No pictures can capture the dizzying verticality and immensity of the landscape. You have to come here and experience it. Note that some of the trails and suspension bridge crisis require permits or reservations so book ahead so you aren't disappointed! Also, note that the main road has scheduled closures during the day because of repairs being done to the road because of landslide damage. Make note of the signs so you aren't caught stuck!

Great views - must see when in Taiwan! There is no entrance fee or any other fee whatsoever! The road goes through a narrow gorge with countless tunnels, bridges and spectacular views. At most sights you have nearby parking areas. If you are with a car avoid weekends and holidays as parking space in some places can get full. If you are on. Scooter, no problem. Most of the park can be seen from the road but there are also some hiking tracks. Most of them are super easy and well maintained. Stop at the tunnel of nine turns if you are interested in the history of this place. (No car parking only Scooter)

Check for road closures ahead of your trip. As the road is prone to landslides and if there is construction ongoing they open the road only for 10-30min every few hours! (I couldn't find a reliable website where they publish those hours! The foto shows the times in October 2023.

Toroko National Park can hold its own against any other national park in the world.

East Coast Taiwan is truly beautiful, and magnificent. Such wonderful, peaceful and unforgettable scenery.

The size and beauty of the park cannot be captured in photographs, it is a place to be experienced in person.

A must see National Park if you go to Hualien. It offers the best view you may ever see and nature healing experience away from your hectic city life.

As far as its accessibility, it is highly recommended to take a guided tour as they're very experienced and due to the dangers of the environment and absolute narrow roads you can ever imagine. Try to visit during off peak and non-holiday period as there will be traffic control which will takes up a lot of your time.

🌱🌿🤍💦Taroko National Park , or as Thai tourists affectionately call it "Taroko", is the ultimate natural tourist attraction that is famously one of the top three in Taiwan. Anyone who If you like nature, like hiking, walking trail, you must not miss this place.
Ultimately walk along with viewing the beautiful marbles and wonderful blue water flowing through rocks.

🪨The highlight here is
1. Changchun Shrine or Eternal Spring Shrine was built as a memorial to those who built the highway across the central island. It cuts through Taroko National Park near the eastern entrance. The highlight viewpoint here is the beautiful shrine that sits above the cliffside waterfall.
2. Shakadang Trail is a rather long scenic route and takes a long time to walk, about 1-1.5 hours, but the views are very beautiful.

🚉TRA to Hualien Station, then take a shuttle bus or taxi with driver

Outstanding! One of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Amazing scenery and lovely trails accessible for almost everyone. The different nuances of blue in the water is amazing! I recommend to spend at least 2 if not even more days. There are camping free camping spots along the road. You win even have warm water during 6 am and 9 pm at these camping spots. From Hualien you can either take a bus or train (I suggest to take the train, it's faster and cheaper) to Xincheng. Get out of the Xincheng train station and you will find the bus stop directly to your left (opposite area toilets). Take the bus 302 to Tianxiang and get of wherever you wish to and get on whenever you want. Be prepared to rather wait for a long time. Since Covid they cut off the schedule and there is usually only one bus per hour. It would be great if there would be an bus every half an hour. I enjoy Shakadang Trail, Yanzikou, Buluowan area, Jiuqudong Trail as well as Baiyang trail and waterfall and wenshan hot springs.

A very nice place to visit in Taiwan! It will be less tiring to commute on a vehicle as the distance can be quite far/tiring unless you're well-prepared to trail for a long distance. Rented a scooter to travel around and it makes it so easy and fun. But do beware as the roads can get narrower and slippery. I would advise to bring along a plastic bag / carrier to dispose of trash as bins are not commonly found here. Entry is free too!

Magnificent scenery, a must visit. Features steep valleys, vertical cliffs, marbles, mountains, tunnels, and clear blue-green river.

We joined a day group tour from Klook departing from Taipei Main Station, which took around 2 hours to reach. It was a Monday, not too crowded.

We visited Xiao Zui Lu trail, Swallow Grotto Yan Zi Kou trail, Chang Chun shrine, and Qing Shui cliff.

Tried their aboriginal lunch, interesting, not bad but quite salty.

Dress for walking with a comfortable pair of shoes.

The full journey to and fro is about 8km.
In between there are kiosks which you can have local snacks.

Do check the weather as it tends to rain during certain months.

Awesome spectacular mountains and marble canyons. Cliffs and canyons stretch along Liwu River. The scenery is simply stunning along the trail. It wasn't too strenuous a hike along the trail. The exercise was a bonus. An absolute must-see if you enjoy nature, mountain and river

Because the place is quite far, it is recommended to bring your own vehicle or rent one. Your tiredness will be paid off with amazing views.

What a beautiful place. This is really a must see stop in Taiwan. If you like hiking, this is the place to be! There are a lot of different hiking routes.. from beginners to expert. For some trails you need a permit, so if you plan to visit. Check the website where you can buy a permit. If you don’t have permit it’s fine there at lot of other routes. If you are lucky you can also see some monkeys along the route

One of the most gorgeous scenery everrrrr. Breathtaking views with crystal blue waters. There’s a short hike to a place with some aboriginal souvenirs and a super juicy and yummy sausage. During the hike, the rocks are dripping water, so it feels like you’re walking in the rain. Recommended!

Very beautiful area, there’s some place really unique and beautiful.
However be really careful to the place open to the traffic. In Taiwan it can be very dangerous, it’s not safe for pedestrians.
So it’s better to find a trail to discover peacefully this wonderful place
