Trish's Red Bird Cafe

One of the best small-town stops I've ever been! The food isn't even the best part, although it is delightful. I have only had breakfast here, but I am looking forward to trying lunch/dinner, as well! The walls are filled with fun local history and it has the everybody-knows-everybody vibe going on. My favorite part is seeing the owner, Trish, serving customers and making new friends! If you want the most wholesome dining experience, the Red Bird Cafe is the place to go!

Both my husband and myself ordered the Mushroom and Swiss Stuffed Burger. It was amazing! You can order it anyway you like . It was fat and compact and so very flavorful and juicey. The tater tots were perfect and my husband enjoyed the onion rings . Great stop with great people .

The Grandfather's Roast Beef dinner was the best I have eaten in 70 years. I would love to take the brown gravy with me to eternity.

Wow! First time getting over here and man was it worth the trip! I had a Phoenix sandwich with fried mushroom slices. It was delightful. The sandwich was grilled spicy chicken with maple bacon and pepper jack cheese. It was a wonderful mild heat coupled with a hint of sweetness from the maple bacon. Maybe the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. The mushrooms were also great. Very nice atmosphere with a great waitress. Drove there from the far side of west lafayette, but it was well worth the trip. Can't wait to go back!

Amazing!!! Excellent, super fresh food and amazing service. Trish herself served our party of three families, and did an amazing job. She was very kind and personable, and made everyone feel welcome. Everyone enjoyed their food. The Cobb salad is massive, and the BLT wrap is delicious. Strawberry rhubarb pie was great as well. I definitely plan to return!

Just a hop, skip and a jump off I-65. Homemade food. Cinnamon pastries were to die for. Mac and cheese was one of the best. Meatloaf platter was above average and BLT was avg. with thick cut tomatoes, (almost too thick). Would come back again. Great decor and friendly staff. Breakfast all day and they serve alcohol.

This place is the small town diner you've always wanted to go to. The building used to be an old firehouse, among other things, and there are still the old steel girders in the ceiling. The space is clean, tidy, and updated. I found it welcoming.

I was there for a special event. The service was friendly and attentive. I had the beef Manhattan and enjoyed it. The gravy didn't appear to be homemade, but it complemented the rest of the dish. We had cole slaw and green beans for sides. They were just what they were supposed to be and fit the rest of the meal nicely.

I was too full for dessert, but it the ones I saw looked pretty good. They do breakfast all day, and we may go back to try it. This looks like the kind of place that takes breakfast seriously :-)

Great diner! Great breakfast! The food was not processed/packaged. My husband said his "steak and eggs" was the best he ever had. The beignets were a welcome surprise.

Called in a to go order today for lunch. When I called, the girl who took my order was extremely pleasant (I think it was Hayley). I ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu for the first time. This sandwich is delicious! The thick cut grilled ham really got me. I wasn't expecting it to be so thick, but that portion perfectly accompanied the flavor of the chicken and Swiss cheese. Great ratio! Trish was out in the lobby when I came in to grab my order and of course always makes me feel welcome. She has always been a supporter of our nonprofit and it is not unappreciated. Great place, great people and fantastic food! Highly recommended!

This is our 2nd time. 1st time we were here for Friday dinner. It was great. Today we had breakfast. I loved my omelette. My husband had the farmer’s breakfast. He said the bread (fresh from an Indianapolis bakery) was delicious. Plus we shared a fabulous cinnamon roll. Portions were good size. Service was great. All the employees are very happy and seem to like being at work.
Very enjoyable experience. Looking forward to our next visit.

This was our first visit and it was definitely worth the stop! If you like fried mushrooms the Fried Sliced Mushrooms are a must! We got the stuffed burgers and they were very good. New Favorite place! We were almost done before I thought to take pictures!

Great stuffed burgers, great tenderloins, great onion rings, daughter loved the smiley-face fries, great staff, great atmosphere. Menu's are a slick design. Daily specials are offered. The interior is open, well-lit and clean. Will be coming back for Wednesday's All-you-can-eat catfish special.

Friendly staff that was very efficient for our group. The food was delicious and hot. Drinks were quickly refilled. A sliding door gave privacy for conversations. The entryway has some real unique gifts, and prices were reasonable.

Had the Friday prime rib dinner. Excellent. The green bean side dish was best I have had. Staff was friendly and very efficient. A real pleasure.

Food and service were fantastic! Local diner vibe with made from scratch menu items. Farmer's breakfast with hand breaded country fried steak and made to order cinnamon rolls in my photos.

Very clean little restaurant love the decor and old gas station made over into a restaurant. I ordered the homemade battered fried tenderloin it was spectacular

Easy access from the Interstate. We were greeted and seated right away. Every worker was kind and friendly to us and our children. Clean restaurant and bathrooms. Great tasting food, really good service, and great portions for the price. Nostalgic diner atmosphere with very nice music. We will be stopping back again in the future, on our drive from Ohio to Chicago :-)

As much as I enjoyed the food and drinks (they did NOT hold back on the cherry in my coke) the service was even better. They had a friendly staff and were extremely kid friendly. They kept coming and checking on my 20 month old son, who was massively wolfing down his blueberry pancakes. I have never seen someone put away so much food in a little body. Sadly, he made a bit of a mess, but they told me not to worry about it, even though I offered to help clean it up. They were just happy here, and I came in and spent a father son lunch together. They were genuinely happy to see his smiling, happy face and listen to him laugh and giggle as he strangled each pancake in his little chubby fist.

I was simply overwhelmed by the friendliness and close nature and atmosphere the restaurant provided as well as the service. It was so nice, warm, and inviting that you feel like you can just lean over and talk to the table next to you. Which a few of us did . Thank you Trish for having such a wonderful establishment and for training your staff as well as you do. Even though it is quite a drive for us to get out to Dayton and Lafayette, I can assure you we will be back. We had a great time. You should be very proud for what you have built there, you’ve done an excellent job!

There were 8 of us, but the service was great despite the large group. It was hard to decide what to order because everything sounded good. And I loved looking at all the vintage items used to decorate the place.
