Black Ginger | Thai Restaurant | The Slate, Phuket

Black Ginger is probably the most aesthetically pleasing restaurant I've ever been to in my life, it's so beautiful. But the experience is not just a feast for your eyes it is also a lavish dining experience. The food was divine and was served all together for a large table of 8. I would like to personally thank our server Tan for her attention to detail. She went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant experience for us, she gave us suggestions for dishes and even brought warm water to the table, with lemon and honey to my friend who had an ongoing cough without even being asked to do so. Finally the chef came out to ask us about our dining experience and overall I must say it is one of the best I have had in my life. Considering the status of this restaurant the food is very reasonably priced and very high value for money. I wish I could visit this place many times over as it was definitely a highlight on our vacation.

An absolutely astounding experience! From the moment we stepped onto the raft, to the time we (reluctantly) left, everything was incredible! Some of the best Thai food I have ever had!

Great food, wine, service and atmosphere!! We had one of the dégustation menus which was perfect. All courses were a small portion of 3-5 different Thai dishes so got to sample of lot of different food - which was all beautifully prepared and presented.

The atmosphere was great. The ride across the lagoon with the ferryman made us all start humming Bryan Ferry. And don’t worry - very stable and safe with heels / long dresses…

The wine list is also quite good.

This was my second time dining at the restaurant and after 5 years it was again a wonderful experience. The food is delicious and well presented, Piak is such an amazing chef! The staff is super friendly and welcoming. The location is fantastic and you can reach with a little manual raft that creates a unique atmosphere. Thanks 🙏 Krop Kun krup

I had a fantastic experience at Black Ginger! The atmosphere was delightful, and the service was impeccable. I opted for the vegetarian chef's special, and while most of the dishes were delicious, there were a few, like the salad, that didn't quite suit my taste. In hindsight, I might have preferred to order a single entree. Nonetheless, Black Ginger is a wonderful restaurant, and I would definitely return on my next visit to Thailand.

My wife, daughter and I had the chef’s tasting menu. What an experience sublime food with excellent service. Restaurant itself is magnificent. An experience you’ll never forget 10/10

The best foods and vibes come with the great price. For those who are thinking of Thailand as a place to chill for cheap, then I wouldn't recommend it, but those who are willing to pay up for such a memorable experience, this is the place that will never be forgotten.

What an absolutely fabulous idea of getting to the restaurant only to be met by a raft to take you across the water to the restaurant. This was a lovely treat for us by our daughter Jessika and her friend Sabrina. This is such a special place and the atmosphere is out of this world. Really good ambience, great food and wonderful service. I couldn't fault this place in anyway.

Absolutely amazing experience. The ambience, the food presentation and most importantly the taste.. all on point. You will read many reviews critiquing the food taste but believe me, just go. As good as the Slate is , this is a jewel in its crown. Worth the hype.

This is a very nice Thai restaurant in Phuket!! I love all of the dishes here with the set menu!!!

Oh they also do happy hour drinks 50% off before 6:30pm!!

I would recommend you to come before 5:30pm (also my fd recommended me to do so) so that you could see the restaurant’s view before it goes dark!! It’s totally different!!

Where do i begin? The whole experience was amazing. We started with getting picked up by the golf cart. When we got there, the entrance looked good! From there, we were in for a surprise by how big the place is. We rode a platform that moved across a small body of water. In terms of experience, that's truly one of a kind.

Let's talk food. We tried the Black Ginger Experience and Black Ginger Indulgence so we get to try both sets. All tasted great! My favorite is the Gaeng Pou!

No words or photos can fully capture the magic of dining in this little pocket dimension tucked away deep inside The Slate Resort in Phuket. Dining here was ethereal - the food was just flavor bomb after flavor bomb - and the chef herself personally greeted the diners towards the end of our meal. Definitely coming back.

Favorites include the wild mushroom salad (best salad I've ever had, anywhere); the coconut ice cream; and the spring rolls - but everything was excellent.

An unforgettable experience at Black Ginger, a restaurant under the Michelin Guide. Upon arriving at the entrance of the restaurant, you will be greeted by a hostess and a boatman who will take you to the restaurant by a floating platform. Everything was so magical and mystic - just like being transported to another realm.

The main hall was beautiful! We had Chef Piak’s tasting menu; no regrets! From the appetisers to the desserts, all were on point. I’d recommend first timers to go for the tasting menu if ure unsure what to order. Chef Piak also takes the effort to greet every diner at their table. Great gesture there. Overall, an exceptional restaurant. I’ll let the photos do the talking..

Such a beautiful restaurant! The barge ride across to the restaurant was so unique as well! I recommend this place for a special occasion or if you’re trying to impress someone.

Fabulous evening here a couple of days ago for my wife's birthday celebration. The food and ambience were truly special from the moment of arrival until we left. Relatively expensive in relation to other Thai venues but the quality of the experience was such that we felt it was well worth it.

Black Ginger is a truly unique (and affordable) dining experience. Accessible only by raft, it almost has the feel of an Indiana Jones film.
Menu was delicious and fairly priced for a couple. Highly recommend this restaurant during your visit to Phuket (make sure you book).

Might be hard to find. Google sent me down the wrong street; search for The Slate. Parking available with The Slate property, and check with the staff on getting to Black Ginger.

Delicious food in a fairytale setting - the tone is set as you cross the lake by boat. Attentive service to match with the rest. I had their Indulgence tasting menu and cannot recommend enough - the crab curry will blow your mind.

We had an amazing and authentic dinner. Taste is authentic and we really liked the boat drive to the restaurant.

Wine list isn’t crazy but sufficient. However, you should try the great drinks anyway.
