MCL Restaurant & Bakery West Lafayette

We used the banquet room on a Tuesday afternoon. I am fairly sure there were more of us than I told them there would be. They handled it like pros. Everything was ready, clean, and the food was absolutely delicious! We were through the line quickly and since they have so many choices everyone was delighted with their meals and not a soul was hungry.

Angel, the lady I set up reservations with, was so helpful. She checked on us several times and made sure we had every we needed. And Manuel helped us get to our seats, took care of drinks, and prebussed our table so that we could sit comfortably and talk after our meal.
I also thought it was nice to see the managers serving on the line. Far too often in restaurants I see managers unwilling to pitch in and help.

We had a great experience. If you have a large group to feed, this is definitely the place to eat!

Since MCL closed up YEARS ago up in South Bend, I was so excited to see that they were open in Lafayette....only to lose that joy once arriving and a note posted on the door stating they were closing their doors on January 19th. Everyone working there was very polite and made me feel at home. The food was delicious & the atmosphere was delightful. It was a wonderful experience to step back in time from when my family would enjoy our dinners and have wonderful conversations. I'm lucky enough to have enjoyed my time spent here today and MCL will always remain special to me.

For five years, I have lived two blocks from this restaurant, and never given it a thought. "thinking just cafeteria food". Saturday several friend want to get lunch there, ok along for the ride. I was really surprised with the quality of the food and the attention to detail by the servers. I had the beef Manhattan, they trimmed all of the fat off, before assembling. The bread was outstanding, very good dining experience. Will be back.

I hadn't eaten at an MCL is many years. I was asked to speak before a group that gathers here weekly because they have very nice, private banquet rooms. The food was absolutely amazing and the service & friendliness of the staff was top-notch. I have since suggested to some friends that we have occasional meetings there, etc.

My family has been going to this MCL for years, maybe 18 or so, as the lunch destination of choice when we would visit our grandparents in Ohio (we were driving from chicago). Our family has held two reunions at this location and it always brings back some nice memories.

The food is always great and the service has always been friendly. Over all those years I don't think I've had a bad experience.

Cafeteria style. This has been a family favorite for over 35 years. Homemade food. Desserts are amazing! Chicken and noodles are the best! Beef Manhattan will leave you stuffed all day. Good place to eat for homemade comfort food.

MCL is a great place to eat. Food is always made fresh and delicious.
Some young people feel it's beneath their dignity to go there. A big part of their complaint is only older people go there. Well, DUH! Why did you think we do!!!???
Because we are smart and know where to inget really good food that doesn't taste generic. It's really nice to buy exactly what and how much you want, as little as you like or mix and match food items.
SO WHY WOULDN'T WE GO THERE????? We are wiser and see all the advantages, like we can buy what we can afford to pay for.
Some day, as you mature, your eyes will be open and you may just find yourself eating at MCL!

How can you not like this place? They have an abundance of food options, including jello, which is great for kids, plus their cornbread is amazing. They could be considered pricey but you get what you pay for in quality of food.

MCL has always been a family favorite of mine since I was born, and even before that, and now my son! I remember after my grandfather passed away we went as a huge family, mind you 50+ people and had a large room in the back. Then when my grandma passed away we all just decided to go there LOL just like when Papa died and they housed us perfectly and treated us like family. I truly do feel at home when I'm there, in the green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy haven't changed in 30 plus years! If you're needing some place to go when you're feeling lonely, miss your family, or just want to feel like you're in your own dining room at home go ahead and go to MCL because the staff is welcoming, warming, and treat you like one of their own!

MCL has a great variety of food to choose from. I especially like it that if you're watching your caloric intake it is easy to make smart choices here. It is a super place to come with family and friends or just by yourself. Good food that taste homemade. I highly recommend it!

Clean and comfortable. We eat there about every two weeks, always a good experience. Good food at a good price. Plenty of selections, plenty of seating, even for large groups. Plenty of parking, easy to get to.

Choices you don't get at any chains. Food quality is very good. Cost comparable to chains. A shame this location is closing. Cafeterias are worth visiting wherever they may be found.

This was an exceptional place with excellent food and the employees were spectacular. It saddens me that they are now out of business. Our family will miss them.

Cafeteria style service means no waiting for your food. It's reasonably priced and delicious! I would recommend trying the mac n cheese and green beans.

This is a quaint and cozy cafeteria-style haven. From the minute you walk in the door, you notice the sweet smells and cozy ambiance. Wonderful comfort food. This place does not disappoint.

I love this restaurant...very clean(except Manuel)...food is always hot and very down home taste...I visit multiple. Times a month....can't say how much I love it....Manuel is the Waiter who won't refill if your not a heavy tipper

Excellent food and good for big parties food was a little cold though. Other then that the desserts well just day I didn't see 1 I didn't think I'd like. Very friendly staff 😊

Great comfort food. Fried chicken and mac'n'cheese is beautiful. Fresh green beans wonderful. Cinnamon rolls delicious. Clean. It is cafeteria style.

Our Magicians group The Bob Hurt/Ron London Ring 219 of The International Brotherhood of Magicians have been coming here for many years now,for our annual installation of officers, and will continue to for many more to come. The staff is friendly and courteous, and the food is always fresh and home made.

MCL is not the same. This location has exceptional service and great food. We had a special event here and the food was delicious. I have been converted and now look for MCL when in other cities.
