Interesting yet sad display commemorating the 2004 Tsunami that devastated Khao Lak.
Worth a visit while you're visiting this area.
300฿ entrance fee for foreigners. Free for locals. The fee goes towards maintaining this non-profit museum.

Educational and well-organized

My heart goes out to the victims of this tragic event. Love that the entrance fee is given as charity for local kids. Took my kids around and shared some learnings with them too. Nice boat, can be seen from outside the museum.

A second of the 2 memorials along the coast of Phang-Nga district where most of the devastation occurred and where the majority of people perished in the Tsunami in Thailand. This is the spot where a police patrol boat that was assigned to watch over members of the Royal family was washed over 2 kilometres inland. Along with the patrol boat there is a small museum, 2 outdoor memorials a covered area with many photos taken during and after the Tsunami. These memorials had great significance for both my wife and niece as they had friends who perished and others who survived but lost everything. Please don’t be swayed by some of the negative comments about lack of maintenance this is really a place to reflect on a terrible tragedy and loss of life also to show an example of mother nature’s awesome power.

A great place to learn about the Tsunami of 2007. This is the small vessel washed up to about 3km from the ocean front as it was keeping guard of the Princess's son who was enjoying water sports on the ocean.

Should visit the shop opposite the museum. He is a survival of tsunami and now shows his photos during tsunami. Support him to buy his handmade souvenirs

Such an honour to meet one of the survivors and hear his story.
Please take the time to go around the area, chat to people and you will discovery a lot more than the photos!

Sombering tour with confronting information about the 2004 tsunami
The yellow paint at the top of the memorial was the height of the wave (10 metres) 2 kilometres in from the beach

You need to be prepared to come away feeling upset after visiting, but it's a real eye opener and a valuable reminder of what happened and a memorial to the tragic loss of life caused by this disaster.

We’ve only visited the free tourist information, but there is also a general tsunami museum that you can visit. I believe everyone has seen a lot about the tsunami of 2004, but the pictures you see at the information are very, very raw and sad. The stories that you can read are heartbreaking. But it was worth a visit to learn a little bit more about it

Well worth a visit. The information was insightful and emotive at the same time. Staff were very friendly and there was a small shop for drinks and ice creams to refresh.

Very moving place to visit. Not for the squeamish with very graphic photos but meeting someone who had experienced the Tsunami, was injured but lost everything made you appreciate so much more what we have now.

A lot of information but really interesting. My partner and I spent the afternoon there a few weeks ago. We stayed to watch the video from start to finish up starts. I cart really say it was a great afternoon because of what happened, but I would stay pop in find out what happened
