A fellow traveler brought me and another wanderer here. He said that this temple is known for people who pray for love and companionship. I already have someone near and dear to me so I prayed for something else that was related to family.

You can donate money for incense at the front of the temple. Or, you can enter at the door to the left while under the awning to donate money to the attendant and you'll get spirit money (joss paper) and incense. Light your incense, and as we do in eastern cultures; enter the temple at the left-most door and make your way to the right, or, clockwise--praying at each deity you wish. When you're done inside the temple, put your joss paper in the red bags to be burnt as an offering later. And, set your incense in the giant bronze censer in front of the temple while closing up your prayer.

I don't know if I really believe in this stuff but it was still a very beautiful and fulfilling process to get my hopes and wishes out into the universe.

This is the Taipei Xia-Hai City God Temple (台北霞海城隍廟), easily one of the most historic spots in Taipei, with a distinctive name and unique provenance.

Furthermore, every summer the temple and surrounding neighborhood comes alive as the City God’s birthday is celebrated with two processionals, each with their roots in ancient tradition.

Usually taking place in June, the Taipei Xia-Hai City God Cultural Festival (台北霞海城隍文化節) offers opportunities to explore and enjoy a historic, revitalized Dadaocheng as the weather warms up.

This temple is one of the most famous temples in Taiwan. It is known for its miraculous prayers. On the way here, you can admire the old Taiwanese architecture and visit some specialty shops. It is a very suitable place to experience Taiwanese culture before traveling. If you are a foreign tourist living in Taipei, you can come here.

Knew this place was famous, so i gave this place a shot and sent my prayers to yue lao (月老). Will come back to my review in few years to update whether my prayers come true!😆 (Might be a lil difficult for foreigners to navigate and understand the procedures unless you speak mandarin)

There are 2 types of offering for your selection. If you need a full set, go to the left side of the main temple and inform the staff. It is 260 TWD and he will explain on how to worship step by step.

Apart from the temple, I found this area is so nice to walk around. There are many shops from local style to modern.

A small but colorful, beautiful temple dedicated to love. People pray to the Love God, Yue Lao, hoping to find their soulmate. Just 40 minutes from the city hall where you can experience traditional Taiwanese religion. Furthermore, the temple is surrounded by beautiful houses, and candy stores.

Beautiful authentic temple, famous for the God of love who brings couples together. One of the main landmark in Taipei. They have very clear signs for foreigners and also volunteers that well explain you the whole praying flow/procedure.

One of the most famous “love gods” in the historic center of Taipei. Expect a huge crowd.

The traditional way to worship is to buy red date from shops across street and donate to love god. After the tour, do remember to enjoy the red date tea prepared by the temple. It will bring you good luck.

I wasn’t really sure why my wife wanted me to take her here, but I found out it’s to thank the gods for a good spouse! Woo hoo! We did it boys. The area is also really cool, but I’d recommend pubic transportation as the roads are pretty small.

Definitely would recommend visiting the temple. Even if you aren't a religious person, it certainly is beautiful to witness the cultural and religious practices that take place on a regular basis here. A small puppet theatre does put up shows at times in front of the temple. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience here

Vivid temple in the beautiful neighbourhood of dadaocheng. It feels really authentic and it is beautiful to see local people giving their prayers for a favourable love life and partner. The temple itself is small but decorated with many ornaments. It can get busy in the weekends but it is worth visiting if you are around in the neighbourhood

Beautiful little temple with nice, attentive staff that explain worship procedures in English or Japanese. Has short English introductions to the deities worshiped here. If possible, come here on the 13th of the 5th lunar month (usually in June), when the entire neighborhood celebrates the city god's birthday. The temple also houses a well-known matchmaking deity (月老). Is located very close to the beautifully refurbished houses on Dihua Street.

It’s located in the city (kind of China town) which have to walk about 15-20 minutes to get there from train station.

Nice staffs and provide helpful information.
