The Haven Khao Lak

We loved our stay at the Haven in August 2023. It was our first overseas trip post covid and didn't disappoint. We immediately felt welcomed after a huge travel day from Australia via Singapore and were pleasantly surprised that the restaurant was still open when we arrived after 9pm.
We particularly loved the huge pool, the massages, buffet breakfast and the friendly staff. The stretching classes were an added bonus. There isn't a lot to do in the area itself, but you can take the shuttle on market days and the front desk staff were very helpful in arranging full and half day trips. Bike hire is also available. The bikes are old but we found them OK for a short outing. The beach itself is a bit sad due to the amount of rubbish, but you can still enjoy a sunset walk. In terms of food we booked the all inclusive package through Luxury Escapes and as we aren't big eaters it was probably a bit too much food for us each day, but we enjoyed the quality of the meals. In August the weather was a bit ordinary for the first 2 days but generally nice and clear for the rest of the week. The resort was about half full so had a nice atmosphere without being too crowded. Be aware that the resort is around 90 minutes from Phuket airport so having a pre booked arrival transfer was well worth it after back to back flights

Absolutely love this Hotel. The rooms are nice and spacious, the staff are helpful and friendly. Breakfast was fantastic everyday. The hotel is on an amazing beach and provides a free taxi bus to town every day. Its only a short walk to some lovely restaurants or take the free bikes out for a ride. The beach here Is lovely and a short walk from the wonderful hotel swimming pools.

One of the best resorts I’ve stayed at. The service was excellent from the moment I arrived to the time I left. I highly recommend booking a room with the direct pool access. It’s great for morning and evening swims. The food and drinks were delicious and the activities were fun to partake in. I genuinely could not think of any negatives from this resort.

In December 2023 we spent 2 weeks in this lovely hotel.
Room: Originally we had booked a pool-access room but we decided to upgrade to a beachfront bungalow after we arrived. We were lucky and there was a free bungalow.
The beachfront bungalow is great, it`s big, comfortable bed, sofa, big bathroom. Pillows can be selected and are really comfy.
The beachfront bungalow has direct access to the really big main pool and we loved that. The pool is 1,6 m deep, finally a pool that is deep enough and good for swimming. The pool area - the best pool I have ever experienced, it was really great. From our terrace we had a nice view to the ocean.
Ocean: in December the sea was mainly quiet and nice and the beach is loooong, you can walk there for hours. As the hotel is quite remote, there are hardly people at the beach.
Location: quite far away from everything so if you like party and lots of restaurants and bars in walking distance, thats not the place for you. But if you want a quiet place in an absolute great location then its great for you. Within walking distance (max. 10min.) there are 4 restaurants and a minimarket, also massage. Taxis are waiting right outside the hotel and they are about 300 Baht to the center.
Restaurant and bar: food in the restaurant is really good. Good quality, also room service is nice and quite fast. The drinks at the bars are yummy.
Staff: best part!!! Everyone is so friendly and helpful, always seem to be in a good mood and they try everything to make your stay a great experience.
Renovation: yes, some things may need some renovation, but please keep in mind that the weather in Thailand is not good for all wooden installations and the last years during Covid were a hard time for the people there. When the AC in our room had a problem it was solved within 15 minutes, people are very dedicated to do everything that you have a wonderful holiday. Housekeeping is perfect, everything always very clean.
I would always stay there again - we had a great holiday!

I saw someone was there the same time we were and said the place was rundown and old. DO NOT LISTEN TO THAT! This place is amazing. Everything is new or newer looking. Yes the elevator was broken for a day or two but they fixed it right away. They had people there both days. Things break, it happens, don't let it get to you. Also, all the wood is new and it is not uneven. This resort is amazing. The staff was always super helpful and caring. I cut my head slightly in a tour van and when we got back to the hotel I went and asked for a bandage and the gentleman behind the desk immediately popped up to see how bad it was and then told me to sit down. He came back with a small box with so much stuff for scrapes and bruises. He then helped my wife clean it and bandage it. The breakfast is phenomenal with classics everyday and a rotating selection so it didn't get boring. We tipped the house keeper just asking for extra coffee after the first day. We came back to a fully cleaned and organized room. She even lined up all our shoes by pair and straightened up my pile of dirty laundry. We had more coffee and water after that point. We never wanted for anything here. It's not all inclusive but the prices are reasonable and the food was good. The swim up bar is great and the second swim up bar has food and they cook it right there. Super tasty when drinking in the pool all day!
Also, book the tours here! Everyone says don't book the tours at the hotel and I normally agree but we went on an elephant sanctuary tour and it was the best tour of our life with the best tour guide of all time. This resort is beautiful, well staffed, and on the beach. The employees take pride in their jobs and it shows. 100 out of 10. We want to be back there now. If you go, take one of the free bicycles down the street to Adamane Restaurant and Massage. Read my review of that place. Worth the trip!

A mid priced hotel frequented by European tourists mainly German and British fronting onto the beach. Swim up bars with a restaurant with a great Thai theme.

Fantastic hotel..our room goes out onto the pool that is shared by 8 other rooms..you don't see that many people in the pool..we get our own jacuzzi too..staff can't do enough for you,room service is very prompt.. right by the beach..we had bed and breakfast.. breakfast layout was fine.. I'd like to return.

One of the best resorts we have stayed at. All staff are fantastic, helpful, smiling and welcoming. Rooms are brilliant, clean, spacious, well presented and well maintained. Pools are good, do need a little maintenance but understandable considering the size. Free activities were great, a good way to meet others and staff undertaking are good. Free shuttles into town. Massages were very relaxing. Meals were great, breakfast buffet awesome, lunch and dinner at Vongole restaurant were delicious. Would go back again tomorrow.

We stayed there May 17-24. The resort is in a secluded area at the end of a long road making this a very private location. There are shuttles 6 days a week, sometimes twice a day that allowed us to visit the town. Visiting the town is a must because even at a luxurious place like this, it's nice to experience new stuff. They promptly switched us to a new room for air conditioning problems. Their check in and check out times are flexible based on international flight information. This is very helpful as some flights arrive early in the morning, or leave late in the afternoon. Their staff were very friendly helping us make phone calls to the local airline. The breakfast crew recognized everyone. The swimming pool is nice and great for photos. There are daily activities, such as leaf folding, towel folding, desert making, etc. The beach is wonderful.

My wife and I had our wedding and enjoyed our stay at The Haven.

For our wedding, the event staff was easy to work with throughout the planning process leading up to our big day. They made every perfect for our wedding. Amazing beach venue, and decor. The photographers took stunning pictures.

For our stay, everything at the hotel had a luxurious touch to it. Breakfast was delicious, the pool and beach areas were great to relax at, and the room was well-kept.

I highly recommend to host your wedding here. We hope to be back soon!

Beautiful resort, lovely attentive staff. We stayed in the ocean front pool villa. Lovely views over the pool and ocean. Quiet location for a relaxing holiday.

An absolute paradise of a hotel. This was an absolute dream come true place for me. All the walkways with lush green exotic plants and trees, long and big pools everywhere.

Well maintained hotel. If you look with a magnifier, you will find your flaws, like a broken LED or a small wooden part missing. But none of these matter, the always (!) friendly and helpful staff keep this hotel maintained and serviced so well, that it is definitely a five star accommodation. Rooms, areas around the hotel and even the beach are very clean. No single flaw to find here.

Everything works, WiFi pretty much everywhere around the hotel area. Good enough for YouTube, streams and video calls.

Staff will go above and beyond to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

The gym is big, well maintained and great if you like to stay fit on your holidays.

Lots of activities are offered, I did a Muay Thai training session twice. But there is also Yoga, stretching and others.

The spa offers great massages, visited them also twice.

Holiday dream come true place.

Best stay!!! We stayed for 4 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The rooms, the pool, the overall vibe is chill and relaxing. Perfect way to end our honeymoon. Plus, the staff was so kind and upgraded our stay from a poolside room to an Oceanside room for our last 2 nights as we were honeymooning! The restaurant on site was some of the best food we had during our stay in Thailand. Would 100% recommend staying here! A little bit of a drive (20 mins) from the main town of Khao Lak, which was fine for us, but if you want to go to town they offer motorbikes to use. Overall would highly recommend!

Rooms are quite nice with all you need to have a confortable stay, those bed sheets omg super confortable!

Breakfast is just amazing and the food is fresh and tasty.

For sure a very good relaxing place with a long beach just in the front of the resort.

Location is a little bit far from shops and restaurants, but there is a daily free shuttle available. Or make sure to rent a scooter. If you love to stay at a resort, it's perfect for its quite surrounding.

This is such an amazing resort. Outstanding staff!!
You will get there a big breakfast buffet with freshly egg dishes, juices, Thai food and everything that you need for a good breakfast.
The pool is huge and has 2 poolbars. We loved the massage, which was the best we had in our vacation.
They have big rooms and ours had a small balcony. Other rooms are equipped white small jacuzzis or direct access to the pool.
We visited the restaurant 4 times for dinner and every time it was absolutely perfect.
You have to try “Mango Sticky rice”.
Fitness Studio is small, but totally okay.
You have the possibility to participate in some courses, such as Thai stretching, Yoga, Pilates etc. free of charge.

The most amazing relaxing spot! Roughly 1.5hrs from the airport in Phuket. It's a little bit out of the way but that's exactly what we wanted for our holiday. Very very relaxing. The service was phenomenal. Nothing was too much or too hard and everything is always performed with a smile. Loved every single one of the staff members and looked forward to seeing them each day.
Buffet breaky is delicious, they change what you eat every day.
Definitely recommend spending a little bit extra and getting a room with pool access. This was the best part of our trip, waking up and going for a swim, and there's no opening/closing hours for the pool connected to your room, only the main one. The spa here was also amazing, we got massages every day! The staff, again, were professional and sweet and so so lovely. The resort offers fitness classes every morning, ranging from Tai Chi (this was my personal favourite) to pilates to stretching classes. The classes are designed for all fitness levels, and you only push yourself as much as you want to.
There are also 2 swim up bars in the main pool area, which are fun for the alcoholic beverage lovers like myself!
Wouldn't recommend to anyone wanting a big party vibe, but also I'm sure you could travel into town (10 mins) and find a bar if that's what you were looking for.

Absolutely awesome resort! Massive pool and great beach that's easy to access. The food and staff are also excellent.

We stayed here as part of a Tripmaster package. We treated ourselves to the one that offered us a beautiful room that had a patio with immediate access to one of the many cascading salt water pools; it felt like it was our very own. We enjoyed the exclusivity of our pool but we also enjoyed the others all around the property. One of these was over 300 meters long (that's over 3 football fields long) which had several swim-up bars and/food. From there you were within a 2 minute walk to an exclusive beach that went on for what seemed like forever. You could participate in many daily activities offered throughout the grounds. Breakfast buffet was included with every room. It offered an abundant array of local dishes, fruit, omelets, juice, and coffee bar, etc. Our package included discounted dinners, drinks, and 1-hour long massage at the spa.

We were blown away by this resort. We learned it was only 10 years old and that it didn't exist when the 2004 tsunami that devastated the region.

We look forward to treating ourselves to another visit. All the employees were nice and friendly and attentive.

What a beautiful resort! They have the nicest swimming pools I've ever seen at a resort. If you love the ocean and swimming, this is the place to stay in Khao Lak. We had a swim-up room and thoroughly enjoyed it! Everyone was so friendly, especially the activity staff who filled in as beach volleyball teammates and ping pong opponents and were responsible for the Christmas Eve "fire show," which was fantastic. Our room came with a complimentary breakfast, and the breakfasts were terrific, with one caveat: Breakfast may technically end at 10:30, but you really need to get there by 9:00 before it gets too busy, at least for us around Christmas time. This meant no staying up late, or we'd miss a good breakfast, which kept us on an early schedule for our entire stay. The dinners were nice too, but they do cost extra. They have special dinner menus on certain nights, where those nights are served buffet style - I recommend doing the buffet on those nights, saving the a-la-carte for the nights they don't have the buffet dinners. Did I mention the pool table next to the bar in the lobby area? That was a lovely touch, and we enjoyed playing 8-ball every day. Everything was perfect! A special shout-out to the activity team members: Kim, Popcorn, Boy, Dern, Nee, and Pang -- the trip wouldn't have been the same without you!

The hotel is super nice, especially the large pool area and the beach access.

There is a gym and a shuttle to the market or city every day.

The best asset are the people though. There is not one unfriendly employee I can remember. Everyone was really attentive, remembered the I can’t eat gluten and catered to my needs. They were also not too stiff but up for jokes and smalltalk.
