Second Flight Books

Cool shop somewhat hidden off the main road. It definitely has a broad range of books through a maze of rooms, but fun to browse. Some newer books still have average pricing, but plenty with lower secondhand costs.

Second flight is always to much fun to explore. There are tons of awesome books for crazy low prices. They also have novelty and/or small business goods and some classic bookstore gifts like games and puzzles. Cannot recommend enough! The only suggestion would be a couple chairs to read in.

A true hidden gem. Staff were great and the selection was remarkable. I got two books that normally would have cost over 60 dollars for 13. My boyfriend loved it, too! Overall 11/10 vibes.

First time visiting Second Flight Books. Went on independent bookstore day to join in their celebration. Brought the kids to do the drawing contest and they had a blast. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will absolutely be visiting again!

Tons of used books of all varieties. Staff is great and willing to help with anything you need. Place is cozy and always welcoming and now the back of the building has a reading nook outside for summertime enjoyment.

I ordered the used book bundle for my niece and nephew. I called the store first with questions - they were so kind! The process was easy and the kids have LOVED opening their books!

I absolutely adore this book store! They have a great selection of both new and used books. They have a great selection for nearly all genres. I tend to read thriller/horror and this is always my first-stop-shop for books!

Despite having lived in the greater Lafayette area for mostly continuously from the age of five to 18, as well as a number of years as an adult, I’ve never even heard of this store, much to my regret and chagrin (although I did live virtually all those years just west of the westernmost edge of West Lafayette, so that probably explains it). I only happened upon it by chance as I was walking to the BMV (side note: avoid the west side BMV unless you want to wait in line outside in the sun for what seems like a eternity) but thanks to providence or mashallah of whatever your personal beliefs, I decided to make a quick stop in just to check it out (but I mean, who am I kidding, there’s no such thing as a quick stop in a bookstore at least in my case). I’ve been to much bigger used book stores but the quality of the selection (which is obviously a matter of personal taste but anyway) completely blew me away. In the speculative fiction section in particular, my preferred genre, practically every book I saw I would put on my short list for favorite book I’ve ever read. Like all the best books by truly genius authors. Of course that meant that I had already read a lot of that section, but that’s probably for the best since I still haven’t finished unpacking my books from not even my most recent move, but the move before that. I did pick up a few of nonfiction books, a couple on how to landscape your yard to attract the most birds (theoretically a gift but the kind that you give fully intending to borrow indefinitely) and one on the subject of Lagom (Swedish for moderation, or “not too little, not too much”, a key component of the Swedish outlook on life and also theoretical gift of the above variety). I literally had to force myself to leave before I emptied my bank account, although that would have taken quite a bit of work given the amazing prices (especially in light of the like-new quality of many of the books). It is a bit cramped, which is practically a requirement for a bookstore but not great for social distancing, but word is they’re moving locations (no idea where to) so keep that in mind and keep an eye out for it once it completes its third flight. I can’t recommend this place strongly enough. Just go there.

It's bigger than it looks. Parking lot out back and well stocked shelves with a broad selection. It's worth a stop. If you are looking for table top RPGs you won't find much but there is plenty of everything else, not just romance novels.

Great selection of books. Friendly staff. Great prices. There's this Christmas tree in the middle of the store with tags on it. Each tag has a book you can purchase for a local teacher. Very creative way to support local schools.

Just received my second online order, this time PUZZLES! The staff was very responsive via email when I realized I had mistyped my mailing address. Very pleased with the quality and price of this purchase (and my books from a previous order). Can't wait to support this local store again.

My daughter dragged me here for a book signing and I'm so glad. It's a lovely, spacious store with a wide variety of books. The employees were wonderful.

I randomly stumbled across Second Flight Books on TikTok one day and decided to take a look. I don’t live in Indiana, but they have quickly become my go-to for buying any books. I love that they have a rich, diverse, and cost effective used book selection. I’m have found so many great things online and had them shipped to me. Their customer service is top notch and I feel special and seen by them each time I order. I can’t say enough good things about Second Flight and can’t wait til I have a chance to visit in person!!

What a little gem of a bookstore. A maze of shelves with a wide variety of books. Cute children's area. Lots of small gifts especially for book lovers. Colorful and nice lighting even in the basement area. Buy, sell, place an order for books. A bright spot on a rainy cold winter day.

Love love love this bookstore! The new location offers room after room of various genres of clean and well organized books, with something to please all ages. There is also a great selection of gifts for book lovers and a fabulous kids area. If you love books this is a great place to go in the Lafayette area. Also, you can feel comfortable and safe going here because they ask all customers to wear a mask. Thanks Second Flight Books for offering a safe haven for book lovers to browse!

Cute, smaller used book store that is lovely to be inside. Staff is pleasant and helpful and the environment inside is extremely welcoming. I also got a normally $29 book for just over $8, so they are super cheap.

Great bookshop with plenty of choice for everyone...

My favorite book store in town! Has a great selection of used and new books and fun literary novelties. The new store is amazing and I love have an indie bookstore to support. Also, thank you for making masks mandatory during the pandemic. You are listening to the science and making it a welcome environment for all.

They have a really great selection of books and are always willing to order anything I may not find.

I love this bookstore! It has an excellent selection of new and used books, bookish art from local artists, and bookish goods from places like Out of Print! The owners and clerks are friendly and knowledgeable. The events are great! They are well-attended, but never too crowded for the space and usually introduce you to great local authors and other small business owners. I highly recommend making this a stop on your trip through Lafayette on a visit or a regular haunt if you live close by!
