Monarchia Restaurant

This is not a gourmet restaurant, but the dishes were prepared perfectly. The food was ready in moments, and the service was friendly. The place is truly beautiful and tastefully decorated, evoking a genuine atmosphere from the era of the Monarchy. I can only recommend it, especially if you're looking to enjoy Hungarian cuisine. Additionally, it offers excellent value for money.

Authentic Slovakian-Austro-Hungarian dishes, traditional taste. Restaurant with fair prices, good atmosphere inside and outside. They let us park our car in the courtyard. The best place for dinner in town.

Absolutely amazing place. We've been here twice and both visits were stunning! Food was delicious, we had duck with a cabbage and potato pancake "lokše", also potato dumplings filled by bacon and smoked meat with cabbage aside, then Slovakian national dish called "Halušky" with crispy bacon and also sweet potato gnocchi/dumplings "Šulance" with poppy seeds. All of the meals were really good! Also stuff is very nice, quick and polite. Price is accurate, even cheaper than in other restaurants! Worthy to visit.

5* because they play tasteful music (no f- radio). 5* because the meal is great! 5* because the premises are stylish and cozy. 5* because the service is super friendly! The very best place to have a dinner in Banska Stiavnica. And again... 5* because they don't play radio here!

It was packed there over the lunch time of course. So we had to wait 1h for main meal however soup arrived soon. They served Slovak traditional meals as well. Food was very tasty and we received good service.

Nice service, great food and pretty surroundings. But I say there were quite high prices.

Very nice - good Slovak menu, pork medallions very good with a really nice sauce. Hot chocolate was hot chocolate (not from a packet) :-) great service. Main course took some time but was worth the wait. Good value.

Despite the ranking of 'just' 4.2/5, we decided to spend our dinner here.
What a... right decision it was!
What we got: delicious pierogi, both savoury and sweet, grilled cheese, good wine and glasses of water on top. The restaurant has a unique, cosy style and the staff is very polite.
Very much recommend if you want a taste of Slovak hospitality.

Some of the best food and prices we found in Slovakia. Our waitress was very attentive and nice even with a language barrier.

Very nice and pleasant simple restaurant. Menu converges to a "home made" meals, not very wide but meals are good and quality . Slightly slow staff, but still acceptable. Very good prices. I do recommend it is the main restaurant in Banská Štiavnica.
UPDATE 2022: Still very good. Calm environment, good "bryndzové halušky", good beer.

Very friendly staff serving up tasty traditional Slovak food! If you have a big appetite, I recommend getting an appetizer as the portions are medium sized

Delicious Slovak food. Nice staff and seating outdoors. Food was prepared quickly enough and everything was very tasty, including lemonades. Big selection and many options for vegetarians.

Very nice restaurant with a very friendly staff. Food is perfect if you're looking for traditional Slovak food. They have Urpiner on tap which is my favourite Slovak beer. Prices have a glood value-price ratio.

Delicious Slovak food, big portions, lovely local beer and kofola on draft, excellent value for money, friendly staff, beautiful yard with lovely views away from the crowd but still in the historical centre. I'll be back 😊

Good food from all over ex Austrian-Hungarian Empire. The restaurant is in the ancient house. Personnel is kind. Credit card is accepted.
