Very nice hotel, the individual cottages have an older feel, but the pool is amazing and has a very good aura. Breakfast and coffee are excellent, dinner also, there are Italian dishes so one has a nice change if one is in Zanzibar for a longer time and changes hotels, the staff is very nice and helpful, the management also. The quality corresponds to the price.

Thank you for our wonderful and relaxing stay at Baladin. The location and area is great - everything is super clean, the staff super friendly and the taxi transfer was easy to coordinate. We were welcomed with a drink and loved the hospitality from the first second. The bungalows are modern and stylish equipped with an outdoor shower and AC. You find many spots where to relax like at the pool or many other places where you find sun beds or hammocks under the palmtrees. As this is a boutique hotel with 12 rooms/bungalows only, everything is quiet and we loved the atmosphere - a real paradise! Tina&Stev

We had an incredible time at Baladin Hotel while celebrating my husband's birthday.

The rooms were not just clean but had a cool and unique design that added a special touch to our stay. But what really made it stand out was the amazing staff, especially Nicole and Rachid - they made us feel right at home.

The breakfast options were plentiful and delicious, just like the other dishes we tried at their restaurant.

And let's talk about the location! Super close to the Rock, and the beach was blissfully uncrowded. No vendors like in Nungwi - just the pure beauty of Zanzibar.

Long story short, our time at the hotel was nothing short of amazing.

We had an amazing stay at Baladin. The location is perfect, the rooms are great and the restaurant delivers on both flavour and ambience. White lotus vibes.

Nicole, the owner, was extremely helpful and welcoming. She went above and beyond to help us retrieve a missing passport.

Definitely a must stay if you’re in Zanzibar. We booked an extra night and still didn’t want to leave.

Stayed in this beautiful place from 13th to 17th January 2024. The most accommodating place the staff to the owners The location was great just few minutes walk to the famous rock restaurant. We mistakenly forgot our check out date and they were soo accommodating and allowed us one extra night stay. The place also offers lots of great activities at good rates and transport too. You won’t be disappointed!!

Baladin is a very charming hotel! Beautifully located right on the beach with cosy atmosphere and nicely arranged and pretty rooms. I was lucky to have a room on the second floor with direct open view on the ocean. What I personally missed was: to have a shower or more practical bathtub, a proper blanket on the bed because of the AC, some body lotion (definitely missing) a curtain on the glass door for intimacy for the toilets and a better Wi-Fi connection in that specific part of the hotel/room. The pool is small but nice and you are close to many other hotels and restaurants if you want to change scenery. Breakfast is good with some choice but shame there was no plain yoghurt and no avocado on some days. Also, muesli was pretty basic when it could have been local with roasted nuts. Bread is really good compared to other places. We didn’t really eat there otherwise but apparently it was good. We just had some drinks at the bar where there’s choice and fair prices.

What a BEAUTIFUL and PEACEFUL resort! Everyone was extremely nice and hands on...Every single staff member said Hello everytime I saw them. Food was Amazing. The ambiance was to die for.. The pool was refreshing and the vibe was tranquility at it's finest. We chose this side of the island as it was more secluded and away from the crowds of both tourist and local..They only issue was most things were at least 1hr to 2hrs away..execpt Paje..about 15 mins...but if I had to chose again..I would still chose the Baladin!

I absolutely loved my stay at Baladin, Zanzibar Beach Hotel.

The ambiance of the entire complex was simply amazing, just like a tranquil oasis with a rustic, boho touch to it. It was the perfect escape to unwind and relax. Perfect place for photographers or anyone wanting beautiful Zanzibar photos!

The room/bungalow was so unique and beautiful. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered breathtaking views and just steps from the beach. I truly lived in paradise here and loved that the rooms incorporated the nature from the outside. I loved the upper loft option for sleeping too! It was a great touch.

The infinity pool that aligned with the beach was the cherry on top. There are many things to do at Baladin Zanzibar such as rent kayaks, relax on their cute beach chairs and hammocks & get massages.

Don’t forget to try their amazing menu as the food here is delicious and unique! There is something for everyone on the menu :)

Here are some photos from my stay that I took to capture the memories!

As if the stay couldn’t get any better, the staff at Baladin Zanzibar was absolutely remarkable. They were always quick to assist and made my stay their top priority. Their warmth and hospitality added an extra touch to my vacation.

Baladin is a hidden gem on the island. So reasonably priced for what this slice of paradise has to offer!

The staff are lovely from the moment you check in and have your welcome drink.

You can buy a reusable water bottle for $5 to refill as much as you need during your stay, or otherwise pay for bottled water each time. This is actually an amazing feature, as Zanzibar has a HUGE plastic problem, and not enough hotels are doing much to combat their plastic waste.

The rooms have such a unique aesthetic, I highly recommend one of the bungalows! They each have two single beds downstairs, and a king sized bed upstairs in a loft area - can fit a couple +2 easily. All beds are comfortable and have bug nets. My favourite feature of the room has to be the open air bathroom - showering in the fresh tropical air with palm trees swaying behind you is a feeling like no other!

And of course all of the necessities are there - air conditioning, a safe, coffee machine, closet.

Another focus on sustainability is a recycled bag in the room that you can put any trash or recycling you find from the beach.

The property itself has an infinity pool with a pool bar, multiple areas to relax by the ocean and/or dine in, and a small boutique. The ocean is stunning and on a quieter stretch of beach with sandbanks you can walk along at lower tide, just steps away from the infamous restaurant The Rock. But the food at Baladin itself is to die for…the best I’ve ever eaten on the island for sure. High quality ingredients, and some things I have never seen on the island - like Burrata!! And the best lasagna in Zanzibar. I also recommend the chicken bo bun and calamari!

You have to try their draft beer, or any of the other craft beers that Baladin brews themselves!!

I came for an early birthday stay, and they surprised me with a whole cake which was so sweet and delicious.

Really, I can’t recommend Baladin enough - definitely the highest value you’ll get for this price in Zanzibar.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Baladin Zanzibar Beach Hotel, and I must say that it was a great experience. The location of the hotel, right on the beach, provided breathtaking views of the ocean that made our stay even more enchanting.

The rooms at Baladin were immaculate and well kept. From the moment we entered our room, we were impressed by the cleanliness and the beautiful presentation. The attention to detail in the room decor added a touch of elegance to our stay.

One of the highlights of our culinary experience at Baladin was the menu, which offered a diverse range of options. Personally, I found the pizza to be absolutely delightful. The chefs at Baladin certainly know how to create a memorable dining experience.

When it comes to drinks, Baladin didn't disappoint either. The cocktails and beverages served were amazing, and the staff were incredibly generous with their pours.

A delightful surprise during our time at Baladin was the presence of the resident dogs and cat. These adorable animals were sweethearts and added an extra touch of warmth and charm to the hotel's atmosphere. It was a pleasure interacting with them and seeing how well they were cared for.

What truly set Baladin apart from other hotels, however, was the exceptional staff. The team went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. They were incredibly accommodating, friendly, and took the time to engage in light-hearted conversations, making us feel like valued guests.

While our overall experience at Baladin Zanzibar Beach Hotel was outstanding, there was one minor disappointment. The Baladin beer, which was one of the reasons we chose to book our stay at this hotel, was unfortunately not available during our visit. This was a letdown for us, as we were looking forward to trying it.

In conclusion, our stay at Baladin Zanzibar Beach Hotel was wonderful. The hotel's stunning location, well-kept rooms, delicious food, and amazing drinks, combined with the friendly and accommodating staff, made our time there truly memorable. Despite the minor issue with the beer, we highly recommend Baladin to anyone looking for a beachfront retreat with excellent service.

A very good hotel, with extremely kind staff, and the hosts are very welcoming and give you the impression that they are your friends. We came here with toxic food infection from another hotel, and the managers were very nice and attentive to make us feel as good as possible.

The hotel is extremely close to The Rock, a 5 minute walk to the beach and can be seen directly from the beach. It's worth getting there at least once to take a picture, but the food is better at the hotel restaurant and it's not expensive.

We stayed here for 4 days, during which we tried almost every food they have on the menu and I can say that it is very tasty (they also have an extremely good pizza).

The bungalow we stayed in was very clean, just like in the pictures. A small suggestion, to bring adapters for UK socket with you if you are traveling from Europe.

The place is very quiet, with a very beautiful beach and without much seaweed. Also, in the area there are not so many Maasai people or people who will approach you with excursions.

The hotel offers you different packages with excursions that can be taken directly from them without having to resort to all kinds of locals who may not offer you the same safety or trust. They can also call you a taxi to get to different places on the island, as well as transfer from/to the airport with one of the best drivers, Mustafa.

It is a hotel that I recommend with confidence, a hotel that I definitely want to come back to, where you can relax and enjoy the Zanzibar vibe that it offers you, combining the modern with what it offers you the island.

We loved everything at Baladin : the design featuring natural elements, the infinity pool in the shape of an eye, the relaxing ambiance, the delicious food and the ideal location on a private beach stretch of Michamvi next to the famous The Rock restaurant.
It was the perfect location for our honeymoon and we highly recommend it! Thank you to all the team for such a lovely stay.

What an incredible time I had at the baladin. We spent nine amazing nights at this stunning hotel. The beach bungalows are beautiful and waking up to the sound of the ocean is the best feeling in the world. The staff are so helpful and friendly and the food is delicious. Loved every minute and can't recommend it enough.

We stayed for a week at Baladin at the end of our month long Africa adventure and it was absolutely the perfect choice! Communication with Baladin prior to arrival was always quick and clear. Unfortunately we had an already late arrival on a flight from Nairobi that was further delayed by the airline. But the Baladin-organized taxi was waiting for us and after the long drive Rachid was waiting with a friendly smile and warm welcome, even though it was very late at night and well beyond normal check-in hours. Woke up in the morning to gorgeous views, a fantastic boutique room and property and smiles all around. The property is directly on a beautiful white sand beach with multi-hued turquoise seas. The property is very well maintained with the sand regularly raked, walkways swept, leaves gathered, etc. We loved the tidal nature where there was always something to explore and changing vistas. The bungalows are beautifully designed with such attention to small details. We were only a few steps from the infinity pool with plenty of seating options, also overlooking the sea. Food was excellent. Delicious, high quality and always promptly served. We ate most of our meals at Baladin, there was no reason to go anywhere else. Nicole and Rachid are the most gracious and welcoming hosts and just all around great people. SO personable and always checking in with all guests to ensure their stay is going well. They had plenty of great suggestions and took the time to discuss. The excursions organized by the hotel were fantastic - made it so easy to organize and really great value. The sunset cruise is an absolute must and also loved our visit to Maalun Cave. We look forward to returning one day!

Baladin is one of the best hotels I stayed in Zanzibar. I would even go so far and say it’s better than Mneba Island, at least for me. The stuff at the hotel is very friendly and helpful, no matter which request I have they always try to find a solution. Before I even stayed at the hotel, I contacted them via email and they would always reply very fast. The hotel itself is just amazing, the rooms are clean and well kept, exactly as in the pictures. It’s a very stylish tulum vibe, everything is kept in white which makes this place look very exclusive and gives you a feeling of modern luxury. Even though the place is not very big, it’s enough space for every hotel guest to have their own space and lay in privat. There are sunbeds at the pool but also next to the pool on the sand. Due to some really beautiful Mangroves planted on the hotel property is every sunbed on the beach very secluded from each other. Which I personally like because you get some sort of privacy while looking and enjoying the ocean. One very important thing to notice, even when it’s low tide it’s still possible to go swimming in the ocean because the hotel is located right in front of a sand bank (only during low tide). You have to walk a few minutes until you reach the water but it’s definitely worth it. I can 100% recommend this hotel and I would always choose to stay here again.

If you're in the area for one night, visit Baladin, not The Rock. This was the surprise of the trip for us. Exceptional cocktails, food and service, all right on the beach. We didn't stay at the hotel, but visited their newly opened restaurant (as of June 1, 2022) at least once a day. While much of the menu is Italian, the items that are more local are really excellent. The octopus and chicken curry were top notch. Their pizzas were excellent with a broad selection of toppings - from imported peperroni, to seafood.

Will be recommending and returning!
