Rooms have been newly renovated and are very pretty & spacious. The bathrooms are pretty too but be cautious about the shower area - they often smell extremely damp. I did tell the plumbing team about it and they tried to fix it but it didn’t work. Housekeeping is really really good and they really do aim to please.

Service is amazing. They’re all so friendly and so accommodating, you won’t have any complaints in this area.

The beach is incredible. Beautiful views and comfortable sun beds.

The resort is extremely big and there’s lots to do but it’s also quite expensive to do activities.

Food is okay, nothing amazing and I think this is one thing that really needs to be improved. Even the pastries at breakfast are not great. For a JW Marriott property, I was expecting better.

There’s also A LOT of mosquitos on this property so do ensure you wear repellent often.

Even though we had a couple of issues, overall, we really enjoyed our stay here.

Excellent hotel, great service and friendly staff. The pool and the beach were just perfect for my family, we enjoyed our week so much. The breakfast was very good, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. Great with a five star experience again, perhaps especially the turn down service which puts an extra touch to the stay. Happy to come back any time!

This is the perfect place to spend relaxing holidays. The hotel has all the facilities you need, staff is super friendly. There are a lot of tourists but it never felt crowded. A lot of different nationalities. Russian tourists behaved well. The beach is just fantastic even that we had some days with red flags due to big jellyfish. One of the biggest pools in Asia where you can swim easily a 500 m round through clean water. We will definitely come again. In close proximity are cheaper beach bars and also a very nice restaurant (Pam's restaurant) that even arranges a free shuttle.

This is among the best resort in the world, beach is huge, quiet wave, less traffic. The best is a small supermarket next to it. The owners were ultra friendly and ready to offer deals whenever you are ready. I love to come back someday. Oh, don't forget to take a short hike to the Falls. Mimi, the guide from the resort is friendly, knowledgeable and speaks fluent English.

We had a wonderful stay at JW Marriott in Khao Lak. The environment is very beautiful. They have lots of exotic plants and trees, including mango trees. There are lots of activities for children and adults everyday. The staff is very polite and always make sure you have everything you need. There are several restaurants in the hotel area which are very nice. I recommend going to the buffets which they have a few nights a week. It was absolutely amazing with different kinds of meat and seafood straight from the barbeque. The breakfast was superb! They had everything from international to Asian dishes.

One of my favourite hotels in Khao Lak. We have stayed there twice last year. The food, service, and rooms are top notch. We dined at Drift buffet last Thursday and the food was absolutely delicious. Will definitely return.

I would highly recommend the bike to the temple and elephants especially if you don't plan on doing those things at another point during your trip.

The breakfast buffet is decent but does cost ฿800 per person which at the time of writing is about $23 USD.

The gimmick of getting a base level room and being able to jump right into the big pool is fun and still worth the money in my opinion.

I really liked that there were sections of the pool and beach that are meant to be adult only. So while it is a family friendly resort, it was still a good experience for adults who didn't bring children.

We had really good wifi at the lounge chairs by the beach.

Very luxurious, great staff to help with any questions and activities everyday! Best breakfast ever included with unlimited options! Free 1 hour bike rides, kayak and canoes. Cheaper restaurants just down the beach if saving $$

Stayed 4 nights with my big group of family including my 2year old son and 4month old baby.

The best part of the resort is the service, they’re well trained and attentive.

The rooms are spacious and clean. They converted the sofa into a bed which works better for me than an extra bed cause it has sides which stops my baby from rolling off and I can co-sleep.
I was next to the restaurant - Sala with a pool access room near the slide.

The hotel was at full capacity and there was a wedding but it wasn’t too crowded because the resort is very big.

Breakfast selection and taste was good but it’s the same thing everyday.
We did a half board and would recommend you to reserve a spot for dinner in advance.
We did a few outdoor dinners (BBQ at Lawn and Thai restaurant sitting outside) but it was too hot for the kids and they were very fussy.
Also had the BBQ dinner at Olive and although I sat inside I got bit many times by mosquitoes, definitely bring repellent with you everywhere.

The beach is nice (visited in mid February) and they provide a lot of beach equipment like paddle boards, kayaks and even sand toys for the kids.

There are many adult activities available like table tennis, pool table, cycling and classes like muay thai, Pilates, plus fire show, etc. some you should book a day in advance.

The kids club room isn’t so suitable for my 2yo, it’s better for kids 4yo and above and teens. There’s a small outdoor area with a small slide and house, a big ball pit inside and some PlayStation too.
There’s a lot of activities for kids like paining, bead art, magician workshop, pizza making etc but definitely need to book a day in advance.
There’s a cube shaped outdoor playground next to the slide pool but it looks very intimidating and definitely not for my 2yo.

Overall it was a nice stay but I might only consider returning when my kids are 4yo or older.

Amazing experience with a 10 months old baby!
We stayed for 4 nights and the main take away is this-
If you're coming with a baby stroller - take ONLY a ground floor room, the hotel is not accessible and there's allot of stairs, and getting from the porch straight into the pool is priceless.

Rooms are great, comfortable and spacious, staff is super friendly and helpful all around, you have more then a few restaurants on the beach a minute walk from the hotel so you don't have to eat at the hotel's overpriced variety of restaurants (though the food is great).
They have plenty of activities all day long and the place is huge so it never feels crowded, except maybe for breakfast (which is veryyyy good) at the main hall- but there are many quieter arras to sit at.
Kids club is great as well!
There's a money exchange and a couple of supermarkets just at the entrance of the hotel, and the main street is 10-15 minute away by taxi (600 baht back and forth) if you need a 7/11 or some light shopping.
So yes, if you're considering this place with a baby or with kids - go for it!

I absolutely loved every moment staying here!

Somethings to note:
- ride from the the airport in Phuket is about an hour
- plenty of excellent restaurants on site to choose from
- the hotel grounds are meticulously taken care of and and the layout feels like you’re walking around a beautiful tropical botanical garden
- the pool layout is truly unique and the journey of walking the long pool routes is very relaxing
- rooms are spacious and the decor is beautiful
- every staff member we interacted with was kind and helpful
- easy access to both the pool and the beach

The only thing I would suggest is they change the soap brand. It didn’t feel great or leave your skin feeling good and the smell wasn’t the best.

Went there for our honeymoon recently and the only regrettable point is that our stay was too short! We would like to thank the resort for the lovely experience.

The resort is huge, beautiful and well maintained. There are so lots of activities / facilities available for both adults and children. Even though the resort is kid-friendly, the environment was still relatively peaceful - there are designated adult only areas.

JW Mariott Khao Lak is an impressive beach front property with pristine white sand. It’s very suitable for families with children and has lots of pools for fun time. This resort also has a really long 2.4km pools snaking along the rooms. It’s worthwhile to book rooms on the ground floor where you can jump right into the pool from your balcony. There are also 11 restaurants and bars to eat from. Italian, Japanese, Mediterranean, Thai to name a few. The resort is so big that you never feel the crowd even during peak season with full occupancy. On certain nights, it’s wonderful to dine Al fresco at the Infinity Lawn, watching the beautiful sunset. The resort is about 10mins to the Bang Niang market and Khoa Lak center which the hotel shuttle is 100 baht per person per way. Otherwise you can ride the local taxi for 300 baht each way. Our family had a wonderful time here and would be back.

This place is magical. The property is beautiful, the food is lovely. However, the absolutely amazing staff is the star of this hotel. Everyone from housekeeping to reception is lovely, helpful and just radiates fun and welcoming energy.

I can’t wait to be back!

The JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa is the one and only resort that we'd fly to the other side of the world to experience again and again. As a Titanium family, we've traveled far and wide and the JW ranks #1 in our book. Where to start?

The resort grounds were lush and beautiful and there wasn't one leaf out of place. The resort buildings, interior design of the lobby and other spaces amplified modern Thai architecture to its finest.

The service was absolutely impeccable from all levels of the JW team, especially the GM ABHI and Wissuta for welcoming and treating us like valued guests. Thank you for your gracious hospitality and guest service. You and your team exemplify the Marriott brand.

The Duplex Bi-Level Suite was luxurious yet felt like our home away from home from beginning to end- the views from the balcony overlooking the pool and resort grounds were magical. We're still dreaming about the sumptuous bed and the deep soaking tub. The Titanium welcome amenity of fresh fruit and juice, cookies, macaroons, and other delicious goodies was such a lovely touch.

The breakfast buffet was out of this world and is an event all to itself with the freshest ingredients, highest quality, and most incredible display of culinary choices we've ever experienced anywhere. The views overlooking the palm trees and white sandy beach is still etched in our memories.

We enjoyed long, relaxing swims in the 2.5km swimming pool everyday and our son had a blast in the wave pool, on the slides, and in the aqua play zone, fountain trampoline. He also loved hanging out in the Kids Club, making some good friends.

And let's not forget about the location! The resort sits right on a clean and long beach with the most gorgeous crystal clear water and swaying palm trees. We enjoyed taking the complimentary kayaks out a few times. It's truly paradise beyond imagination.

The JW Marriott Khao Lak captivated our hearts and we can't hardly wait for our return once more this coming January 2024 for a long extended stay. Thank you for the memories you helped us make and for the ones yet to come. See you soon!

Updating my review after my recent visit. This time was much better than last. This again has taken first place as my favorite beach resort in Thailand. Everything here is just wonderful.

Location is amazing. Food is great for a resort, better than most similar. Grounds and facilities are excellent. Beach is excellent. Staff is excellent. Local food and massage next door is excellent.

It’s really a perfect beach resort.

The only downside is some of the older rooms still reek of mold/mildew. Probably will not bother some people, but if you are sensitive to smells it may bother you.

Our last visit we were unable to move rooms and ended up stuck in an old smelly room, which was not ideal. This visit we were also assigned an old room, however we were promptly switched to a newer room upon request which was much better and made all the difference.

Overall highly recommend and will certainly return.

Update: Dec 20, 2023.

The bicycle lane in the front of the hotel is partly finished, a very nice paved trail.

But if you are more adventurous, there are some pretty nice trails towards the left of the hotel looking from the beach, plenty of wildlife, birds, squirrels, lizards, etc.

Probably one of the best stay we had in Khao Lak.

I imagined the facilities are a little old, but the room, beds, pillows, comforter, activities, swimming pools and services are excellent. You could say it has aged like fine wine.

The hotel is huge, probably one of the largest swimming pool in Thailand. We stayed in a family lagoon with pool access, the room is pretty big, a king size bed, with 2 sofa beds. Our kids loved it, open the sliding door and they can jump into the pool.

All of activities are free of charge. The mountain bikes are TREK, exercise machine are TechoGyms which are relatively new. However, the pool tables, are hockey have not aged well.

Everything is almost perfect, except that there is no curtain box so light will come into the room in the morning.

Since the hotel is very big with hundreds of rooms. Not sure if the facilities will be loaded during the peak of high season.

Breakfast buffet is pretty big and has lots of varieties. If it didn't come with your hotel package, it's 800.00.Baht (about $20.00). You don't want to miss this.

Definitely you won't be disappointed 👍

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Resort is impeccable and oozes opulence.

Staff were amazing and highly helpful, however want to highlight Jame from the gym and the room cleaner who were amazing. Even had the time to fold my partners clothes. Wish we had thanked her personally.
