Amazing place created on a rock in the Indian Ocean. 👏 to the Italian owners for dreaming of this restaurant and actually building it.

A long drive from the western side of the island.

The manager is a very warm gentleman and accommodating as we arrived a little due to a car accident enroute. The ocean views from the restaurant are awesome and the food is very good.

Definitely should go to this restaurant if go to Zanzibar.

The servers are so helpful and go above and beyond to make it special. Only advice, the lobster platter is enough for 2 people minimum! We ordered 3 for our table and had way too many leftovers. We didn't feel rushed at all and the weather was perfect for outside dining!

One of the best restaurants and experiences I have ever had. The atmosphere was incredible and the food was delicious even the staff were friendly and welcoming. A must visit!

I was super excited to check out The Rock Restaurant in Zanzibar because of all the buzz. After nearly an hour's ride (we stayed on the other side of the island), we reached the stunning restaurant. Since we arrived in the early evening, the tide was low, and we could walk our way there. Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling well, so I couldn't try everything on their menu. Still, I was a bit envious seeing all the delicious dishes coming out of the kitchen. The service and hospitality, thanks to Reddy who manages the place, were incredibly kind, warm, and friendly. My friend enjoyed everything she ordered, and we would definitely recommend this place – it lived up to the hype.

Had to take a boat ride there because of the tide.
The atmosphere is great filled with art all round but it's even better to switch to the open space outside....be one with nature, breeze & a view.
You're served within 10 to 15 minutes after ordering so get a drink as you wait.
The wait staff is amazing and prompt.
Walked our way back to the shore..low tide.

The Rock is unique! Awesome service, great food, scrumptious desserts, & good drinks! The atmosphere is extraordinary! The owner was gracious; my friends and I enjoyed sitting outdoors for lunch and then sitting outdoors in the lounge setting with the spectacular view and vibe. The restaurant sits atop of a huge coral rock. Getting to and from the entrance requires walking or being carried across a narrow path that is covered by the the ocean as the tide waters rise. We did not require a boat; there is a boat available to assist when the tide is high. The whole restaurant is a vibe!

I recently visited Zanzibar and this restaurant was a must I had to go to! The experience was well worth the 2hr drive from my resort. The food was good (I had the tagliatelle pasta) and I also had the steak on a stick. The environment and views were amazing!

Planning a double birthday celebration with family, The Rock was our obvious choice.
And it certainly didn’t disappoint! We were a party of five and were seated on the side terrace with wonderful views of the ocean.
The staff were incredibly friendly and the food was first class! The seafood platter was fresh & delicious and easily enough for 2 people to share.
The staff even sang happy birthday when presenting the amazing desserts.
The whole experience was very special and I can’t recommend it highly enough!

On our way to Michamvi Kae funk. We stopped at the Rock restaurant for sightseeing and pictures. The place is nice and cool, you will meet the local and tourist at once. My client likes the beach with the view of the restaurant 🔥.

Amazing place. We just went for a drink, but the food menu looked good.
You'll get your feet wet hopping into the little boat ferry if the tide is in.

Get a reservation! I got the lobster, absolutely delightful. She got the ribeye and it was tender, juicy and flavorful. Overall, it was excellent. Drinks were okay but still tasty.

Off the beaten path between Mvchami beach and Paje lies this hidden unique restaurant on east coast of Zanzibar island. Recommend using thier online reservation system that cost nothing to book. Lunch is not as full as sunset and dinner. On a sunny day make sure you have you sun block if sitting outside, it get hot. The large table at the zenith point of the rock is the best table with views of the coast, fisherman, and restaurant. The prices include the 15% VAT. Be sure to tip you waiters well and the ferry boat man getting you to restaurant at high tide. Recommend the tagliatelle and lobster dish or the couscous and lobster. The chocococo with passions fruit for dessert is incredibly tasty and delicious. The food matches the scenery here.

As all the other posts mention, the atmosphere is incredible! Service was really good and the perfect place for a relaxing lunch or dinner. The food was excellent in presentation. The meal I had which is the black rice, didn't have as much seasoning as I was looking for but I can see healthy food lovers really liking it. I did try my friends pasta which was really good. The coconut tiramisu though...incredible! But overall, really good and intimate experience for anyone's Zanzibar trip.

The Rock is one of the jewels of Zanzibar IMO. Taking a quick boat trip from the shoreline to the restaurant was a pleasant twist! The food, views, customer service & vibe were all on point!

Lovely restaurant with great food (try the pistaccio tiramisu) and great views. Prices are a bit more on the high end, but you pay for the unique location and setup. Can recommend going there :)
