This is where the first revelation came on our beloved Holy Prophet peace be upon him.

Too many people visit this place, it is very hard to get in the cave. In my experience, the best time to visit is a little before fajar, you can pray fajar on the mountain and you get both night and day views of the city.

If you are going there, try to sit there and think about the purpose, our beloved Prophet had in mind when he used to visit this place.

Climb is relatively easy for someone with moderate-fitness level. Uneven steps and can be quite slippery due to fine sand. There are workers at different levels of the hill to sweep the sand. Breathtaking view at the top!

This was a lovely day. I really wanted to visit cave Hira and it left me in awe how the Prophet saws had so much strength and energy to climb this mountain to reach the entrance and how he must felt when the revelation came. The hike in total took us around 1:45 but it was worth it. It is steep so be rested before the climb. Stairs for the most of the part are made for the people to go up, however, the officials said they will make a new road for the cars and get rid of the garbage at the top which were dumped by people who don't care for the environment! The museum and the gift shop are also worth visiting. There is a lovely and emotional presentation about the revelation in the revelation exhibition centre. The tickets cost 20aed.

Its a great historic place to visit and to go through the same experience as our beloved prophet used to go there for worship. Climbing to the top is very challenging it requires 2 to 3 hours. Better to go early in the morning. Take a makkah bus number 10 from the Safa Marwa side.

Hira cave where the Quran was revealed to Muhammad SAW is located on this hill top.
The climb is too steep. Authorities are building new roads and pathways till the top.

From the top, descent on to the other side where there are two caves. We can go through the first one to reach the second one. The second cave only has one entrance, so either return back through the first cave or via over the cave.

There is small arrangement for people to pray on the top(No ablution facility available).

Visit the information centre on the way before you climb.

We can enjoy the view of Makkah from the hill. The clock tower near Kaaba is clearly visible.

A shop is available on the top with water, juice etc.

Ample parking space is available at the base. Also restaurants are available.

A difficult climb no doubt but well worth the experience.. Best to bring a cane when climbing and bring along a torch light if you intend to climb during the night.

Jabal Al-Noor, the Mountain of Light, is a majestic peak that echoes with historical resonance. Most renowned for hosting the Cave of Hira, where Prophet Muhammad received the first revelations of the Quran, it holds profound significance for the Islamic faith. The ascent to the cave, while challenging, is a spiritual journey, and the panoramic views from the summit are truly breathtaking. Jabal Al-Noor is not just a mountain; it's a testament to faith, endurance, and the beginning of a transformative revelation that changed the course of history.

Jabal Noor is a historic mountain. Muhammad SAW used to meditate here. This is where the scientific Al-Quran was revealed. Khadija used to climb this mountain three times a day. She used to take food for Muhammad SAW.I love this mountain.I'm on top of it.

For people who are not fit it can take 1hour to 2 hour to reach cave hira if you take a lot of breaks for going up. It's better to take rest after every few minutes so that you don't get too much tired.
For person who is very fit can reach in around 30min.
Take water bottles with you. It's hot. You will need water to drink.

A great place for pilgrims to visit, never forget to take 2-3 small water bottles. Always ask taxi driver to take you to the door of Jabal e noor as there is a sharp slope before the mountain which is very hard and dangerous to cross on foot.

The mountain was majestic. Couldnt climb to the cave due to shortage of time.

People need to learn to keep these places clean. So much litteringw as done on the main road/base of the mountain.

Experience the effort of the prophet when doing solitary in the cave Hira, with his wife to bring him food everyday. The scenery that directly went through to Kaaba. Times prior to enter prophethood

Alhamdulillah, I had an amazing experience to reach the peak of Jabal Al Noor and afterwards entered Cave of Hira'. Located near to Makkah, the mountain 640 m tall and with 1.2 km track. There was quite a crowd of pilgrims entering and coming out of the Cave of Hira'. So, caution must be taken. Got to see the view of Makkah day and night and the sunset was spectacular! I performed Maghrib prayers peak of Jabal Al Noor.

I am grateful to the One in Whose Hand is my life, He has allowed me to visit this blessed place because it is the place where the first verses of Al-Quranul Kareem were revealed to our Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. I am very happy and surprised.
How did he, (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and Hazrat Khadijah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha raise up here again and again?

A steep hiking required to reach the peak, typically with less than an hour.

Tips: The Hira cave is less crowded at midnight. So, the best time to hike is around 11.30 pm to start ascending from the gated entrance.

If you need a stick to hike, better buy it at the foothills at around SAR10 each. You can also buy the torchlight if you hike at night.

There are many beggars along the hike route. But there are also people selling drinks along the way.

This cave is located on top of Jabal-al-Nour (mountain of divine light). This is where prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) used to meditate. He received his first revelation by the Angel Gabriel here. Gabriel said 'Read'. The prophet replied 'but I can't read'. (He meant I am not educated in worldly knowledge). To this Gabriel said, "Iqra- read in the name of your Creator". The prophet's blessed and devoted wife, mother of the Umma, Hazrat Khadija (may Allah be pleased with her) used to bring him food in this cave during his trips to meditate and seek Allah the Exalted.
This cave is located on top of a mountain which is devoid of vegetation. Obviously, it must have been a very isolated place in Mecca at the time of the prophet but on my visit today I was sad on seeing so much plastic litter left by the pilgrims. The climb is steep however, there are steps leading all the way up to the cave which helps in climbing and descent.

Jabal al-noor, where the cave of Hira is located which was the place the prophet peace and blessings of Allah be upon him goes for seclusion. It is also place where the first revelation was made. "Ikra'a bismi rabbikal a'ala", " Read in the name of your Lord who created ".

The memorable mount Hira is situated on the peak of this mountain. I can’t understand how Rasul (pbuh) and Khadijah (RA) climbed this mountain to the top. Now there are stairs chiselled out of the mountain wall. After 100-200 steps there are local people waiting with lemon water to sell.
