Nice restaurant with a lovely view and great menu with lots of choices from starters to mains and dessert.

We started with a selection of starters of the house: olives, cheese and hand cut ham.

We then ordered 3 mains: leg of lamb with potatoes, oranges and rice, leg of slow cooked pork with potatoes oranges and coriander rice, pot of slow cooked wild boar with lots of sauce and chestnuts.

The portions were very generous and we ended up going home with a "doggy bag/ of yummy leftovers".

The dishes were also pleasing to the eye, well plated.

I'd strongly suggest to book a table as the restaurant is always full. We were very lucky as they gave us an indoor table even though they told me they had only outdoor seating (which I'd strongly suggest as the view from their balcony is lovely if the weather is nice and sunny) thanks to the restaurant staff!!

Great restaurant! I ate here four times, each time something different, each time it was delicious, from the appetizers to dessert. The entire staff was friendly and helpful, in particular Joao took good care of us. All of my friends loved it here as well.

Another reviewer recommended mushrooms in port and honey and they were indeed excellent (I love mushrooms).

The restaurant has a parking space right next to it as well as across the road. Just in case, it might good to book a table in advance if you already know you want to go here, because on some days it seemed completely full. We only did that once though, on the other three occasions we just came and got a table. Almost forgot, if you're there during the day and the weather is nice they have an amazing view outside.

Met all of our expectations and more. We enjoyed superb food, received a warm welcome with good service the entire night. Fabulous view and very generous servings. Quality all around.

came for lunch on a saturday without a reservation and was prepared to wait the 30 mins. thankfully they were able to seat us after 10 mins, at a table outdoor overlooking the beautiful view no less. the staff are friendly and efficient, with couverts offered and drinks on the table almost immediately. for mains we ordered the lamb special, black pork cheeks w/ chestnut and chicken kebab for the kids. plates are presented beautifully and generously portioned - we had almost half the meal to bring home! my absolute favorite was the pork cheeks w/ chestnut, with melt in your mouth meat and seasoned to perfection. would recommend this restaurant to anyone making a visit to monchique, and be sure to make reservations!

A super restaurant known for its meat grills which you can inspect in a big fridge as you enter passing the grill chefs. However the local stews are the best around. We started with black pig ham and local tangy cheese with bread which we devoured like wolves. This was followed by octopus stew with oranges and lemons, a pairing I’ve not had before but will again! and wild boar with chestnuts, again a superb unctuous stew with the tenderest meat that melted in the mouth. We had two bottles of fabulous red wine (see pic) and stayed for three hours. The waiters really enjoy the theatre of it all as people around us enjoyed huge kebab skewers served at your table and de-spiked with a flourish. Reader, we went back the next day for those kebabs. My partner had chicken and I plumped for tuna and that tuna was indeed plump, big chunks of meaty chargrilled fish so tender it must have been caught that morning. The portions are epic so we rolled out of there but not before finishing a really good bottle of white wine (see picture) that would challenge a great chateaux. The atmosphere is also relaxed and fun as the staff clearly enjoy sharing their cuisine with the guests. Book ahead to get a table outside with fabulous views but tables inside give you a bit of theatre so no worries if you can’t get one

I've been here twice and loved both experiences. It's a beautiful view of Monchique, with such a great ambiance. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was just as great as the first time I went. So fresh and delicious, you can tell it's a lot of local produce. The portions are also a great size so go hungry! I'll definitely be going back...

Great view, lovely staff. We arrived early and the kitchen was closed. However the staff managed to get us some great food. Big portions, but more important excellent taste.

This cozy spot on the mountainside has an amazing view and an incredible staff. The service is friendly and prompt. The food is incredible!!! We had the mushrooms and the prawns to start. For mains, they have something for everyone and it’s all delicious. Would 100% go back.

Beautiful restaurant set in the mountains with absolutely stunning views.
Very clean with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Food was absolutely fantastic and very tasty with decent sized portions. Lots of variety on the menu to choose from, with local and international drinks available also. Must book in advance as was very popular. Great for couples, families and larger groups.

We so enjoyed Luar da Foia that we returned time and again during our one-week stay in Monchique.
Lovely appies to start, try the burrata salad for a treat.
We enjoyed excellent ribeye steaks, cooked precisely as ordered; grilled fish for two and wonderfully spiced; and delicious chicken piri piri.
We enjoyed an excellent local red wine from Quinta do Frances winery near Portimao.
For dessert, try the orange/chocolate pie for a special treat.
Beautiful night views from our balcony table of the lights from 3 oceanside towns as well as the village below.
Service every night was exceptional. These folks really care to serve, and they work as a team.

We managed to get in to this very busy restaurant on Easter weekend. We sat in the enclosed terrace side as the weather was not conducive to al fresco dining. It was the best meal we’ve had in Portugal so far and we’ve been eating very well. We had the wood oven pork and the Monchique stew. Local wine always great. Their starter of black Pork slices was fantastic as well. Thank you to Joao and the young local waiter (did not get his name) for the great service!

Incredible restaurant - best we’ve had by far after a week staying in the area.

Mushrooms in Port and honey excellent. The best grilled pork I’ve ever had - so tender! Great wine, deserts and coffee. Very friendly and attentive service. Lastly, a superb view of the Algarve.

Highly recommend (book an outdoor table if possible).

The food here is really special and for special ocasions. The price is a bit steep but the environment and the amazing food kinda justify it. The portions are very generous so i would skip lunch if your going for dinner. This might be one of the best restaurants in monchique. The service and the attention of everyone working here is also top notch.

Can't fault this place. Fantastic location high up the monchique mountains.. Beautiful sunset view down right to the sea in the distance.. The food is exquisite. Great flavours both from the grill & the kitchen. Good quality, good portions and a fair price for what it offers. The desserts are great too! This place is a rare find in the Algarve which has so many tourist traps. So glad to have been introduced to this gem by our dear friends.. We will keep visiting for special occasions. Note - the restaurant is at a much higher altitude so go prepared with a light jacket or jumper especially if you have a balcony table as it can get nippy and windy!

5 well deserved stars all around. Great food, one of the best mountain views/locations in the Algarve, and great service. The cozido de grão is recommended!

Amazing staff, amazing food, amazing overall!

Excellent food at fair prices and super friendly staff. We had the oxtail and the grilled grouper. Both dishes were super tasty and came with sides. Portions were very generous. Desserts looked amazing, we shared a mango mousse which was delicious. We found the appetizers to be a bit pricier than what we expected but other than that the bill was very reasonable and overall excellent value for money (60€ 2 main dishes with sides, appetizers, 1 big dessert, water and wine). The view is stunning, we really enjoyed sitting on the outside terrace. Highly recommended!
