresh and clean upon arrival.. no lingering odors or "staleness". The bathroom was large and equipped with a roll-in shower with a very nice amount of towels provided as well.

During the 5 nights we stayed, everyone we encountered on staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

The location is great whether you're local or a traveler. Easy access to all the major highways in the area and only a few minutes from the downtown area. There are numerous options for food within walking distance and even more that deliver. As well as the option to dine in at the hotel in their new restaurant/ lounge area.

Though the quality of the rooms and other amenities are a huge plus for this hotel, the thing that stuck with me most was the overall friendliness of the staff. Everyone I had the pleasure of interacting with was genuinely friendly and sincere in conveying they wanted to make your stay pleasant. And now days that is becoming a rarity.

Would definately stay here again. And in the future any family/friends that come to the area to visit will be recommended to here.

I had a good stay in Hilton Inn, love the room style and how clean everything was. Thanks to the staff and service it was beautiful. If you stay in Hilton Inn go to the restaurant next to it, that is call Bod Evans Farms, awesome food. Won’t regret it.

This place is PERFECTION! Loved it! As a disabled person, they accommodated me with a first-floor room. Just gorgeous, well spaced, and a nice breakfast! With WOODEN, ALL 'NO NEED TO RECYCLE' PRODUCTS FROM THEIR KITCHEN. I almost cried! Soooo nice! ♡

We stayed here on a visit to Sand Dunes National park.
Will, at the front desk was helpful and friendly.
The breakfast staff was also very friendly.
We also used the pool which was pretty nice for the kids.

Excellent room. Water bottles and Keurig coffee pot which is a plus. Refrigerator and microwave.

My trip was not planned..my mister had a heart attack driving on highway 49 and I needed to be close to the hospital...ive never had people care about me like these kind people did...from the front desk to the cleaning people... I am forever changed by my experience here...thanks again 🙏 your all great!

Our stay here was fantastic. The room was clean and we all slept wonderfully.
We went swimming and enjoyed the hot tub too. Definitely recommend staying here!

Great newly renovated and growing hotel conveniently located of the major transportation route. This facility is far superior over some of the other hotel facilities by Hilton within a 15 minutes radius of travel. Chesterton has some nice dining and historic small downtown area a very short distance from this hotel location. There is a very nice excercise room and convenient pool and hottub on the bottom floor of 4 accessible levels. There is also nice meeting spaces for corporate or small events. Parking is limited up front, but additional parking is available le around the back of the facility, away from streetside. They could use a little landscaping at the back entrance, however. Currently, there is some expansion occurring in the lobby to accommodate for dining space, I believe. There is still ample space to eat and meet in the lobby, as Garden Inn facilities usually have.
Rooms are spacious and clean and the bed was so much more comfortable than some around the area. I have made this facility my preferred location for the duration of my travel to this area for work. The friendly staff is also helpful and may advise guests of special small town local events going on during your visit.

An incredibly clean and quiet hotel. My only complaint would be it’s a bit on the expensive side in comparison to similar stays.

Did hiking in Indiana dunes area and stayed here. This is what I expected of a Hilton hotel. Friendly, courteous front desk, clean rooms, comfy beds, close to other attractions. Great stay. We've stayed here in the past and will do so in the future.

The staff was so nice! The restaurant and breakfast were great, and the rooms were clean. They took Covid precautions, and most guests were masked. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas, and we ate dinner at a really good Italian restaurant next door. We told the manager that we would make this a regular stop on our way from OK to MI. Highly recommend!
