Takeshi Kaneshiro Tree

What a magnificent half day out from Taitung. Took a train that goes directly to the countryside from Taitung and rented a basic bicycle by the station for 100TWD and simply got lost riding around the padi field. The fresh air and the view is simply breathtaking. But do avoid going at weekend or during Taiwan school holiday as I can imagine the whole area will be heavily trafficked with tourist electric scooters and bikes. Trust me, the place is more than the famous Takeshi tree

It's been a dream come true, to be here cycling. The tree and the entire Brown Boulevard, with the vast and beautiful rice fields make cycling here a different experience. Definitely worth a visit here.

A tree suddenly became a tourist destination after it appeared in an advertisement from a Taiwanese airline. The advertisement starred Taiwanese-Japanese mixed actor Takeshi Kaneshiro. Thousands of people come every day just to take pictures with a tree and a bronze teapot.

In the ad titled "I See You" shows Takeshi sipping tea under a tree. In the middle of a green rice field bund. With a typical rural Taiwan road set in the mountains.

Of course the view makes all who see smitten. Including tourists who already miss the beautiful village atmosphere. This can be found in the small town of Chisang, Taitung District, Taiwan.

This tree is famous due to a commercial of Eva Air with 金城武. Personally I think the tree is just OK, but the view around this tree is great. This place is famous for producing rice with great quality, and the location of the tree is in the middle of the huge farmland. You can see different colors in different seasons.

If you come here at 07:00 am, there will be no other tourists here. Highly recommended!

This is where Takeshi Kaneshiro sit down and drank the tea in the Eva Air advertisement. It has become a landmark and a symbolic site in Chishang, the cradle of the best rice in Taiwan, and the most beautiful town in East Rift Valley.

Nice chilling experience. Great time for the shot cos nobody to queue up for the tree shot... I can get all the nice angles I want without having people cutting into the picture. Lolz

Rent a bike and ride down the path and enjoy the view. Such a beautiful view. Love it.

I love that this is a major tourist attraction without any irony. This is a tree that Takeshi Kaneshiro sat under for an Eva Airline commercial for maybe all of a minute. And yet it's now called the Takeshi Kaneshiro's tree and there are signs pointing to it from Route 9. At some point, a typhoon nearly killed it but Taiwan got a tree doctor to come save it. We went there for the LOLs in the pouring rain but thought it was well worth the trip. There's a nice field all around it and many other similar trees dotted all around. But seeing this tree does make me want to ride down the little lanes with my white shirt flapping in the breeze and settle down to some pot of random tea under a random tree.

A proud looking tree. Worth a visit, not at all overrated in my point of view.
Takeshi Kaneshiro's presence in the advert was like a midas touch to the tourism industry of the area.

According to locals, they tried bringing in an amusement park, airports. But the local farming community wouldn't have any of those that may affect the rice of Chishang. Finally, with the advert of EVA Air, Chishang was on the map as a tourism site.

Really like it here. Enjoy driving the electric bicycle surrounding by the rice field. so beautiful.

Walk around is more interesting than renting a bike. Explore the other trees and views behind the famous tree you can get more interesting photos of the mountains and sky. Look for those places no one else captures!

Famous because of a celebrity, the tall tree by Brown Boulevard in the field is striking. The scenery around is great! Vast and refreshing!
Usually crowded with visitors who queue up for photos, the spot near to the entrance look surrounded by people afar.

Rating it 5 stars more for the beautiful and peaceful surroundings, than for the tree/spot itself. If in Taitung, definitely worth a visit to the area and a nice stroll / bike ride down 伯朗大道 to experience the gorgeous mountains and fields!
