The Bangkok Bank is very excellent the aprouch the client friendly

Went in to try to open non O-A retirement account for my husband at this branch. In general, the branch was not busy at all. Only looking like taking forever in all especially account openings counter. I saw two foreigners sitting there at one of the two counters very long. One young smart officer came to inquire what we would like to be served. I explained & he helped collecting the documents required we may have for this matter. He wanted to help us prepare before getting there. Not that long, he came back along with one strict looking woman, guess she was the Manager but no.

She: You cannot open the account, your husband does not have a retirement visa…

Us: ??? (What I was holding were the visa printed out, the certificate of residence proof in Thailand, issued by Thai immigration, still valid til 28 January)

She: we need the visa stamped on the passport as non O A proving long term stay. Your husband had no visa yet. He needs at least the longterm rental contract like 30 years land or property contracts to submit for opening account here. We cannot do that..

US:???? Geez no way. This is 2024, no issued visa will be stamped on the passport excerpt the entry stamp. Did you even read that paper. Other banks & thai immigration advised me that we needed only these documents.

She: I don’t know about others but at BBL we have our own rules so we need that rental contract since your husband do not have the visa yet.

Us: ????
Then that woman did not care anymore, acted like too busy while there were 8 customers in the entire hall with five officers there.
The young one apologized and said he understood us but our manager was not in…he doesn’t know what to do.
Worst experience for someone who loves Phuket & wanted to bring the money in for the bank that is counted for one of the best service. เพื่อนคู่คิดมิตรคู่บ้าน

We ended up driving to KBank Rassada Road.
Oh totally different, the officers even called the superior or related government center in front of us. Asked if we & documents were qualified. Yes. We were there for 1.30 hrs, attended right away even it was almost closed around 2.45 pm. Superb, KBank did all the work for us. So now we will move everything from the unattended bank to KBank.

Thanks for opening our eyes. Worst experience ever with you BBL… you may not care about foreigners’ account but you need to re educate your people & improve the mentality & attitude in order to be more considerate & polite, not rude or scolding at customers.

I was disappointed because I told my husband that your bank was great and long existing in
the industry. Now I have a new negative image in my mind. Do not think my review would change anything or you would be able to reach out to fix. No matter what you do, your bank will still be growing and this inefficient worker will be still there.

A few years ago I transferred money from my foreign currency account to my baht account and they gave me the sight bill rather than the TT rate, .10 less. Be very careful at this branch.

Worse experience at any Bangkok Bank Branch I've had. The staff wasn't friendly on my visit in September. I completed paperwork to update all my account information. I haven't seen the update online so called the branch today. They claim to not have any paperwork from me on the date I was there. We flew specifically to Phuket to complete this task. What a waste of time and money. Do not waste your time with this branch pick another location for any business transactions. Very disappointed.

Non friendly staff and slow service. Such a big bank but only 2 staff at the main counter at 9am.
