I trust my Thai better half and her best gal pal knows where to source the freshest produce and meats, and I must admit, this is it, the sheer variety had me gob smacked, from live frogs and fish to the various cuts of pork, duck, beef, and seafood. It sure made everyone at the mukratha we had later that evening very very happy and content.

Fab local market about a mile outside the old city walls. Not particularly aimed at tourists which is nice because the food is much more varied and interesting. Mostly fresh food stalls to take home to cook later but a good selection of ready-to-eat food as well. Had the most delicious skewers for 10-15baht each and a super yummy sticky rice custard parcel for 7baht. Definitely recommend a visit, if only to smell all the delicious scents!

Great market with plenty of options to choose from.
It’s more on the local side which gives you access to more exotic and really local food.
It’s reasonably priced and you definitely won’t leave empty-handed.
If you’re into cooking, you should look out for speciality products.
I had the chance to get some ants eggs as it was season for it.
Definitely worth a visit.

Worth coming. Cheap and good food and snack to buy. It's clean and not too big to finish walking.

This is one of my favorite markets in Chiang Mai. There are many different types of fresh vegetables/fruits, cooked food, snack that you can buy.

I especially love the salad bar. There are at least 60 different types of vegetables, fruits, beans, nuts and seeds to choose from! It costs only 15 baht per 100 grams. After trying to communicate with the cashier with google translate, I think the stall opens at 2pm.

Tons of food options. Great place to go to stock up on groceries, fruits, and other ready-to-eat items. Also has a building across from it with sit-down restaurants. Can grab a fresh smoothie at the front before you roam.

Great prices, great selection all around.

Fresh veggies. I repeat fresh veggies. The amount available blows away any USA grocery stores out of the water. Whole foods aint nothing in comparison. Low price high quality. The snack food is also very good. I enjoyed my short visit there.

One of the best local market in Chiangmai. A one stop station for all your culinary essentials. You can pretty much get all the ingredients that you will need to whip up a feast fit for the royal. The fruits and vegetables are very fresh too. The prices are definitely much cheaper. Unlike other day markets I have been to, this one is very clean and the hawkers display their produce in neat rows. No repulsive odour or any unpleasantness.

One of my favorite Thai market in Chiangmai city center. Very clean, good value. Like the great fruit stalls, the variety of fried spring rolls and Thai desserts; so many choices in pretty bite sizes.

It is a market where local people in Chiang Mai deal in food and miscellaneous goods necessary for their daily lives. This is one of the best places to visit in Chiang Mai for those who want to feel the real Thailand and the real Chiang Mai life.

To get here, if you do not have a rental car, it is better to head there by Grab.

The goods they sell include meat and vegetables, but also fresh fruits and sweets unique to Chiang Mai. There are also clothes and other items for sale around the area. If you are not particular about clothes and underwear, you may be able to travel light by buying them at these markets and using disposable ones.

Overall, if you love Chiang Mai and want to visit many times, this place is worth visiting at least once.

Loved this market. All the stalls are clean, organized, and beautifully presented. The prices were fair as well. We got curries for 30b each, a whole bag of veggies for <100b, and a watermelon smoothie for 20b (which is usually 30-35b).

A great local market for fresh food, fruit and vegetables, as well as lots of hot foods to snack on. Also a great eating area where you can get a wide variety of food to sit down and eat.
A busy market, but not too overcrowded. One of the many markets where the locals go to .shop

I love this market! So many great characters working here and such a diverse range of foods to be eaten. I tried pig brains for the first time here they were actually really delicious. It comes as a paste in a banana leaf and you can buy some sticky rice next to the stall to eat it with. Plenty of dessert vendors and take away meals to be had here! #BeatTheGrind

We toured this market as part of a cooking class and the vegetable and fruit selection was gorgeous and huge.

I wouldn't eat the fish, as there are lots of flies around.

But the real gem was the "street" food stalls there. I went back again because the freshly fried snacks were all so delicious.

This is the best open air market that I've seen in Thailand. It is very clean!! It really is a credit to them that they keep it so clean. The meat is in an area that has fly screens & the produce is kept on ice. It is also big and has great variety. There is amazing pre prepared meals that are cheap! The same meals you buy in many Thai restaurants but cheaper. The fruit & vegetables are good quality. I will go back. 5 stars!

Tanin Market - like to get all my shopping there - For Fresh Vegetables, Fruits, Spice, Meats and Whatever... Would cost a Fortune in Canada to get the Fruit alone...Such good prices for everything and so many snack and food places to choose from - yummy. Enjoy - Len

This market is simply the best day market in the whole of Chiangmai. You could get pretty much everything you need to whip up Thai curries and whatnots. There's a skilful cobbler and watchman at the market who could fix almost any issue. For first timers, I recommend that you try the salad bar (30b/100g) and Thai tea stall at the front to the market. You won't regret it!

Voted best local market in Chiang Mai by Khun Sabai Magazine in 2015 & 2017. This market surpasses all expectations. Opens at 6am and closes at 6pm. The stalls here constantly churns out food and produce to keep their customers happy and coming back for more. Try out the salad bar, Thai tea and the fried chicken stall here. The quality is amazing and the price, cheap.
