Xueshan

I hiked 雪山 with some friends in February 2024 (SNOW), starting from Wuling farm and coming back in one day. 15hours of hiking (9hours up, 6hours down) and you walk through very diverse sceneries.

Advice for winter climbers: bring sticks, good hiking shoes, spikes for the shoes and dress up warmly!

It’s a hard hike but it’s 100% worth it. The last part (as shown in my video) looks like you hiking mt Everest or something 😅. It’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever done in my life yet!

Watching a mountain sunrise amidst clouds and savoring delicious food is a truly memorable and immersive experience. It combines the awe-inspiring beauty of nature with the pleasures of culinary delights.

two hours hiking from the 369 cabin and you’re at the top. the first part through the forest is easy to follow (also in the dark), make sure to follow the signs when you leave the forest and stay left from the glacier cirque to reach the top. obviously you will sweat a lot and at the top its cold so be prepared for that.

Beautiful hike with a very varied scenery! Getting the lottery for housing can be difficult but don't give up!

The Black Forest is most beautiful with fog and/or minor rain, not to mention snowy conditions.
Possible sighting of wild life.

Despite it's name, visiting Snow Mountain while there's snow on it is difficult and very time limited. If you're lucky, definitely bring the metal shoe spikes thingies as it's rather frozen ice than snow.

Also possible to do one day hike, if you can't get any housing.
(Sneaky camping still possible in a few areas, especially past the Main peak)

We were there since April. No word can describe the amaze of its beauty. Absolutely will return again.

This is the most famous mountain in Taiwan for people who want to see and experience the snow during winter. It was a fun experience for me in visiting this place. Every moment is worth it. I travel with some new friends who are really kind and fun to be with. Just to share, while we are inside the car going up the mountain, we made an experiment which is waiting for the snacks to burst in it's own packaging because of the gravity and it really happend. I hope I could able to record a video of that haha!.
After a long travel, we reached the top of the snow mountain. I feel like one of my dreams came true because it was my childhood dream to see and experience the snow. Although, the snow is about to melt because summer is approaching but I still enjoyed it. Some visit the place during the peak season of winter which is very cold and some are lucky to really experience the snow storm but I guess it is still a perfect timing for us to come at that time because it wasn' t so cold. Yes there is snow around but the sun is up and shining which give us heat that our body need to survive in that place. It help us survive the cold and have more time to enjoy the beautiful Snow Mountain. Guess what?!?:) Some of my friends took off their winter coat and took a selfie which I think is cool. It is just like they are showing how brave they are for doing that where in fact it wasn't that hard because the sun is up and it was not sooo cold. Yeah it is cold but still tolerable because of the heat from the sun. Indeed, this is the most unforgettable place I ever visited in Taiwan. It makes one of my dream came true. I am sooo happy. :)

I climbed this in January 2019 with a group lead by Taiwan Adventures ( great company by the way I’ve used them twice now ). Sadly no snow but very cold on the top. We climbed through the night from the hut to arrive for sunrise. Absolutely stunning and well worth it. Nothing technical but a nonetheless demanding walk. The only thing I don’t love though, is a feature of many Taiwanese mountains and is the man-made steps for large sections of the climb. I must admit lots of places in the uk are getting like this as well in response to erosion. This should be a serious consideration for any active outsdoors person visiting Taiwan. Thoroughly recommend. The advantages of going with a group are - they deal with the access issues, transport, food, route finding and you meet loads of great new people and with this company there are no language issues.

雪山主東兩天一夜技術總結
1. 上主峰最後一段抖上不好走，算是這經典路線最難的一段
2. 目前三六九山莊整修，有多了三六九臨時營地可以搶，搶的人少很多所以現在搶到的機會很多(禮拜六甚至沒滿)
3. 水源在三六九山莊原址前下階梯左側的水龍頭，水源穩定
4. 三六九臨時營地無訊號，過三六九山莊到上主峰前幾乎都沒訊號，三六九山莊有零星訊號(中華電信)
5. 三六九山莊道臨時營地有一段抖下，不太好走，半夜起登容易走過頭要注意
6. 布農協作目前行情價1600(晚餐+早餐+睡袋+帳篷含搭+可飲用熱水)，晚餐五菜一湯還有薑茶，早餐稀飯配一堆罐頭
7. 哭坡觀景台到東峰爬升蠻多的會小累
8. 登山口到哭坡輕鬆慢慢走，算好走的之字路
9. 七卡山莊很高級，記得進去參觀一下

前往雪山的這一路上，從哭坡到369山莊，劍竹林穿梭到黑森林，上主峰的最後那幾公里，是綿延漫長的陡上坡，隨著天色漸漸亮起，身邊包圍著我的是一大片無比震撼的雪山圈谷，人品爆棚的給了一幅無比動人的山水畫，站在台灣第二高峰雪山上遠眺著中央山脈稜線及日出渲染的天空，帶走了所有的煩惱
