Sak Yant Chiang Mai | Real Bamboo Tattoo

The staff was very nice and was able to guide me through the whole experience. I do wish they went through the deeper meaning behind the mantras i got tattooed on my skin beyond the surface explanation, but its also my own fault for not asking. I was fired up about the experience and forgot to ask. I did the in house experiance because the temple experience was booked up, so if you want a temple experience, make sure to book in advance. The studio was very clean. This is my first ever tattoo, and I'm completely obsessed with it. It healed in a week.

Chiang Mai Sak Yang is the place to go in Chiang Mai if you’d like a traditional Thai Sak Yant. They were helpful, informative and caring. I chose the temple visit Sak Yant, we went to the temple, and the monk was very professional, clean, and informative. This was my first Sak yant performed solely by a monk, and it’s very nice, precise, and clean looking. If you’re nervous there’s no reason to be! I will visit again the next time I’m in Chiang Mai. Great work!

Having just left this shop, I can only highly recommend Sak Yant Chiang Mai. It was a beautiful experience, you have a guide who will translate for you and show you how to provide the offerings to the Ajarn (or Monk) and walk you through the blessings. They will also sit with you through the beginning of the tattoo and also periodically check in on you, as well as take pictures and videos for you. The Ajarn here are incredibly skilled and masterful - I will absolutely return one day

My friend and I got our Sak yants together at Sak Yant chiang mai. I got a centipede with ruesi blessings and she got the 8 directions and 9 peaks.

Our experience with the staff was wonderful. The English speaking guides were kind, funny, helpful, and knowledgeable. Our Ajarn was great as well and also worked very quickly.

The tattoo was more painful than a machine for the two of us, but it was well worth it and was over quickly. The staff was knowledgeable about aftercare and offered us cookies and tea afterwards. We got to speak with some other people who got their Sak yants and two who were considering it.

The ajarn also did a special blessing for my friend who is visually impaired.

Overall it was an incredible experience and a memory I will cherish. The tattoo is great as well - not the most artist tattoo in the world but one full of meaning for me, which is what matters.

Ever since I learned about Sak Yant tattoos, as a teenager, through a documentary about tattoo culture all over the world, I've always wanted a Sak Yant tattoo. I'm thrilled that I finally had the opportunity to get a Sak Yant tattoo, the Gao Yord (9 peaks). The entire session took less than 3 hours (~30 mins to the temple due to traffic, 1 hour for the tattoo, ~3-5 mins for the blessing, ~30 mins to get back to the shop). It was quite a memorable and spiritual experience to get tattooed in a temple while the monk was chanting and the locals came to visit and chant with the monk. There were some parts of the tattoo session that were more painful than others, but the pain only lasted ~10 seconds a time before the Ajarn (master) moved onto the next script. Sitting through the pain became a very meditative experience; I breathed out the pain and inhaled between every pause. I also learned that the spine and the left side of my body are more sensitive to pain, and had to fight the urge to flinch whenever the pain became more intense. One of the temple dogs decided to keep me company during and after I got tattooed; she was the sweetest and quietest Chihuahua I've ever met. I didn't hear her bark once while I was there. After the tattoo was complete, I bowed to the monk 3 times (wai) and provided the offering, prior to getting the tattoo blessed. Part of the blessing includes getting a piece of gold flake placed on the tattoo. After the tattoo and blessing were complete, the driver took me back to the studio for a cup of tea + snack, and for the shop to discuss tattoo aftercare and Sak Yant rules (1. Do not kill, 2. Do not steal, 3. Do not lie, 4. Do not be unfaithful to spouse, 5. Do not get intoxicated, 6. Do not speak ill of any mother). If you're looking to get a Sak Yant, I highly recommend going to Sak Yant Chiang Mai! I absolutely enjoyed my experience and love that I get to carry this memory with me forever.

The experience is what you make. What you bring with you is what you will experience. This experience from pick up to drop off was beyond expectations. Our guide was friendly, personable, kind
and thoughtful. The Monk was very much the same, and he made us feel comfortable with the Tattoo process, checking often to ensure we were ok. The tattoo experience and resulting tattoos were superb. Each tattoo, for my daughter and I,
fit our purpose and spiritual aspirations perfectly. The entire ritual was magical and meaningful. We highly recommend this experience.

I just had my first Sak Yant (my first tattoo). The staff here are very friendly, patient and understanding. They spoke very good English to explain the process to me and put me at ease.

They also helped me choose a location and design suited for me (and my pale skin). The tattoo was done quickly, professionally and safely.

Absolutely delighted with our experience with getting our sak yant at this samnak. My daughter had her sights set on a sak yant while in Thailand. We researched and determined Chiang Mai was the best place and this samnak the best option. We had not made an appointment and they were all booked but she went to the studio early and they told her to come back after closing hours.

We arrived and the friendly staff worked with her on choosing her design. When in the samnak, Arjan Sam was kind, open, friendly, and had a peaceful energy. She gave her offering (which included the fee) and he did her 5 lines really fast. So fast that I decided to get myself a small sak yant. After chatting with Arjan Sam about my mindset and locations, we settled on inner wrist and I let Arjan Sam have discretion to decide what he thought I should have. He gave me a tiger heart for strength and protection. I feel so blessed and grateful for this gift. (FYI, it does hurt in a stinging way (like bees) but was much faster than a trad tattoo.)

Overall, the experience was perfect from start to finish and I would not hesitate to recommend them for anyone seeking to carry a blessing on their body.

Absolutely satisfied with my experience. I wanted sacred tattoos done by a master and this was the case. The professor is a man of high intensity, we feel it. Kindness and competence are there, with this peaceful man endowed with a heart like one rarely meets. You enter an unknown world and you come out changed. How good that feels! What a great sak Yant tattoo experience! From steps A to Z, they do their best to eliminate any guesswork and make your experience one that's as easy as possible!

I love that their website has a good FAQ, which includes their pricing. They also have a webzine with many designs, though I think they have more designs at the studio.

I had my sak Yant done at the studio. The ajarn (master) I had used gloves and sanitized the needle. They staff walks you through entering and greeting the ajarn and making an offering (I thought I had to bring my own so I did, but they provide one for you!). They ask for the intention and communicate that to the ajarn so that it's weaved into the blessing of the tattoo. I came alone and the staff was kind enough to take photos and videos for me so I could focus on receiving the tattoo.

It would've been nice if I could interact with the ajarn. Unfortunately, I don't speak Thai so it felt transactional. I don't think all the intentions I wanted were communicated to the ajarn, but that's ok. I did my own intention prayers the same time as the ajarn.

The staff is friendly and speaks English. In the end, they provide tea and a cookie. They also explain the healing process and apply some cream.

All in all, it was over in an hour. There is pain, just a little different from a machine as the inknis poked in. The design I wanted was beautiful and covered in a gold sheet similar to ones used to place on statues at a temple. I would do it again, the next time I'd consider a temple visit! I'm grateful for this memorable moment made in Chiang Mai.

I received my tattoo yesterday. This was a magical experience I will cherish forever. The staff was helpful and kind. The temple was gorgeous. If you are Buddhist or a tattoo lover this is a must try.

Very very very impressed with the overall service, friendliness and professionalism I experienced from Sak Yant today. From start to finish the entire process was easy and convenient. The online booking system works flawlessly, luckily I was able to book an appointment just a few days before arriving in Chiang Mai. Upon arriving at the shop I was greeted by two staff members who helped me feel the welcomed and went above and beyond to make sure I the customer is happy. Ajarn Tom tattooed me and he was very experienced and had a warm and inviting aura, he saw the existing yant I have on my back and tailor-made two designs for that work well with what I already have. I have been getting sak yant in Thailand for 15 years now and whilst I do love my temple, I must say the sak yant industry has grown a lot in that time. Sak Yant Chiang Mai has done a fantastic job of providing the client with all the necessary information in regards to the different yantras and also does well to explain the rituals and processes in a friendly and professional manner. This was my first yant in Chiang Mai but let me tell you I am already looking forward to getting my next one. I left the shop feeling balanced and rejuvenated, I can’t recommend this place enough. Overall it was a fantastic experience and if you’re serious about Sak Yant and you’re in Chiang Mai then Sak Yant Chiang Mai is definitely the place to go.
