Jan 2020. Took an ordinary bus to Bangkok at 16:40, 625 Bt. It is big and good. Claims to be opened 8:30-16:00 and sells tickets ONLY to Bangkok. VIP bus is at 17:30, 964 Bt, almost same price as for 2 more buses from "Meeting Point" near BN Market.

This small bus station is located directly across from the Fresh market. The times of operation are a bit sketchy so i would make my way over there a day in advance and check out the bus schedules which are posted there.
There is a small sitting area you can get all the information you need regarding bus transport and where is the most convenient place for you to go. NOTE: There are a number of locations ( like directly in front of 711 By the Bang Niang Market) where buses stop to pick up passengers traveling north or southbound almost hourly. So it is a good idea to get your bus service needs sorted a bit in advance to ensure you get a bus that meets your destination, price and comfort requirements.
The bus station is a good source to get this all confirmed prior to departure.

I couldn't buy a ticket because their computers supposedly went down (several times). Please bring some candies or xanax for the lady at the counter. She is constantly mean and looks very frustrated

Das Thema Busfahren in Thailand war schon eine Erfahrung wert, muss ich schon sagen.
Ganz anders als in Deutschland.
Jeder der Bus fahren will, sollte sich davor genauestens Informieren. Im Internet oder eben an der Busstation oder noch besser bei denn Menschen vor Ort.
Es gibt verschieden farbige Buslinien.
Teilweise klimatisiert oder eben auch nicht.
Dad Busreisen ist in Thailand sehr preiswert.

Better go to the "meeting point tourist information" near the signal for complet bus information, bookings joint tickets etc, the owner there is very friendly I came here on Saturday and it was closed

Not that friendly even rude…and language barrier is definitely not the reason at all…

Нет тут никакой автостанции, ловите автобус стоя на трассе. Хотя мне все же интересно где конечная остановка у минивенов до Као Лак? Явно не здесь
