What a great local place for a walk. Lots of trail options, you can walk around for a very long time! The trails are marked with maps at each intersection. If it's been raining there is a small section of sticky mud otherwise it's nice gravel or grass paths. Great for bird watching and porta potties here n there!

Always a great place to spend 2-3 hours. The visitor center has some great info. Also worth checking out and adding your own sightings of birds and animals. One of the loops has bird homes all along with beautiful tree swallows and the wetland had cranes, geese and egrets. There were also some wildflowers when we visited. Bring a hat and some sandwiches and enjoy nature.

Always a fun place to take a nice walk and observe wildlife. Kids can expend some energy, see many different birds and plants and spark some good conversations.

Go and wall around in this incredibly peaceful, lush refuge. They've done some amazing restoration work here. Lots of birds in the spring. (Also too much development nearby but still good for now) no dogs or noise. Otherwise ahhhhhh

Great place to experience nature in the hillsboro area. Parking near the nature center can fill up quick on nice days, but generally very quiet on the further out trails & there are always spaces at the hillsboro entrance. Certain trails can flood or be muddy depending on the weather.

It's a nice preserve. Green and scenic. Nice trails around the ponds, I would visit again. Free which is nice. They only have porterpotties for bathrooms

Love this place. Great for teaching young kids about animals and their habitats. They have classes year round to teach about all sorts of subjects (related to animals in the wetlands) as well as some seasonal events for the kids (like a mini festival/fair/petting zoo with animals and small games).

Most of the staff is phenomenal and very friendly; I did have one encounter with the front desk woman who was not so pleasant when I mixed up my times and showed up early to a class for my daughter.

Will continue to support.

Amazing gem of a place. Up until around 14 years ago this site was entirely a degrade field full of reed canary grass. It’s an amazing example of what is possible with restoration. Now it’s full of native communities including forested wetlands all of which have been planted and sustained over the last decade and a half.

Great place to see wildlife, practice botany and enjoy nature!

Update 04/03/2024: Oregon Ash Trail including viewing deck closed. -Good place for bird watching. We have seen bald eagles, osprey, kingfishers, beaver, garter snakes, rabbits, turtles, frogs, carp, nutria and a variety of waterfowl and songbirds. Free paved parking. Trails are clean and well maintained. Trail surfaces include dirt, gravel, mowed vegetation and chipped wood. Subject to flooding in some areas. Trails are well marked with maps and directional signs at intersections. Benches are available on some of the trails. Restroom in parking lot has a pit toilet and needs attention. Restrooms are available inside the Education Center when open. Dogs are not allowed.

You absolutely must visit the Jackson Bottom Wetlands!!! It is like going on a staycation for the day. The wetlands are gorgeous. Teeming with all kinds of amazing wildlife to spot living among beautiful lakes and streams surrounded by the most diverse and fragrant and beautiful vegetation. When we went we got soaked but it was so beautiful we didn't care and then when the sun came out we were on the trails and as the sun warmed the many flowers and plants the air filled with all kinds of sweet and refreshing fragrance. It was truly magical. We moved just outside of town to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the city and then within a year the city started a huge construction project widening the two streets adjacent to our home from 2 to 6 lanes so our house rumbles and we hear loud banging, beeping, and construction noises from early in the morning into the night at least 5 days a week. They chopped down ALL of the gorgeous old growth trees around our home. It is awful, so sad. Visiting the wetlands was a much needed break in a place full of life and beauty and nature. It just melts the stress away. The kids had a blast and did not want to leave. The visitor center is awesome as well, very informative in a very fun way. The kids spent an hour just in the visitor center area and would have spent another hour if they weren't closing! The staff was just lovely and very informative. They have fun little science kits, stuffed animals and animal toys, knick knacks, locally made jewelry, toys, bird feeders, wind chimes and many other neat things in the gift shop. They suggest a small donation but I promise you will be moved to donate to this amazing project. We especially loved sitting in the visitor center after a long adventure and watching the wildlife right outside! It is packed with beautiful birds of all colors and sizes singing their songs, hopping around eating the bird feed, and squirrels and chipmunks running around, darting in and out of the bushes and trees to get their share of the snacks and play with each other. It was the best show. We will most definitely be back and we are so thankful for this treasure we found! Advice: if there is any chance of rain or if it has rained recently in the last few days, wear sturdy rain boots and bring a waterproof poncho or raincoat. Also, bring your camera!

This place is ridiculously beautiful, an absolute gem! Saw frogs, snakes, squirrels, and so many birds. Picture includes a mama duck and her 8 babies that we saw near the trail.

My niece and I came here to get some steps in and had a fantastic time. The trails were not crowded and we got to see some Critters along the way. Highly recommended, especially on a dryer day!

Attended the Pollinator Palooza today with my 6.5 year old & his 2 year old sister. Solid engagement by both the entire 3.5 hour visit: bees, bugs, birds, snakes, wonderful kids activities. Fabulous volunteers throughout. Thank you ALL so very much

Beautiful area to walk in. Several paths to take. Easy to kill a few hours looking at all the birds, trees, flowers, bugs, and nature. Paths are easy to walk, lots of maps to show what path to take. The educational center is open till 4pm, but the paths are open from dawn to dusk. Bring the family and enjoy the beauty.

I love taking my kids for walks here. With all the rain we've had it's interesting to see how the wetlands change. Some of the paths were washed out and the river was the highest we've seen it this year. It's great to go with different times of the year
